Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a hand-held floor cleaning machine for cleaning a floor surface, comprising a base on which a cleaning device is provided, which has at least one driven brush element which is designed to engage in a cleaning plane with a floor surface to be cleaned and to support the base relative to the floor surface, and comprising an operating handle which is pivotably mounted on the base and extends away from the base, wherein an application device for applying cleaning liquid to the floor surface to be cleaned is provided on the base, and wherein a suction foot is mounted on the base via a holder and is designed to pick up dirty liquid from the floor surface to be cleaned.
[0002] Such floor cleaning machines are known from the prior art. A cleaning device is provided on a base, which has one or more driven brush elements designed to engage the floor surface to be cleaned and thereby loosen dirt therefrom. A control handle is pivotally mounted on the base, and the control handle can be used to guide the floor cleaning machine, which is essentially supported by the brush elements relative to the floor surface to be cleaned, and to adjust the orientation of the base. Furthermore, an application device is provided, with which cleaning fluid is applied to the area of the brush elements, thus improving the loosening of dirt. Furthermore, a suction foot is pivotally attached to the base and is connected to a dirty fluid container in the base or the control handle. The squeegee can be used to remove dirty liquid from the floor surface to be cleaned using a vacuum that can be created in the dirty liquid container by a suction device.
[0003] With such floor cleaning machines, it has proven problematic that the base is only supported on the floor surface to be cleaned by the driven brush elements. This can slightly change the direction of movement in which the floor cleaning machine moves. This can happen simply because the brush elements engage with the floor surface to be cleaned to different degrees. It can therefore be useful to provide guide wheels on the base, which also rest on the floor surface to be cleaned. However, the vertical position of the guide wheels must be readjusted depending on the wear of the brush elements, which is laborious, and the guide wheels should not be able to be lifted off the floor surface to be cleaned due to the squeegee contacting the floor surface.
[0004] Furthermore, it must be ensured that the squeegee rests reliably on the floor surface to be cleaned so that dirty liquids are safely vacuumed away. Furthermore, such machines should be designed to provide a transport position in which neither the brush elements nor the squeegee rest on a floor surface, yet the machine can still be moved across it by means of wheels, enabling transport of the machine without the risk of damaging the brush elements and / or the squeegee. A hand-held floor cleaning machine according to the preamble of claim 1 is disclosed, for example, in EP-A-2080468.
[0005] Based on the prior art, it is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a hand-held floor cleaning machine of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the guide wheels are reliably brought into contact with a floor surface to be cleaned, wherein independently of this, the suction foot rests reliably on the floor surface to be cleaned. According to the invention, this object is achieved by a hand-held floor cleaning machine for cleaning a floor surface, comprising a base on which a cleaning device is provided, which has at least one driven brush element that is designed to engage in a cleaning plane with a floor surface to be cleaned and to support the base relative to the floor surface, and comprising an operating handle that is pivotably mounted on the base and extends away from the base, wherein an application device for applying cleaning fluid to the floor surface to be cleaned is provided on the base, wherein a suction foot is mounted on the base via a holder and is designed to pick up dirty liquid from the floor surface to be cleaned. The holder has a first pivot arm that extends between a machine end and a free end and is pivotally connected to the base with the machine end about a first pivot axis that runs parallel to the cleaning plane. The holder has a guide wheel that is attached to the first pivot arm between the machine end and the free end. The holder has a second pivot arm that extends between a proximal end and a distal end and is pivotally connected to the first pivot arm between the machine end and the free end about a second pivot axis that runs parallel to the first pivot axis. The suction foot is attached to the distal end of the second pivot arm.
[0006] In the floor cleaning machine according to the invention, one or more mounts are provided on the base, on which the cleaning device with the brush elements supporting the base is located. These mounts initially comprise a first pivot arm, on the area of which a guide wheel is attached, remote from the base. The pivot arm can be pivoted relative to the base. This ensures that the guide wheel always rests on the floor surface to be cleaned, regardless of the height of the brush elements.
