Description
[0001] The invention relates to a device for the linear movement of a sanitary installation, such as a washbasin or a toilet, according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Devices that allow for height adjustment of toilets, sinks, or bidets are well-known. Such devices are increasingly used in hospitals and other facilities to improve accessibility. The height adjustability of a toilet, for example, significantly facilitates its use for people with limited mobility. Furthermore, this also represents a considerable economic factor in medical facilities, as it saves the labor of nursing staff who previously had to assist people with limited mobility in sitting down and, in particular, rising from a conventional toilet.
[0003] The height-adjustable device is also suitable for mounting, for example, a washbasin. Access to washbasins is often difficult, especially for wheelchair users. On the one hand, many standard washbasins are mounted too high, making them difficult to use for wheelchair users. On the other hand, some washbasins have a bulky base, such as a large siphon. This often obstructs wheelchair access to the washbasin.
[0004] Dutch patent NL 1003933 proposes a height-adjustable toilet with a cistern mounted on a movable vertical bracket. This bracket is mounted on vertical runners on a fixed frame. The relative vertical position of the movable frame can be adjusted by an electric actuator, controlled by an electronic control unit. The desired height is selected either via a manual control panel or a card reader. A card containing the user's required height is read by the reader, and the scanned data is transmitted to the control unit.
[0005] Based on this data, the electric adjustment drive is activated and the toilet is moved to the stored height.
[0006] A disadvantage of the device from NL 1003933 is its limited ease of maintenance. The device is permanently mounted to the building, making technical components on the rear of the frame, away from the sanitary fixture, difficult to access. However, due to the numerous moving parts, the often rough installation conditions typical on construction sites, and the general tendency to accumulate dirt, occasional maintenance of the rear section is unavoidable. Furthermore, the inlet and outlet are often designed as collapsible hoses, which constantly change shape with every change in height and therefore exhibit material fatigue after a certain period of use and must be replaced.
[0007] US Patent 2,817,094 A discloses a device for adjusting the height of a washbasin that can be installed in a building wall. The washbasin is attached to a bracket that is height-adjustable within a frame anchored to the building. The bracket's height is adjusted by means of two vertical threaded spindles, which are rotatably supported on the upper and lower horizontal sections of the frame. Both threaded spindles are driven by a common hydraulic motor, which draws its energy from the pressure in the water system. The hydraulic motor is supplied with water pressure via a pressure line, for which the upper horizontal frame section is provided with a corresponding opening. A water line is also provided for the water flowing from the hydraulic motor. The lower horizontal frame section is provided with a corresponding opening for their passage.
[0008] From SE 531 132 C2, a device for the linear process of installing a sanitary fixture is known, comprising the features of the preamble of claim 1. The device includes, among other things, an open frame construction made of profiles, consisting of an inner and an outer frame. The inner frame is pivotable about an axis relative to the outer frame, thereby making installation connections located behind the height-adjustable sanitary fixture on the rear of the two frames more easily accessible for repair and maintenance work than if such work had to be carried out through the frame construction.
[0009] US Patent 3,011,177 also describes a device for repair and maintenance purposes that pivots around an axis and allows for the linear movement of a sanitary fixture, in this case, a height-adjustable washbasin. A wall element designed like a door is attached to the surrounding building wall via hinges. A closed panel, adjustable in height by a motor, is located on the back of the door. The washbasin is attached to the front of the panel. The door-like wall element has a suitably sized opening to allow the washbasin to pass through at any adjustable height; this opening is covered from behind by the height-adjustable panel.
[0010] WO 98 / 35108 also describes a bracket that can be pivoted around an axis for maintenance purposes, in this case for a toilet. The bracket is part of an open frame construction made of profiles, consisting of an inner and an outer frame, with the inner frame being rotatable within the outer frame around a vertical axis. This makes installation connections located behind the toilet in the outer frame more easily accessible than if such work had to be carried out through the frame construction.
[0011] The Task The present invention consists in further developing a device for the linear process of a sanitary installation, such as a washbasin, a toilet or a bidet, in such a way that the ease of maintenance of the device is increased while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing design.
