Description

[0001] The invention relates to a device for fixing a frame of a window and / or door type joinery to be fixed in an opening of a building, in particular during renovation. It also relates to the use of this device in a method of installing joinery.

[0002] A window and / or door type joinery usually includes a frame which forms the fixed frame framing the leaf or leaves of the window or door. The frame is fixed to a wall, that is to say to the masonry part delimiting the frame around an opening made in the thickness of said wall and intended to receive the joinery. The frame is fixed by fixing devices arranged around the perimeter of the frame framing the opening, which are conventionally in the form of a two-armed bracket, one of the arms being fixed to the masonry and the other arm receiving the frame by fixing, each fixing being made by means of a fixing screw passing through a fixing hole which it has.The retaining wall, particularly when it is an exterior wall forming part of the structural work of a building, is covered with at least one layer of thermal insulation (and where appropriate also sound insulation) or brick partition, this layer itself being covered with a facing.

[0003] When renovating with removal of the old joinery, especially in total removal, that is to say when not only the joinery to be replaced is removed but also its frame in order to replace it with a new frame, it is necessary to take into account the presence of the layer of insulation and the facing remaining on the wall to install the new joinery. In this case, operating the implementation of the joinery with brackets as in the new is not possible because it is impossible to access the fixing device or bracket at the back of the frame. It is necessary to insert one branch of the fixing bracket between the structural work and the insulation to be fixed to the wall, then the frame is fixed in surface to the other branch of the bracket. This consumes labor time because it is necessary to carry out a lot of additional work to redo the facing, and adjustments for a good quality installation of the frame and compliance with the rules of the art.

[0004] Regulations relating to the installation of joinery and / or the thermal insulation of buildings impose fixing constraints that must be respected. These constraints concern in particular the anchoring point of the fixing device to the masonry in order to ensure the solidity of the fixing to the wall, this anchoring point must respect a minimum distance from the board surrounding the receiving opening of the joinery, or in other words the distance between the anchoring point of the device and the edge of the receiving wall of the frame, a distance which will be called in the rest of the description the anchoring depth of the fixing device. These constraints also concern a minimum thickness of caulking required for the implementation of the sealing gaskets. However, this dimension is poorly respected, particularly during a renovation.

[0005] Patent application FR3108650 discloses a device for fixing a joinery frame of the window and / or door type, capable of fixing said frame to an anchoring face of a wall around a panel intended to receive the joinery, said device comprising at least two fixing elements which can be secured to each other. One of said two elements is an adjustable fixing bracket, receiving the frame, and the other element is an adjustment fixing lug having a generally elongated shape whose longitudinal direction defines the longitudinal direction of the device, configured to be suitable for fixing to the anchoring face of the wall, and which comprises adjustment means at least along said longitudinal direction.Said two fixing elements comprise holding means and longitudinal adjustment means between said two fixing elements to form said fixing device by being joined together in an adjustable manner along the longitudinal direction of said fixing lug. The longitudinal adjustment means that the fixing lug comprises comprise at least one longitudinal strip bearing marks to assist in the longitudinal adjustment of said fixing bracket. Said strip may be extended longitudinally by a breakable longitudinal end portion ending in a stop for adjusting the anchoring depth.

[0006] Such a device is suitable in most cases, whether in the case of installing joinery during a renovation known as total removal or new installation. However, when the profiles constituting the frame are equipped with a support fin, assembly, in particular the adjustment between the two fixing elements, can be hampered by this support fin; it is then necessary to place a shim between the fixing device and the location of the profile receiving the device.

[0007] EP330450 discloses a fixing device for fixing a roof window to a roof structure and allowing angle adjustment. The device comprises a base plate and a two-legged bracket comprising means for adjusting and holding the base plate and the bracket together. The base plate is fixed to an external wall of the window frame, therefore not to the anchoring wall. The adjustment and holding means are notches distributed between one face of the base plate and an opposite face of the bracket. A screw allows the notches to be tightened / loosened together.

[0031] The orientations expressed in the description of the figures are given with reference to a trihedron XYZ in which X represents the longitudinal direction of the device for fixing the joinery frame, oriented from front to rear, Y the transverse direction of the device, and Z the direction perpendicular to said longitudinal and transverse directions of the device, substantially oriented according to the height of the device. The XY plane defines the longitudinal plane of the device, and the ZY plane defines the plane perpendicular to said longitudinal plane of the device.