[0007] In a preferred embodiment, a pretensioning device can be provided that pretensions the first pivot arm such that its free end is pressed toward the cleaning plane in which the free ends of the brush elements are located. This presses the guide wheels against the floor surface to be cleaned. In particular, the pretensioning device can comprise a spring arranged between the base and the first pivot arm.
[0008] Furthermore, according to the invention, a second pivot arm is pivotally connected to the first pivot arm of the one or more holders, which in turn holds the squeegee. Due to the pivotability of the second pivot arm relative to the first pivot arm, the vertical position of the squeegee relative to the guide wheels can change. Furthermore, the pivotable second pivot arm of the one or more holders allows the squeegee to be pivoted away from the floor surface to be cleaned into a transport position in which the squeegee no longer rests on the floor surface. The floor cleaning machine can then be moved across a floor surface using the guide wheels without the squeegee resting on the floor and becoming damaged.
[0009] Preferably, the squeegee is designed such that the squeegee has a squeegee base to which a front squeegee lip and a rear squeegee lip are attached, which extend, preferably parallel to one another, away from the squeegee base and which are spaced apart from one another such that a suction chamber is delimited by the squeegee lips and the squeegee base, wherein the edges of the squeegee lips remote from the squeegee base extend in a contact plane and are designed to rest on the floor surface to be cleaned, and wherein the distal end of the second pivot arm is attached to the squeegee base. With such a squeegee design, dirty liquid can be reliably removed from a floor surface to be cleaned when the suction chamber, which can be connected to a dirty liquid container of the floor cleaning machine, is subjected to negative pressure.
[0010] In a further preferred embodiment, the squeegee can have a guide element, for example in the form of a sliding element or a wheel, which is designed to rest on the floor surface to be cleaned, thereby determining the vertical position of the squeegee relative to the floor surface to be cleaned and preventing the entire load of the squeegee from having to be supported by the squeegee lips. This guide element is preferably provided centrally on the squeegee.
[0011] Furthermore, it is preferred if a stop is provided on the first or second pivot arm, wherein the stop is designed to limit a pivoting movement of the first pivot arm relative to the second pivot arm away from the base. This prevents the suction cup from pivoting too far below the level defined by the support surface of one or more guide wheels.
[0012] In a further preferred embodiment, a locking arrangement is provided which has a first locking element connected to the squeegee base and a second locking element attached to the base or the first pivot arm, wherein the first and second locking elements are designed and attached such that they can be releasably engaged in a transport position in which the squeegee is pivoted away from the cleaning plane, so that the squeegee is prevented from pivoting towards the cleaning plane. In this way, it is possible for the squeegee, when pivoted away from a floor surface, to be locked in this transport position to prevent it from pivoting back on its own.Particularly preferably, the first locking element can be designed as a lever that is movably mounted on the suction cup and preloaded into a locking position. When the suction cup is in the transport position and the first locking element is in the locking position, the first locking element engages with the second locking element, and the first locking element can be released from the second locking element by a movement counter to the preload. Such a mechanism is easy to operate.
[0013] Furthermore, it is preferred that the squeegee can be pivoted into a transport position by pivoting the second pivot arm, in which position the squeegee is pivoted away from the cleaning plane, wherein the first pivot arm is pivotable between a raised position and a lowered position relative to the base. In the lowered position, the free end is closer to the cleaning plane than in the raised position, wherein the first and second pivot arms are coupled to one another in such a way that the first pivot arm is pivoted into the raised position when the squeegee is pivoted into the transport position by pivoting the second pivot arm. According to the invention, a coupling of the movement of the second pivot arm with that of the first is achieved here, which ensures that when the second pivot arm is pivoted such that the squeegee is in the transport position, the first pivot arm is in the position closest to the base. This raises the squeegee to its highest vertical position when in transport mode, preventing any attachments on top of the squeegee from coming into contact with the brush elements or the base. Furthermore, the guide wheels are then locked in place, preventing their vertical position from shifting during transport.
