Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a connecting device for joining two door or window components in a butt joint of a miter joint, wherein the components are provided with at least one hollow chamber or milled recess. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for forming a butt joint as a positive-locking miter joint using a connecting device of the aforementioned type.
[0002] US Patent 2,994,414 A1 discloses a door frame construction in which the frame profile consists of an inner and an outer profile. The inner profile has recesses in its walls into which a clip is pulled against a counterpart by means of a screw in the mitered area. The outer profile is capped with a crowning profile.
[0003] The device according to FR 2 904 068 A1 has outer and inner studs, each supported on the inner surfaces of the walls of tubular profiles. A screw separates the studs. A pressure boosting unit is arranged at the points where the outer studs are in contact with the profiles. This unit increases the support pressure exerted by the outer stud on the walls with respect to a surface of the outer stud during the separation of the studs, in order to form a cavity connection between the profiles and the device.
[0004] DE 18 24 855 U discloses a device for the secure connection of mitered hollow profiles for the manufacture of doors, windows, shop windows, balcony railings, display cases and the like. Angle pieces are inserted into the hollow profiles made of flat angle pieces and secured by clamping bolts.
[0005] EP 0 644 312 A2 shows a right-angled connection structure for hollow profiles for the construction of door and window frames. Using an insert consisting of two flat, superimposed angle bars, these are inserted into the ends of the sections to be joined. The ends of the angle bars have teeth that protrude from them to interlock within the openings of the profile when the bars are spread apart.
[0006] DE 37 26 594 A1 deals with the design of corner joints for hollow profile frames, in which corner joint angles are inserted with their legs into the hollow profiles to be joined with some play. To improve the clamping of the hollow profiles in the miter area, a clamping element rotatably mounted on the corner joint angle is actuated by means of a clamping screw such that one leg of the clamping element, by bearing against a stop of the corner joint angle, generates a reaction force which, via the action of another leg on the inner wall surface of the associated hollow profile, leads to clamping of the hollow profiles in the miter area.
[0007] Another design of corner joints with aluminium profiles, which have a miter and contain bores at a certain distance from the intersection of the legs, which run at an angle to the leg, or at an angle of 45° and into which clamping wedges with threaded bores, which are cut at an angle before assembly, are inserted and which are tightened by means of threaded screws after assembly, is shown in DE 17 84 599 A.
[0008] CH 108879 A discloses a corner connection for wooden greenhouse and cold frame window frames, in which it is held by a metal angle piece, which can be placed against abutting strips from the outside and by a screw bolt with nut, which engages the angle piece.
[0009] A spreading corner connector is also known from DE 10 2016 004 808 A1. This corner connector is inserted into hollow profiles, and then fastening pins are driven in through holes provided in the hollow profiles.
[0010] As the presented state of the art demonstrates, there are numerous ways to permanently join components for doors, gates, or windows at miter joints. To create such joints, the components must have at least one hollow chamber or milled recess. This applies not only to light metal profiles but also to all other materials such as steel, plastic, or wood. Depending on the material, such joints can be very complex and expensive to implement, sometimes requiring specialized machinery. A miter joint is defined as a corner connection between two profile components that meet at an angle.
[0011] The object of the invention is therefore to create a miter joint between two components of door, gate, or window construction using all building materials that possess the necessary stability, which can be produced simply, quickly, and cost-effectively without additional machinery. Such a miter joint should be achievable without the use of adhesives or pins, allowing for easy disassembly.
[0012] The object of the invention is achieved by the features of claims 1 and 9. The dependent claims following claim 1 describe a further embodiment of the inventive concept.
[0013] The connection method according to the invention for two connectable and also separable components of doors, gates, or windows can be implemented regardless of the choice of material. Therefore, the components can be made of steel, light metal, plastic, or wood, or a combination of these materials. A prerequisite for implementing this connection method is that the components are equipped with at least one hollow chamber.
