A laundry treatment apparatus comprising: a tub (3) for containing water, the tub (3) comprising an introduction port (33) through which laundry is introduced into or taken out of the tub (3); a drum (4) provided in the tub (3), the drum (4) containing the laundry supplied thereto through the introduction port (33); an agitator (6) rotatably provided in the drum (4); a rotating shaft (67) penetrating the tub (3) and the drum (4) so as to be connected to the agitator (6); a driving unit (7) connected to the rotating shaft (67) and configured to rotate the rotating shaft (67); a connecting unit (8) comprising a connecting body (81) secured to a bottom of the drum (4) and a body through-hole (85) formed through the connecting body (8) so as to allow the rotating shaft (67) to be inserted thereinto; and a power transmission unit (9) provided in the body through-hole (85) so as to connect the rotating shaft (67) to the connecting body (81), wherein the power transmission unit (9) comprises: a first housing (91) secured to an inside of the body through-hole (85) and fixed to the connecting unit (8), the connecting unit (8) being configured to rotate with the first housing (91); a second housing (93) rotatably provided in a housing through-hole (92) formed through the first housing (91) and having a coupling hole (94) receiving the rotating shaft (67), the second housing (93) configured to be rotated by the rotating shaft (67); a roller (95) rotatably provided between the first housing (91) and the second housing (93); and a roller support unit (96) configured to restrict rotation of the roller (95) when the second housing (93) rotates in any one direction selected from among a clockwise direction and a counterclockwise direction, wherein the roller support unit (96) comprises: an accommodation portion (961) concavely indented from an outer circumferential surface of the second housing (93) toward the coupling hole (94) so as to define a space for accommodating the roller (95); a slanted portion (963) protruding from a lower surface of the accommodation portion (961) toward the first housing (91); and a support unit (965, 967) comprising one end secured to the second housing (93) and a free end rotatably supporting the roller (95), the support unit (965, 967) being configured to apply force to the roller (95) so that the roller (95) is pressed toward a space between the housing through-hole (92) and the slanted portion (963), characterized in that the height of the tub (3) is provided smaller than the width of the tub (3), wherein the connecting body (81) and the power transmission unit (9) are disposed between the bottom of the drum (4) and a bottom of the tub (3), when the rotating shaft (67) is rotated in the clockwise direction, the roller (95) is rotated within the accommodation portion (961), and when the rotating shaft (67) is rotated in the counterclockwise direction, the roller (95) is located in the space between the housing through-hole (92) and the slanted portion (963), which is smaller than a space between the accommodation portion (961) and the housing through-hole (92), by the roller support unit (96).

The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the support unit (965, 967) comprises: a support bar (965) rotatably supporting the roller (95); and an elastic member (967) comprising one end secured to the second housing (93) and an opposite end secured to the support bar (965) so as to press the support bar (965) toward the roller (95).

3. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising: a cabinet (1) comprising an entrance (11) formed therein; and a drawer (2) to which the tub (3) is secured, the drawer (2) being retractable from the cabinet (1) through the entrance (11).

4. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the rotating shaft (67) penetrates a lower surface of the tub (3) and a lower surface of the drum (4), and is secured to the agitator (6).

5. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the rotating shaft (67) is arranged perpendicular to a ground on which the cabinet (1) is seated.

The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the driving unit (7) comprises: a stator (71) secured to the lower surface of the tub (3) while being located outside the tub (3), the stator (71) being configured to generate a rotating magnetic field; and a rotor (73) configured to be rotated by the rotating magnetic field generated by the stator (71), and wherein the rotating shaft (67) is secured to the rotor (73).

The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the agitator (6) comprises: a body (61) disposed in the drum (4) so as to be secured to the rotating shaft (67), the body (61) being formed in a shape of a circular plate arranged parallel to the lower surface of the drum (4); and an arm (63) protruding from the body (61) toward the introduction port (33).

The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 7, further comprising: a communication hole (411) formed through the lower surface of the drum (4) so that an inside of the drum (4) communicates with an inside of the tub (3) therethrough; and an agitator through-hole (65) formed through the body (61).

9. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the rotating shaft (67) comprises a protrusion extending in a longitudinal direction of the rotating shaft (67), and wherein the coupling hole (94) comprises a protrusion-receiving recess (941) formed therein to receive the protrusion therein.

10. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the connecting body (81) comprises a receiving portion (87) formed so as to be concentric with the body through-hole (85), the receiving portion (87) having a larger diameter than the body through-hole (85), and wherein the first housing (91) is secured to the receiving portion (87).

11. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 10, wherein the receiving portion (87) is disposed on the body through-hole (85).

12. The laundry treatment apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the connecting body (81) is coupled and secured to a lower surface of the drum (4).