[0032] To facilitate the understanding of the drawings, the notion of inferior and the notion of superior are defined according to the Z direction, oriented from the bottom to the top of the figure 1 , in other words from the lower to the higher.

[0033] The longitudinal direction of the device is defined by the longitudinal direction of the fixing plate, this direction being furthermore substantially parallel to the anchoring face of the part of the wall to which the fixing plate of the fixing device is fixed.

[0034] By substantially parallel or perpendicular is meant a direction / angle deviating by at most 30 degrees, or even by at most 20 degrees or by at most 10 degrees from a direction that is respectively parallel or perpendicular.

[0035] Identical references may be used throughout the figure to designate identical or similar elements.

[0036] THE figures 1 à 12B will be described together, the figures 10 à 12B illustrating in more detail the operation of the fixing device according to the invention for a particular embodiment.

[0037] The fixing device comprises two separate fixing elements which are secured to each other: a fixing base 1 and a fixing bracket 2 with two branches 21, 22. It further comprises an operating member 3.

[0038] Said bracket 2 comprises a first fixing branch 22 extending along the height of the bracket (direction Z) and a second branch 21 extending along the longitudinal direction X of the device, said branches thus being arranged substantially perpendicular to each other. Said first fixing branch 22 comprises a set of fixing cells 23, distributed over the extent of said branch 22, facilitating the gripping of complementary fixing means, to allow the frame to be fixed there using said complementary fixing means such as one or more screws.

[0039] The fixing base 1 comprises an upper face 100 and a lower face 101, between which there is a recess in which its holding elements 6 are located, capable of cooperating with the holding elements 7 of the bracket to secure the two fixing elements 1, 2 together ( Fig. 12A, Fig. 12B ). The holding elements 7 of the bracket 2 are located in the lower part 210 of the branch 21 of the bracket which is placed on the fixing base 1.

[0040] The respective holding elements 6, 7 of the sole and the bracket are respectively complementary notched elements, which can fit together in order to secure the sole and the bracket.

[0041] According to the example, the holding elements 6 of the sole 1 consist of two separate notched elements 61, 62, movable vertically due to their flexibility. In other words, they are movable more or less perpendicularly relative to the plane of the sole.

[0042] According to the example, the holding elements 6, 61, 62 of the fixing base 1 are operable by the operating member 3, whereas the holding elements 7 of the bracket 2 are fixed, they are not operable by the operating member 3 ( figures 12A et 12B ).

[0043] The operating member 3 comprises two lateral actuating rods 31, 32 which comprise, at their respective free end, a slide 311, 321 with a ramp 3110, 3210 making it possible to actuate the holding elements in the adjustment position or in the holding position.

[0044] When the operating member 3 is inserted by threading (arrow F1) each of its lateral rods 31, 32 along lateral guide grooves 11, 12 (in the lower part) of the fixing sole 1 ( Fig. 10 , 11A), the holding elements 61, 62 which each comprise lateral edges 611, 612, 621, 622, are taken by the ramps 3110, 3210 at these edges. As they go along, the ramps pull (arrow A) respectively said holding elements 61, 62 downwards, so that the notches 610, 620 no longer protrude from the upper face 100 of the sole 1 ( Fig. 11B ). Said holding elements 61, 62 are retracted into the recess of the sole, they are moved into the adjustment position, in other words into an inactive position to assemble them with the holding elements 7 of the bracket, but allowing longitudinal adjustment ( Fig. 12A , arrow F2, F4) the position of the bracket 2 which is placed on the upper face of the sole 1, in particular when screwing the frame to the bracket 2 as will be explained later.

[0045] When the operating member 3 is removed from the sole 1, the holding elements 61, 62 are released and pushed back towards the upper face 100 of the sole 1 ( Fig. 12B , arrow B), they move into the holding position, in other words into the active position to secure the two fixing elements 1, 2. The notches 610, 620 are accessible to fit with the notches 700 of the holding elements 7 of the bracket and thus allow the bracket to be secured to the fixing base.

[0046] The operating member 3 further comprises a handle 30 facilitating its gripping and constituting a locating means capable of locating the location of the bracket 2 when fixing the frame.