[0014] To achieve this, it is further preferred if a coupling element is provided, wherein the coupling element is pivotally connected to the base about a first axis running parallel to the first pivot axis, wherein the coupling element is pivotally mounted about a second axis running parallel to the second pivot axis and displaceable over a limited displacement range on the second pivot arm on a side of the second pivot axis facing away from the suction foot, wherein the displacement range is designed such that when the suction foot is pivoted towards the transport position, one end of the displacement range is reached before the transport position is reached. The coupling element thus ensures that, after reaching the end of the displacement range, further pivoting of the second pivot arm must always be accompanied by pivoting of the first pivot arm.As a result, when the second swivel arm and thus the suction foot are swiveled towards the transport position, the first swivel arm is also swiveled into the position closest to the base.
[0015] In a further preferred embodiment, the operating handle is pivotally connected to the base by a joint, wherein a locking mechanism is adjustable between a locking position and a release position, wherein, when the locking mechanism is in the locking position, the operating handle is non-pivotally locked relative to the base in a transport position, and wherein, when the locking mechanism is in the release position, the operating handle is pivotable relative to the base. In this embodiment, the operating handle can be locked in a specific position relative to the base, preferably in a position where the longitudinal axis of the operating handle extends perpendicular to the cleaning plane. Then, by pivoting the operating handle, the base can be pivoted away from a floor surface, wherein this pivoting movement can take place around the guide wheels. This allows the floor cleaning machine to be tilted so that it can then be pulled across the floor surface using the guide wheels for transport.
[0016] In a preferred embodiment, the hand-held floor cleaning machine can be provided with a cleaning liquid container connected to the application device, with a dirty liquid container connected to the suction foot, and with a suction device designed to apply a negative pressure to the dirty liquid container.
[0017] The present invention will be explained below with reference to a drawing showing only a preferred embodiment, in which Figure 1 shows an embodiment of a hand-held floor cleaning machine according to the invention in a perspective view, Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the rear section of the base of the floor cleaning machine with the suction foot from Figure 1 Figure 3 shows a perspective view from below of the rear section of the base of the floor cleaning machine from Figure 1 Figure 4 shows the suction cup and the base of the embodiment from Figure 1 Figure 5 shows the rear part of the base and the suction foot of the floor cleaning machine in perspective from below Figure 1 perspective view, with the squeegee in the transport position, and Figure 6 shows the floor cleaning machine from Figure 1 in a backward tilted position.
[0018] As from Figure 1As can be seen, the exemplary embodiment of a hand-held floor cleaning machine 1 according to the invention has a base 3 which is designed to be guided over a floor surface 5 to be cleaned, wherein a cleaning device 9 is provided on the base 3, which in the preferred exemplary embodiment described here has two brush elements 7 each performing an orbital movement. The cleaning device 9 or the brush elements 7 move parallel to a cleaning plane 11, in which the free ends of the bristles of the brush elements 7 are arranged and in which these engage with the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. In addition, the cleaning device 9 has an application device, for example in the form of nozzles, with which cleaning fluid can be applied to the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. This occurs in such a way that the cleaning fluid reaches the area in which the brush elements 7 come into contact with the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. The base 3 is supported by the brush elements 7 on the floor surface 5.
[0019] Furthermore, in particular Figure 1It can be seen that an operating handle 13 with a grip for guiding the machine 1 is pivotally attached to the base 3, wherein the operating handle 13 and the base 3 are connected via a joint 14 that is designed to have a locking mechanism that can be adjusted between a locking position and a release position. In the exemplary embodiment described here, a transport position of the floor cleaning machine 1 is selected such that the operating handle 13 is arranged with its longitudinal axis 15 substantially perpendicular to the cleaning plane 11, i.e., when the floor cleaning machine 1 is arranged with the brush elements 7 on a floor surface 5 to be cleaned, the operating handle 13 extends perpendicular to the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. In this transport position, the locking mechanism can be moved into the locking position, and the operating handle 13 is then locked relative to the base 3 and cannot pivot. When the locking mechanism is moved to the release position, the previously described locking is released and the operating handle 13 can be freely pivoted relative to the base 3 over a predetermined angular range.