[0012] To SolutionAccording to claim 1, the object of the operation is a device for the linear movement of a sanitary installation, such as a washbasin or a toilet, comprising a bracket for mounting the sanitary installation, a first frame and a second frame, wherein the bracket is linearly movable on the first frame and an electric adjustment drive engages on the first frame on one side and on the bracket on the other, wherein the second frame is provided with fastening elements for its building-fixed anchoring and surrounds the first frame, and wherein the first frame is pivotably mounted on the second frame via a hinge with a vertical axis. The device comprises a vertical cover plate arranged on the side of the first and second frames facing away from the building and attached to the first and / or second frame. The cover plate has horizontal and vertical extensions that correspond at least to the horizontal and vertical extensions of the inner contour of the second frame, respectively. The cover plate has a central opening through which a fastening element for securing the sanitary fixture to the bracket passes. The opening has a vertical extension to allow the sanitary fixture to move within the opening. The device further comprises a facing plate attached to the bracket, arranged on the side of the cover plate facing the sanitary fixture, and having at least the horizontal extension of the opening.
[0013] The device according to the invention for the linear process of a sanitary installation, such as a washbasin or a toilet, creates a device that is significantly improved in its ease of maintenance and yet not very complex.
[0014] It is designed to allow the first frame to be pivoted open, regardless of the second frame's fixed anchoring to the building via screw connections. This improves ease of maintenance with regard to components at the rear of the device that are otherwise difficult to access, such as flushing tanks or inlets and outlets located there. According to the invention, the first frame can be pivoted open relatively easily, and these components are fully accessible.
[0015] In an alternative, unclaimed embodiment, horizontal movement of the sanitary fixture is possible. Accessible toilets often have space to the left and right of the toilet, at least the width or length of a wheelchair, to allow wheelchair users to approach and transfer from their wheelchair to the toilet. To accommodate preferred directions of movement, this space should ideally be provided on both sides of the toilet. This results in the familiar, and often perceived as oversized, accessible restrooms.
[0016] By allowing the device to be moved laterally, the accessible toilet can be reduced in size by at least one wheelchair width or length, as a wheelchair user can move the toilet according to their preferred direction. This results in a significant space saving, particularly in medical facilities such as hospitals or nursing homes with a large number of such toilets.
[0017] The vertical cover plate is positioned on the side of the first and second frames facing away from the building and is attached to the first and / or second frame. It is particularly preferred that the cover plate be connected to the second frame by means of plug-in connections.
[0018] The cover plate is flush with, or rests on, the wall facing the building and is made of, for example, plasterboard, wood, or other materials. The cover plate has horizontal and vertical dimensions that correspond at least to the horizontal and vertical dimensions of the inner contour of the second frame, respectively. The cover plate has a central opening through which a fastening element passes, securing the sanitary fixture to the bracket. This opening has a vertical dimension to allow the sanitary fixture to be moved within the opening.
[0019] The device also includes a cover plate attached to the bracket, which is positioned in front of the cover plate on the side facing the sanitary fixture and has at least the horizontal extent of the opening in the cover plate. Preferably, the cover plate also has a vertical extent to cover the opening in the cover plate at any height setting of the bracket, and the cover plate has at least one second opening for the passage of additional screws.
[0020] In other words, the cover plate is a panel attached to the bracket via the mounting element and also adjustable in height with the sanitary fixture, designed to conceal the opening in the cover plate. The cover plate is dimensioned such that it continues to cover the opening in the cover plate even when the bracket is in its maximum position.
[0021] For maintenance of the device, it is only necessary to first remove the cover plate and then the top cover plate. Afterwards, the first and second frames are freely accessible, and the first frame can be easily swung open even with the sanitary fixtures installed.
[0022] The use of the cover plate and the additional facing plate, as well as the installation of the device in a building-side mounting opening, offers the advantage of an aesthetically pleasing design. The technical nature of the device is not immediately apparent to an observer. Rather, a tasteful design of the facing plate can create added aesthetic value for a toilet, bathroom, or other installation location.
[0023] Preferably, the pivotable first frame consists of vertical frame sections on the hinge side and opposite the hinge side, and upper and lower horizontal frame sections, wherein the horizontal frame sections connect the vertical frame sections to each other. Preferably, the second frame also consists of vertical frame sections on the hinge side and opposite the hinge side, and upper and lower horizontal frame sections, wherein the horizontal frame sections connect the vertical frame sections to each other.
[0024] The first and second frames are preferably rectangular, with the respective frame sections screwed or welded together. The second frame is designed to surround or encircle the first frame and is correspondingly larger. However, a non-rectangular shape for both frames is also conceivable. For example, one frame section could be omitted. The frame sections could be square profiles, for instance, although other shapes, such as L-, U-, or T-profiles, are also possible.
