Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a piece of seating furniture comprising a seat and at least one armrest next to the seat, which is detachably connected to the seat via at least one connecting fitting.

[0002] From PL 232 227 B1, a seating furniture is known which has curved armrests on opposite sides. These armrests can be moved from a folded position to an extended position, in which the seat surface is extended on both sides to form a reclining surface. Such a feature makes the seating furniture flexible for various applications, but the armrests can only be positioned laterally on the seating furniture.

[0003] GB 2 460 546 A discloses a seating furniture in which armrests are placed loosely next to a seat and can be used as a stool when needed, positioned at a distance from the seat. This increases flexibility in setting up the seating furniture; however, the loose arrangement of the armrests has disadvantages in use.

[0004] Another piece of seating furniture with a support device is shown in DE 20 2004 003 502 U1.

[0005] It is therefore the object of the present invention to create a piece of seating furniture that can be used flexibly and is easy to handle.

[0006] This problem is solved with a piece of seating furniture having the features of claim 1.

[0007] The seating furniture according to the invention comprises a seat and at least one armrest adjacent to the seat, which is detachably connected to the seat via at least one connecting fitting. The armrest has a foldable support frame and a seat element that can be supported on the support frame. This allows the user to use the furniture in a compact position when the armrest is positioned next to the seat via the connecting fitting. If several people are to be in the room, the armrest can be detached from the seat and the support frame of the armrest unfolded, preparing the support frame for a new position so that the seat element is then supported on the armrest via the support frame. This allows the armrest to be positioned freely in the room, thus providing an additional seat that can be efficiently stored on the seating furniture when needed.

[0008] Preferably, the at least one armrest can be attached to the seat via the connecting fitting. This allows the armrest to be positioned at a distance from the floor, which remains easily accessible for cleaning and ensures a compact arrangement of the armrest in the folded position.

[0009] According to the invention, the armrest, when mounted on the seat, is folded in a U-shape, and an arc-shaped connection of the U-shaped folded armrest is arranged on one upper side. If the armrest is padded, it can thus be used comfortably at the arc-shaped connection to support the arms or another body part without the additional functionality being visible. The U-shaped arrangement of the armrest allows for a compact, inconspicuous mounting position. In an advantageous embodiment, a flexible, particularly textile, cover can additionally be placed over the armrest to create a seamless appearance.

[0010] Preferably, the armrest includes a swiveling backrest in addition to the seat element. In the assembled position, one leg of the U-shaped armrest can form the seat element and another leg the backrest. The inclination of the backrest is preferably adjustable on the seat element via at least one swivel fitting. In the folded position, this fitting places the backrest onto the seat element and can optionally lift the backrest away from the seat element for comfortable seating. The backrest can be fixed continuously or in increments relative to the seat element via one or more swivel fittings. The swivel fittings can be designed as locking or friction fittings.

[0011] In a preferred embodiment, a headrest is fixed to the backrest and is adjustable relative to the backrest. The headrest can preferably be moved along a linear guide so that it can be adjusted to the size of the person sitting. For a compact arrangement, the headrest can be slid onto the seat element. In a further advantageous embodiment, the tilt of the headrest can optionally be adjusted, for example, via locking and / or friction fittings.

[0012] The armrest's support frame is preferably arranged within a covering of the U-shaped armrest in the position mounted on the seat. The support frame can, for example, be located within the armrest's upholstery and thus does not protrude. Furthermore, the support frame can be at least partially concealed within an overlap between the seat and armrest. It can also be concealed by a covering or a removable cover. The armrest can be surrounded by a covering, for example, made of textile material and / or upholstery, so that the support frame is not visible and preferably not perceptible upon contact with an external surface, and then optionally protrudes from the seat element of the armrest through an opening in the covering. The support frame can include one or more pivotable brackets or foot elements that are fixed in the unfolded position by a locking mechanism, a friction mechanism, or a stop. A toggle lock or a gravity- or spring-loaded over-center position can also be used to fix the end position.

[0013] The furniture according to the invention preferably has two armrests, in particular on opposite sides of the seat, each of which is held to the seat by at least one connecting fitting and can be removed individually. This allows a seating group of three to be created from a single seat.

[0014] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to an exemplary embodiment and the accompanying drawings. These show: Figure 1 shows a section view of a seating element according to the invention; Figures 2A and 2B show two views of the seating element. Figure 1 with further fittings; Figures 3A and 3B two views of a detached arm section in different positions; Figures 4A and 4B two views of the detached arm section in an unfolded position; Figures 5A and 5B two side views of the arm section in an unfolded position, and Figures 6A and 6B two front views of the arm section in the unfolded position.