[0020] Further is Figure 1 It can be seen that a cleaning fluid container 17 and a dirty fluid container 19 are mounted on the operating handle 13. The cleaning fluid container 17 is connected to the application device so that the latter can be supplied with cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid container 17 during operation of the floor cleaning machine 1.
[0021] As can be further seen from the figures, a suction cup 23 is attached to a rear end of the base 3, as seen in the normal direction of movement 21, via two holders 25 in the preferred embodiment described here.
[0022] The squeegee 23 comprises a squeegee base 27, from which a front squeegee lip 29 and a rear squeegee lip 31 extend downwards, substantially parallel to one another. The squeegee lips 29, 31 extend along the squeegee base 27, and the edges 33 of the squeegee lips 27, 29 remote from the squeegee base 27 are arranged in a common contact plane, so that the edges 33 can rest together on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. In the exemplary embodiment described here, the squeegee 23 also has a guide element in the form of two wheels 34, which are designed to rest on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, thereby determining the vertical position of the squeegee 23 relative to the floor surface 5 to be cleaned and preventing the entire load of the squeegee 23 from having to be supported by the squeegee lips 29, 31 on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. The wheels 34 are arranged centrally on the suction cup 23.In this context, however, it should also be pointed out that the guide element can also be designed as a sliding element as an alternative to the wheels 34.
[0023] Between the suction lips 29, 31 and the squeegee base 27, a suction chamber is formed, which can be connected to the dirty liquid container 19 via a connection 35 and a suction line not shown in the figures. The dirty liquid container 19, in turn, is connected to a vacuum source, so that the suction line of the suction chamber is subjected to negative pressure and an air flow can be generated from the suction chamber into the dirty liquid container 19. In this way, dirty liquid located on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned can be conveyed into the dirty liquid container 19.
[0024] Furthermore, in particular the Figures 2 to 4It can be seen that each of the holders 25, by means of which the suction foot 23 is held on the base 3, has a first pivot arm 37, which in the exemplary embodiment described here has two legs 39 which are connected to one another via a connecting section 41, wherein the first pivot arm 37 extends between a machine end 43 and a free end 45 and is articulated to the base 3 with the machine end 43 so as to be pivotable about a first pivot axis 47. The first pivot axis 47 runs parallel to the cleaning plane 11, in which the brush elements 7 engage with the floor surface 5 to be cleaned.
[0025] In each of the brackets 25, a guide wheel 49 is rotatably mounted between the legs 39 of the first pivot arms 37.
[0026] How further in particular the Figure 3As can be seen, a second pivot arm 51 is provided on each of the first pivot arms 37 remote from the machine end 43, said second pivot arm extending between a proximal end 53 and a distal end 55, wherein the second pivot arm 51 is pivotally connected to the first pivot arm 37 about a second pivot axis 57. The first and second pivot axes 47, 57 run parallel to each other and thus parallel to the cleaning plane 11. The suction foot base 27 is fixedly attached to the distal end 55 of the second pivot arms 51. As otherwise Figure 2 As can be seen, the second pivot arms 51 also have two legs 59 which are connected to one another via a connecting section 61, the guide wheel 49 being arranged between the legs 59.
[0027] Especially in the Figures 3 and 4It can be seen that a laterally extending stop 61 is provided on a leg 39 of the first pivoting arms 37, with which a leg 59 of the second pivoting arm 51 can come into contact, so that the pivoting range of the second pivoting arm 51 relative to the first pivoting arm 37 is limited downwards by the stop 61.
[0028] The first pivot arms 37 can be pivoted about the first pivot axis 47 over a limited pivot range, which is limited upwards by contact surfaces 63 on the legs 39, wherein the contact surfaces 63 can come into contact with a projection 67 on the base 3.
[0029] Furthermore, Figure 3 and especially in Figure 4It can be seen that one of the holders 25 has a prestressing element in the form of a spring 69, which is arranged between the connecting section 41 of the first pivot arm 37 and the base 3, so that the first pivot arm 37 is prestressed such that its free end 45 is pressed toward the cleaning plane 11. However, it is also possible for both holders 25 to have a spring 69 mounted in this way.