[0025] The rectangular design of the first and second frames provides a stable arrangement with sufficient strength to safely support the sanitary fixture and the user. However, numerous arrangements of the frame sections relative to each other, as well as variations in their number within the first or second frame, are conceivable. For example, in a toilet installation, the bracket is preferably mounted on the vertical frame sections so that it can move linearly. Specifically, if the bracket is vertically movable, it is mounted on the vertical frame sections. If it is horizontally movable, the bracket is mounted on the horizontal frame sections.
[0026] The bracket is a type of slide positioned within the first frame and supported by guide elements on the vertical frame sections. Specifically, the bracket is designed to accommodate, for example, a toilet or washbasin on the front and a cistern and corresponding supply and drainage connections on the back. However, mounting a urinal or bidet on the front of the bracket is also conceivable.
[0027] The water and wastewater inlets and outlets preferably lead from the hinge side to the first frame. An independent supply is also possible using collapsible hoses or other connecting hoses with variable lengths. Non-expandable or non-collapsible hoses can also be used, which likewise allow the first frame to pivot freely. The guide elements can, for example, be designed as sliding elements, or the bracket can be mounted on the first frame via rollers that are rotatably mounted on the bracket. The guide elements are arranged in such a way that even under load, wedging against the vertical frame sections of the first frame during movement is prevented. To avoid jamming, a sliding design particularly benefits from a sliding bearing made of Teflon, which has a minimal coefficient of static friction and a low degree of wear.
[0028] Preferably, the electric adjustment drive is designed as a double spindle drive, with a first spindle located in the area of the frame section on the hinge side and a second spindle located in the area of the frame section opposite the hinge of the first frame. The two adjustment drives are arranged parallel to each other and together ensure that the bracket always moves smoothly and without jamming along the first frame.
[0029] To ensure smooth and consistent movement of the bracket and thus also of the sanitary fixture, spindle drives are particularly suitable. However, other adjustment drives are also possible, especially other designs of electric motors or pneumatic adjustment drives.
[0030] The use of spindle drives offers the further advantage that heavy loads can be moved, so that even with a load of 400 kg from the sanitary fixture onto the first frame, the vertical movement of the device is unrestricted. Therefore, the device is designed to assist a user with limited mobility.
[0031] To ensure the device can withstand heavy loads from large individuals, the first frame rests with a downward-facing surface on an upward-facing surface of the second frame. Preferably, the lower horizontal section of the first frame rests on the lower horizontal section of the second frame. Consequently, the weight load is not transferred, or not solely transferred, from the first to the second frame via the hinges, but rather directly from the first to the second frame. This reduces operational stress and associated fatigue at the hinges, allowing the hinges to be smaller, for example. Furthermore, this design results in greater overall rigidity of the device.
[0032] Preferably, the first frame is pivotally mounted to the second frame via two hinges, with the hinges forming the vertical axis during pivoting. Because the lower section of the first frame rests on the lower section of the second frame, only two hinges are necessary between the first and second frames, as the hinges experience minimal load during operation. The hinges allow the first frame to be pivoted out of the building-fixed second frame, similar to a door, thus exposing the otherwise inaccessible components of the sanitary fixture on the rear side, i.e., the side of the first frame facing the building.
[0033] Due to the way the first frame rests on the second frame, it may be necessary to slightly lift the first frame when pivoting it out of the second frame in order to reduce the static friction between the two frames.
[0034] To stably fix the first frame in the second frame during normal operation, various embodiments are conceivable, with preferred embodiments being described below.
[0035] According to a first embodiment, the lower horizontal frame section of the first frame is fixed to the lower horizontal frame section of the second frame by screws. Preferably, the upper frame section of the first frame is also fixed to the upper frame section of the second frame by further screws.
[0036] For example, the first frame is secured by screws in the form of threaded bolts in threaded sockets in the second frame. It is important to note that the screws between the lower horizontal frame section of the first frame and the lower frame section of the second frame must be tightened first to ensure the first frame rests on the second. Then, the screws between the upper horizontal frame sections of the first and second frames can be tightened. However, a reversed or undefined tightening sequence is also possible.
[0037] To ensure that the device can withstand heavy loads from particularly heavy persons during operation, a second embodiment provides the second frame, at least in its lower half, with a first support facing away from the building, against which the first frame is supported. The first support is located at least partially on the half of the second frame facing away from the hinge, and preferably the first support is a rigid component of the second frame.
[0038] According to the second embodiment, the second frame is also provided, at least in its upper frame half, with a second support facing the building, against which the first frame is supported, wherein the second support is preferably located at least partially on the hinge-away half of the second frame.