[0014] For the sake of simplicity and clarity, the following description refers only to the use of light metal profiles, although the invention also includes the use of other materials, such as steel or plastic, including hybrid materials, or wood.
[0015] Lightweight metal profiles used for doors, windows, or similar applications typically have at least one cavity inside for stability reasons. To permanently join such profiles, for example at a 90° angle or any other angle, a miter joint is provided at the joint between two mitered profiles. A miter joint is defined as a corner connection between two components that meet at an angle, preferably in a design with at least one cavity or chamber. According to the invention, to create a permanent, watertight connection in this joint, at least on the exterior, an angled connecting device is required. In a first preferred embodiment, this device consists of an angled pressure piece, wherein the pressure piece has lateral legs with a U-shaped cross-section.This pressure piece effectively connects an angled counter-pressure piece with two pressure legs. This counter-pressure piece is embedded between the U-shaped legs of the pressure piece. The dimensions of the two parts are precisely matched with minimal clearance, so that the embedded pressure legs essentially align with the top edge of the U-shaped legs. For assembly, this means that, for example, the first part of the complete connection, consisting of the angled pressure piece and the embedded counter-pressure piece, is inserted into one of the hollow chambers of the first light metal profile. The second light metal profile is then slid onto the free U-shaped leg with the embedded pressure leg. This results in the two light metal profiles abutting each other with a mitered joint at the connection point.
[0016] In a further embodiment not according to the invention, the connecting device may consist of two angled pieces that are essentially the same width and whose legs lie against each other. In this embodiment as well, one of the angled pieces forms the pressure piece and the other the counter-pressure piece. At least one pressure screw, preferably in the mitered area, is also inserted in the counter-pressure piece.
[0017] The hollow chambers and the design of the connecting devices are dimensionally matched so that there is only minimal play between the inner walls of the hollow chamber and the immersed legs of the connecting devices. To achieve a force-fit and / or form-fit connection between the two light metal profiles, a pressure screw is located in a threaded bore accessible from the inside of the counter-pressure piece in the mitered area, and / or preferably two pressure screws are located in threaded bores in one of its legs. To allow for the actuation of at least one of these pressure screws, the light metal profiles to be joined are cut free in the joint area on the inside so that the pressure screw or the other pressure screws can be actuated with a suitable tool.Tightening the pressure screw causes the counter-pressure piece and the pressure piece to be tensioned simultaneously in both hollow chambers of the light metal profiles to be joined together.
[0018] Because access to the pressure screw is gained from the inside of the lightweight metal profiles, a virtually watertight connection is created in the miter joint on the outside. However, it is also possible for the pressure screws to have access to the miter area from the outside of the lightweight metal profiles.
[0019] In a further preferred embodiment, in addition to the pressure screw, pressure screws are also provided in the miter area or only in the legs of the counter-pressure piece. Access to these pressure screws is also achieved via the interior through cutouts in the light metal profiles. This preferred embodiment makes it possible to achieve not only a friction-fit but also a positive-fit connection between the connecting device and the light metal profiles to be joined by applying increased force.
[0020] Both the angled pressure piece and the angled counter-pressure piece of the connecting device can be made of steel or stainless steel or light metal or plastic or a plastic composite material.
[0021] To achieve strong adhesion within the hollow chambers, the surfaces of the printed areas can be textured with a high-grip surface, grooves, a grid pattern, or similar features. This significantly improves adhesion and bonding within the hollow chambers.
[0022] The above-described embodiments allow for the simple and cost-effective production of angled light metal profiles. The commonly used gluing and subsequent pinning of the mitered joints can be eliminated by using these connecting devices.
[0023] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to various schematically illustrated embodiments. Figure 1 shows a preferred embodiment of an angled connecting device; Figure 2 shows a close-up view of a pressure piece of the embodiment according to Figure 1Figure 3 shows a single view of a counter-pressure piece according to the design shown in Figure 1 Figure 4 shows an angled design of two light metal profiles with the connecting device according to Figure 1 Figure 5 shows a close-up view of a light metal profile with a connecting device inserted on one side; Figure 6 shows how Figure 5 , however from a different perspective; Figure 7 shows another preferred embodiment of a connecting device in a sectional view; Figure 8 shows another embodiment of an angled connecting device not according to the invention.