[0030] Furthermore, in the Figures 2 and 3It can be seen that one of the holders 25 also has a coupling element 71 which is pivotally connected to the base 3 about a first axis 73. An end of the coupling element 71 remote from the first axis 73 is connected to the second pivot arm 51 so as to be pivotable about a second axis 75 and is also displaceable relative to the second pivot arm 51 over a displacement range defined by an elongated hole 77, wherein the coupling element 71 is attached to the second pivot arm 51 on the side of the second pivot axis 57 facing away from the suction cup 23, i.e. at the proximal end 53. The first and second axes 73, 75 run parallel to one another and parallel to the pivot axes 47, 57. Such a coupling element 71 can also be provided on both holders 25.
[0031] Finally, especially in Figure 2It can be seen that a first locking element in the form of a pivotable lever 79 is provided on the suction foot base 27, which can be pivoted into the Figure 2 shown position is spring-loaded, so that it only counteracts a force from the Figure 2 shown position to the right. If the suction foot 23 is positioned as shown Figure 5 shown is pivoted upwards into a transport position about the second pivot axis 57, the first locking element in the form of the lever 79, after it has been deflected against the effect of the spring preload, can engage behind the section of the first pivot arm 37 on which the contact surface 63 is provided and which forms a second locking element, so that the suction foot 23 in the Figure 5 shown transport position can be locked by the engagement of the locking elements
[0032] When the suction foot 23 pivots about the second pivot axis 57 toward the transport position, the bolt 81 received in the elongated hole 79 of the coupling element 71 moves until it comes into contact with the end of the elongated hole 79 and thus reaches the end of the displacement range in which the coupling element 71 is displaceable relative to the second pivot arm 51. This occurs before the transport position is reached. When the bolt 81 reaches the end of the elongated hole and the suction foot 23 or the second pivot arm 51 is pivoted further, the effect of the coupling element 71 is to pivot the first pivot arm 37 upwards away from the cleaning plane 7, counter to the action of the spring 69. This ensures that in the transport position the first swivel arm 37 is in the swivel position closest to the base 3, thereby preventing the connection 35 on the suction foot base 27 from hitting the base 3.
[0033] In addition, the coupling element 71 serves to prevent the first pivot arm 37 from pivoting downwards away from the base 3 to an indefinite extent. This is because, once the bolt 81 has reached the lower end of the elongated hole 79, the first pivot arm 73 cannot pivot further downwards due to the engagement of the second pivot arm 51 with the stop 61.
[0034] Due to the holders 25 designed according to the invention, the floor cleaning machine 1 with the suction foot 23 can be operated in the following manner.
[0035] During normal cleaning operation, the suction foot 23 rests on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned in order to collect dirty liquid therefrom, while the floor cleaning machine 1 is pushed by a user over the floor surface 5 to be cleaned. The spring 69 ensures that the guide wheels 49 always rest on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, regardless of the extent to which the brush elements 7 are worn or how far they extend downward from the base 3. Because the guide wheels 49 reliably rest on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, a straight-line movement of the base 3 along the direction of movement 21 is easily possible.
[0036] In addition, the suction foot 23 can vertically avoid obstacles due to the pivotability of the second pivot arms 51 and also rests reliably on the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, this being additionally ensured here by the wheels 34.
[0037] If a user only wants to remove dirty liquid from the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, he can use the locking mechanism to lock the operating handle 13 in the Figure 6 shown position relative to the base 3 and then pivot the base 3 away from the floor surface 5 to be cleaned, this pivoting movement taking place around the axes of rotation around which the guide wheels 49 rotate.
[0038] Finally, it is also possible for a user to first pivot the squeegee 23 into the transport position in the manner already described, where it is locked due to the engagement of the lever 79 with the additional locking element, and then pivot the base 3 away from the floor surface 5 to be cleaned with the control handle 13 locked. Then, neither the brush elements 7 nor the squeegee 23 rest on the floor surface, and the floor cleaning machine 1 can be transported without the risk of damaging these elements.