[0039] The second support is also designed to absorb a moment caused by weight loads, which is exerted on the first frame, and transfer it to the second frame.
[0040] In other words, in the second embodiment, the first and / or second support is arranged on the side of the frame section furthest from the hinge, with the first support being located on the side of the second frame facing away from the building and projecting above the top of the lower frame section of the second frame. The first support according to this embodiment can be a simple sheet metal plate attached to the second frame either by bolting or welding. Crucially, in the pivoted position, the first frame rests against the first support, thus preventing the first frame from pivoting beyond the closed position. In particular, the first support is designed to absorb moments acting on the first frame and transfer them to the second frame, which is fixed to the building.
[0041] Furthermore, it is possible to arrange the aforementioned second support on the second frame in a detachable or movable manner. In other words, this second support can be moved into either a locked or an unlocked position. For example, the second support is pivotably mounted along an axis orthogonal to the plane formed by the frame sections of the second frame and can thus be moved into either a locked or an unlocked position. Fundamentally, the second support is not limited to pivoting but can also be movable in other ways.
[0042] When the second support is in the locked position, the first frame is securely fixed between the first and second supports, and the device is in a closed and load-bearing state. To pivot the first frame open for maintenance, the second support must be moved to the unlocked position. Specifically, the first and second supports of both embodiments are designed to support the first frame within the second frame and to absorb and transfer the resulting lateral forces into the second frame. However, it is also conceivable to use only the first or second support of the second embodiment and combine it with the screw connection of the first embodiment.
[0043] During installation, the device is preferably attached in a building-side mounting opening by means of building-fixed screws between the building wall and the second frame, whereby the remaining gaps between the outside of the second frame and the mounting opening are subsequently closed by plastering, filling and / or tiling.
[0044] Further advantageous measures are explained below, together with a description of two preferred embodiments with reference to the figures. This shows Fig. 1 a rear view of the device which is fitted with a toilet on its front, but without showing any components arranged at the rear such as a flushing tank or an inlet and outlet, Fig. 2 a vertical section through the device, and Fig. 3 a front view of the device including the toilet mounted there.
[0045] The Figure 1The figure shows a rear view of the device with a toilet (WC 1), but without the flushing tank required for the toilet's water supply. The flushing tank (23) is, however, in Figure 2 The device comprises a bracket 2 for attaching the toilet to the front and the flushing tank 23 to the rear of the bracket 2. Furthermore, the device includes, around the bracket 2, a first frame 3 and a second frame 4 surrounding the first frame. The bracket 2 is vertically movable only on the first frame 3 by means of sliding elements.
[0046] The first frame 3 is pivotally mounted on the rigidly and stationary second frame 4 via at least two hinges 6 forming a vertical pivot axis 7. For maintenance purposes, the first frame 3 can therefore be swung forward out of the second frame 4 like a door, i.e., from the front.
[0047] The pivotable first frame 3 consists of hinge-side and hinge-away vertical frame sections 8, 9 as well as upper and lower horizontal frame sections 10, 11, wherein the horizontal frame sections 10, 11 connect the vertical frame sections 8, 9 to each other.
[0048] The second frame 4, which is permanently installed in the building, also consists of vertical frame sections 12, 13 on the hinge side and on the hinge side, as well as upper and lower horizontal frame sections 14, 15, wherein the horizontal frame sections 14, 15 connect the vertical frame sections 12, 13 to each other.
[0049] The stationary second frame 4 is arranged in a mounting opening 26 provided on the building side, and it surrounds the first frame 3. The second frame 4 is firmly anchored in the mounting opening 26 by means of screws 27.
[0050] An electric adjustment drive 5 is designed as a double spindle drive, wherein a first spindle is arranged in the area of the hinge-side frame section 8 and a second spindle is arranged in the area of the frame section 9 opposite the hinge of the first frame 3. The spindle drives engage on one side with the first frame 3 and on the other side with the bracket 2 supporting the toilet and are configured to move the bracket 2 linearly relative to the first frame 3, preferably vertically.
[0051] The lower horizontal frame section 11 of the first frame 3 rests with its underside on the upper side of the lower horizontal frame section 15 of the second frame 4. In the swung-back, i.e., closed, operating state, the lower horizontal frame section 11 of the first frame 3 is securely fastened to the lower horizontal frame section 15 of the second frame 4 by, for example, three screws 22. Similarly, the upper horizontal frame section 10 of the first frame 3 is securely fastened to the upper horizontal frame section 14 of the second frame 4 by three further screws 22. Therefore, if the first frame 3 is to be swung out of the second frame 4, the screws 22 must first be removed.