[0047] Furthermore, the operating member 3 comprises a stop 33 whose inner face 330 ( Fig. 1 ) allows the anchoring depth to be adjusted when fixing the fixing base to a required depth as explained in detail later with reference to the Fig. 3A and to the Fig. 3C This stop 33 is carried by the handle 30.

[0048] In addition, the operating member 3 comprises a portion 300 of controlled thickness “e” in order to ensure the required sealing thickness, as explained in detail below with reference to the Fig. 4 .

[0049] There figure 13 illustrates another particular embodiment of an operating member 3' meeting the same characteristics as those of the member 3 which has just been described: lateral actuating rods 31', 32', respectively provided with a slide with ramp 311', 321', a handle 30' carrying a stop 33', and a part of controlled thickness 300'. Compared to the previous member 3, the lateral actuating rods 31', 32' start closer to the handle 30' and the connecting bar at the root of the rods has been removed. This member 3' is more easily stackable than the previous member 3 and easier to remove from the sole.

[0050] THE figures 3A à 8 illustrate the method of fixing a sleeper D using the device illustrated in Fig. 1 And 10 à 12B .

[0051] In the method of fixing the frame D illustrated according to a particular embodiment of the invention, we insert (arrow F1 on Fig. 2 ) the operating member 3 in the fixing sole 1, so that the holding elements 6, 61, 62 are in the adjustment position, i.e. retracted into the sole 1, as has been explained in more detail in the comments of the figures 10 à 12B .

[0052] First, the fixing base 1, equipped with the operating member 3 of the holding elements, is fixed to the masonry ( Fig. 3A et Fig. 3B ). The fixing base 1 is used with its holding elements 6, 61, 62 in the adjustment position, in other words retracted, by positioning it on the anchoring face M0 of the wall, which according to the non-limiting example is covered with a layer of insulation “I” (shown in [ Fig. 8 ]), and a facing (not shown in the figures).

[0053] In reference to the Fig. 3A , the lower face 101 of said fixing sole 1 provided with the operating member 3, is arranged on the anchoring face of the wall M0, by placing the inner face 330 of the stop 33, located on the handle 30 of the operating member 3, so that said face 330 bears against the adjacent face M1 of the board, and so that the center of the outlet orifice of the fixing hole 10 is located on the anchoring face M0 at a given anchoring depth “d” (as indicated on [ Fig. 3C ]). More particularly, the anchoring depth can be defined as the distance between the fixing hole of the fixing base and the inner face of the stop, in other words as being substantially the longitudinal distance from the center of the outlet orifice of said fixing hole opening onto the anchoring face of the wall, or from the projection of this point onto a straight line in a longitudinal direction passing through the stop, to the center of the inner face of said stop. The term "outlet orifice" means the orifice of said fixing hole of the fixing base, which is a through hole, which is located on the anchoring face side of the wall when the fixing base is in place, resting on the anchoring face M0 of the wall.

[0054] The location where the center of the outlet orifice of the fixing hole of said sole plate opens is identified by making a marking on said anchoring face M0 of the wall M, for example using a pointed tool T, by passing this tool through the fixing hole 10 of said sole plate ( Fig. 3A ). Then the sole 10 is removed and an anchoring hole is drilled at the location of the mark in the masonry. Alternatively, it is possible to drill directly, for example by passing the drill bit of a drill through said fixing hole 10 of the sole remaining in place. Said fixing sole 1 is fixed to said anchoring face M0 of the wall, for example by doweling and then screwing a fixing screw V1 into the masonry, the dowel and the screw passing both through said fixing hole 10 of said sole and into the anchoring hole of the masonry ( Fig. 3B ).

[0055] In reference to Fig. 4 , the fixing bracket 2 is then installed by fitting the lower face 210 of the second branch 21 of the bracket onto the upper part 100 of the sole, and by sliding it in a longitudinal translation (arrow F2) guided by the sole 1, the holding elements 61, 62 of said sole being always held in the adjustment position (retracted into the sole) by the operating member 3, so that they cannot cooperate with those of the bracket at this stage of the process, which allows the position of the bracket to be adjusted for the rest of the process.

[0056] In reference to Fig. 5 , the sealing gasket (bottom seal J1) is positioned in contact on the part 300 of controlled thickness “e” of the operating member 3 in order to ensure the sealing thickness required for housing the sealing gasket (bottom seal J1).