[0024] In the Figure 1A preferred embodiment of a connecting device 1 is shown, consisting essentially of an angled pressure piece 2, which has a U-shape at both legs, and a counter-pressure piece 3 inserted between these legs. A pressure screw 4 is shown in a threaded bore in the mitered area of the counter-pressure piece 3. The pressure piece 2 has pressure surfaces 16 on its outer surface, and the counter-pressure piece 3 has 25 pressure surfaces 17 on its inner surface. The angle between the two legs of the pressure piece 2 and the counter-pressure piece 3 can be configured in any desired angular position.
[0025] In a separate presentation, in the Figure 2 The pressure piece 2 has been shown again. It can be seen that, starting from the pressure surfaces 16, the projecting legs 7 are in the form of U-shaped legs 5 and 6. Contrary to the embodiment shown in the illustration... Figure 1 is in the Figure 2Additionally, a bore 18 is provided in each of the side legs. These bores 18 are not required for every connection design of light metal profiles 11, 12.
[0026] The counter-pressure piece 3, which interacts with the pressure piece 2, can be seen in the detailed illustration. Figure 3 can be removed. Starting from the mitered area, pressure legs 8 and 9 are located to the left and right of it, which are formed with the pressure surfaces 17 in the inner angle area. The pressure screw 4 is shown in the mitered area, which, when tightened, is positioned against the mitered area of the pressure piece 2, thus creating a watertight connection between the light metal profiles 11 and 12 in the outer area 26.
[0027] The Figure 4Figure 11 shows an assembly in which a light metal profile 11 abuts a light metal profile 12 via a mitered joint 13. Within the mitered joint, i.e., between the two legs of the light metal profiles 11 and 12, there is an opening 10 to provide access to the pressure screw 4. The counter-pressure piece 3 can be clamped in the hollow chambers 14 through the opening 10. In this embodiment, bores 19 are provided laterally next to the opening 10 in the legs of the light metal profiles 11 and 12. These bores 18 allow access to pressure screws or connecting screws (not shown) to create, for example, an even stronger connection between the light metal profiles 11 and 12.
[0028] The following details show how the connecting device 1 can be placed, for example, in a hollow chamber 14 of the light metal profile 11. Figures 5 and 6 again.
[0029] The Figure 7 Another preferred embodiment of a profile connection can be derived from this. In this embodiment, the connecting device 1 is inserted within the chambers 14 of the light metal profiles 11 and 12. To achieve a very strong connection between the light metal profiles 11 and 12, screw connections 15 are inserted, for example, through the bores 18 in the U-shaped legs 5 and 6. These screw connections are positively and force-fit connected to the light metal profiles 11 and 12. In a first step, this type of connection joins the pressure piece 2 to the light metal profiles 11 and 12. Only in a second step is the pressure screw 4 in the mitered area, or other pressure screws not shown, tightened against the already fixed pressure piece 2, thereby clamping the pressure surfaces 17 in the hollow chambers 14.
[0030] Another non-inventive embodiment of a connecting device 20 can be the Figure 8 can be removed. This embodiment consists, for example, of two identical angled pieces that lie against each other. One angled piece acts as a pressure piece 23 and the other as a counter-pressure piece 24. The pressure piece 23 has pressure legs 21, 22 with outer pressure surfaces 16, and the counter-pressure piece 24 has pressure legs 8, 9 with inner pressure surfaces 17. The pressure screw 4 has been inserted at least in the mitered area of the counter-pressure piece 24.
[0031] The angle between the legs of the pressure piece 2 and the counter-pressure piece 3 can be made at any desired degree. Reference sign