[0052] According to a second, also in Figure 1In the illustrated embodiment, instead of the screw connections 22, a first and a second support 20, 21 are provided in order to stably lock the first frame 3 within the second frame 4.
[0053] The first and second supports 21, 22 are arranged in the area of the frame sections 9, 13 facing away from the hinge, with the first support 20 facing away from the building, whereas the second support 21 is facing towards the building.
[0054] The first support 20 extends beyond the top of the lower frame section 15 of the second frame 4. Since the first frame 3 is supported on the second frame 4 by the first support 20, the first frame 3 does not pivot relative to the second frame 4 when the device is moved from the open to the closed state.
[0055] The second, building-facing support 21 is also arranged on the second frame 4 and extends below the underside of the upper horizontal frame section 14 of the second frame 3 and also the top of the upper horizontal frame section 10 of the first frame 3.
[0056] Since the upper frame sections 10, 14 of the first and second frames 3, 4 do not lie directly on top of each other like the lower frame sections 11, 15, but are separated by an air gap, the second support 21 has a greater vertical extension than the first support 20 in order to come into contact with the first frame 3 from the second frame 4 and to serve as a further, second support 21 for the first frame 3.
[0057] Because of the forces and moments that arise when the toilet is used by particularly heavy persons, the first and second supports 20, 21 are designed in such a way that they transfer the forces and moments that act on the first frame 3 via the bracket 2 into the second frame 4 and thus at least relieve the hinges 6.
[0058] In order to pivot the first frame 3 out of the second frame 4 in the second embodiment, the second support 21 is releasably or movably arranged on the second frame 4. In other words, the second support 21 is designed as a pivotable latch and can be selectively moved into a locking and unlocking position. For this purpose, the first support 20 can, for example, be pivoted via a bearing along the plane of the second frame 4 formed by the horizontal and vertical frame sections. In the locked position, the first frame 3 is held within the second frame 4 on both sides by the first and second supports 20, 21. If the second support 21 is pivoted open in the form of a latch, the first frame 3 can be pivoted in the direction of the second support 20, i.e., towards the side facing away from the building.
[0059] The Figure 2Figure 1 shows a vertical section. This reveals a vertical cover plate 16, which is attached to the second frame 4 on the side of the first and second frames 3, 4 facing the sanitary fitting 1, via plug connections 25 in the inner corners. The cover plate 16 can also be attached to the second frame 4 in other ways, for example by screws.
[0060] According to the Figure 1 and 2 The cover plate 16 has a horizontal and a vertical extension that exceeds the dimensions of the second frame 4, so that the cover plate 16 completely covers the second frame 4. In other words, the cover plate 16 is designed to provide an opaque covering for the mounting opening 26 and the components of the device installed therein.
[0061] Additionally, the cover plate 16 has a central opening 17 through which a fastening element 24 passes, which connects the sanitary fitting 1 to the bracket 2 by means of further screws 28. In particular, the opening 17 has a vertical extension, which allows the device to move the sanitary fitting 1 vertically to its maximum and minimum height positions.
[0062] Additionally, a cover plate 18 is provided, attached to the fastening element 24. This cover plate is located on the side of the cover plate 16 facing the toilet 1 and extends at least the horizontal extent of the opening 17. The cover plate 18 is indirectly attached to the bracket 2 by the fastening element 24 and is thus designed to be moved vertically along with the toilet 1. The cover plate 18 extends vertically to cover the opening 17 at any height setting of the sanitary fixture 1. Second openings 19 are provided in the cover plate 18 for the passage of the additional screws 28, which secure the cover plate 18 to the fastening element 24 and to the bracket 2.A third, central opening 29 is provided for the supply and discharge pipes 30 of fresh and wastewater, the third opening 29, like the second opening 19, continuing in alignment through the facing plate 18 and the fastening element 24.
[0063] The cover plate 18, the fastening element 24 and the toilet 1 are attached to the bracket 2 via the additional screws. In principle, it is also possible to attach the components independently to the bracket 2 or to each other.
[0064] According to Figure 3The entire technical part of the device, consisting of the first and second frames 3, 4, the flushing tank 23, or the inlet or outlet pipes 30, is concealed behind the cover plate 16 and the cladding plate 18. This offers the advantage of an attractive visual appearance for the device. The cladding plate 18 can, for example, be designed as a mirror or it can be colored to match the surrounding color, particularly that of the cover plate. For example, the cladding plate can be made of plastic. Other materials are not excluded. Reference symbol list