[0057] In reference to Fig. 6A , the profile of the frame D shown in longitudinal section, is positioned (arrow F3) at the right of the masonry board and in contact with the caulking (joint backing J1), which has just been laid, and opposite the branch 22 of the receiving bracket of the frame. The profile includes a support fin D1 which is located at the level of the clearance 20 of the bracket.

[0058] In reference to the Fig. 6B à Fig. 6D , the profile is then fixed by its inner rebate to said first branch 22 of the bracket 2, using at least one screw V2, for example a self-drilling screw with a clipping groove, by introducing said screw V2 into a hole provided on the profile of the frame to screw it into one of the fixing sockets 23 of said branch 22. The location of said first branch 22 of the bracket to insert the screw therein, said branch being hidden by the profile, is marked at the right of the handle 30 of the operating member 33 which remains visible, and along the imaginary reference line R ( Fig. 6B ). When screwing, the bracket 2 is translated under the screwing force (arrows V and F4 in Fig. 6C ) by its branch 22 of the receiving bracket of the frame, while being guided in longitudinal translation by its second branch 21 and following the sole 1, until the first branch 22 of the bracket 2 touches the profile of the frame, the support fin D1 being housed in the clearance 20 of the bracket 2 and at the front of the sole 1 ( Fig. 6D ). This fixing configuration allows for a solid fixing of the frame to the bracket.

[0059] Then, with reference to Fig. 7 , the operating member 3 is removed (arrow F5) from the sole 1 in order to release the holding elements 61, 62 of the sole retained in the adjustment position, and to activate them in the holding position, so that they can cooperate with the holding elements 7 of the second branch 21 of the bracket which face them. The respective holding elements of the bracket 7 and of the sole 61, 62 will be able to fit into each other to secure the bracket 2 to the fixing sole 1 fixed in the masonry.

[0060] We then obtain, as represented in Fig. 8 for this example, a frame D fixed to a wall covered with a layer of insulation "I", the bracket 2 being supported against the frame and secured to the fixing flange 1. A sealing joint J2 finalizes the caulking. The support fin D1 of the frame D does not hinder the fixing of the frame to the bracket, and does not require the use of suitable shims. In addition, the installation recommendations (anchoring depth, caulking thickness) are respected.

[0061] In practice, a plurality of devices are used distributed around the edge of the panel to fix the frame.

[0062] The concepts of "lower" and "upper" are used in the description of the drawings as indicated above to facilitate understanding. The so-called lower face of the sole is the face coming into contact with the anchoring face of the wall, and the so-called upper face is the opposite face, which comes into contact with said second branch 21 of the bracket 2.

[0063] According to a variant of the invention shown in figures 14 et 15 , the fixing bracket 2 is provided with a reinforcing element 4 force-fastened, reversibly, between the two branches 21, 22 of the bracket. This reinforcing element 4 comprises a first part 42 secured to the first branch 22, and which is equipped with projecting lateral clipping means 420, which are force-fastened inside the lateral edges of said first branch 22, receiving the frame. This reinforcing element 4 also comprises a second part 41 secured to the second branch 21 and which comprises a lug 410 inserted into a notch 211 of said second branch 21.

[0064] Said reinforcing element 4 comprises openwork portions 401, 402, 403, 404 which come opposite the fixing cells 23 of the first branch 22. Said openwork parts are separated by partitions which extend substantially perpendicular to the direction of the second branch 22, and between two side walls 43, 44 which comprise said reinforcing element.

[0065] This reinforcing element 4 is fixed to the bracket 2 to stiffen it between its two branches when reinforced assembly is necessary.

[0066] The invention has the advantage of providing a device for fixing a frame whose operating member is recoverable, to be reusable with another fixing bracket and fixing base assembly, and where appropriate including a reinforcing element. On a joinery installation site, it is not necessary to have as many operating members as fixing bracket and fixing base assemblies and where appropriate including a reinforcing element. For example, a separate batch of operating members can be provided for an entire site.

[0067] The invention also has the advantage of being able to provide a device comprising a fixing bracket and a fixing base which can be secured to each other, having a clearance, thus being able to adapt to the fixing of any frame profile, with or without a support fin, and the fixing being robust. If necessary, a reinforcing element is added.

[0068] The invention can therefore be applied to the installation of joinery in the case of a complete renovation or to the installation of new joinery.