[0015] A seating element 1 can, for example, be designed as a sofa or armchair and comprises a seat 2, which is supported at the base on one or more leg elements 4. An optional upward-projecting backrest 5 is provided on the seat 2, and an armrest 3 is arranged laterally next to the seat 2. Another armrest 3 may be provided on the opposite side. The armrest 3 is held to the seat 2 by at least one connecting fitting 9. The connecting fitting 9 comprises a first part 7, which is fixed to the armrest 3, and a second part 8, which is fixed to the seat 2. The first part 7 can be hooked onto the second part 8, so that the armrest 3, in its assembled position, is positioned above a surface. On the right side in Figure 1 In addition to seat section 2, another seat section 2 with an arm section 4, a corner element or another additional piece of furniture can be arranged.

[0016] As in the Figure 2A and 4A As shown, the armrest 3, within an outer casing, comprises a pivot fitting 18, which has a first lever 16 and a second lever 17. The lever 16 is connected to a frame 19 of the seat section 12, while the second lever 17 is connected to a frame 20 of a backrest 13. The seat section 12 and the backrest 13 are folded together in a U-shape when mounted on the seat section 2. The casing of the armrest 3 can be formed by padding and by a cover made of textile material, which are shown here only schematically as dashed lines.

[0017] In Figure 2B The connecting fitting 9 is shown in detail, with the first part 7 fixed to the second part 8 to suspend the arm section 3. The connection between the two parts 7 and 8 can be linear and / or pivotal.

[0018] The armrest 3 is held detachably from the seat section 2 when the connecting fitting 9 is released and the first part 7 is removed from the second part 8, as shown in Figure 3A As shown. In the detached position, a support frame 10 and 11 can be unfolded on the arm section 3, moving from a folded position to an unfolded position. The support frame 10 and 11 can comprise one or more brackets or foot elements, which are, for example, pivotable to allow for compact storage and, if necessary, to be positioned projecting downwards from the seat element 12, as shown in Figure 3BThe first two parts 7 of the connecting fitting 9 are arranged on the underside of the seat element 12 and thus do not interfere with its use. In the position shown, the backrest 13 is still folded onto the seat element 12, and the armrest 3 can be used as a stool or placed next to the seat element 2 as a leg rest. The backrest 13 is connected to the seat element 12 via a bend 14. A headrest 15 is also attached to the backrest 13.

[0019] In the Figure 4A and 4BThe arm section 3 is shown in an unfolded position in which the support frame 10 and 11 provides support for the seat element 12, with the backrest 13 pivoted into an upwardly projecting position from the seat element 12. The support frame 10 and 11 comprises three brackets that are rotatably mounted about different axes on a frame 19 of the seat element 12 and ensure an appropriate seat height for the seat element 12. The support frame 10 includes a bracket that can be pivoted about an axis largely parallel to an axis of a pivot fitting 18.

[0020] The frame 19 is connected on opposite sides to a pivot fitting 18, with the first lever 16 being fixed to the frame 19. The second lever 17 of the pivot fitting 18 is fixed to a frame 20 of the backrest 13. The pivot fitting 18 can be designed as a locking fitting or a friction fitting, or a combination of both types can be used to fix the backrest 13 at the desired inclination relative to the seat element 12. The headrest 15 is adjustably mounted on the backrest 13, with in Figure 4A The headrest 15 rests directly against the backrest 13. If a taller person sits on the seat element 12, the headrest 15 can be raised via an adjustment mechanism, as shown in Figure 4BThe adjustment fitting comprises two holders 21, through each of which a rod 22 is guided, on which the headboard 15 is held. The rods 22 can be fixed at the desired height of the headboard 15 by the holders 21.

[0021] In the Figure 5A and 5B The armrest 3 is shown in a side view in the seated position, with the headrest 15 shown once directly adjacent to the backrest 13 and once in an elevated adjustment position. It can be seen that the swivel fitting 18 is fixed to the frame 19 with the first lever 16 and to the frame 20 with the second lever 17, thus allowing the backrest 13 to be adjusted from the U-shaped folded position according to... Figure 3AThe seat can be moved into the unfolded seating position by means of a friction and / or locking mechanism. The force assistance in the unfolded end position is increased by two tabs 23 on the lever 16, which touch each other at a contact surface in the end position. The frame 19, the swivel fitting 18 and the frame 20 are arranged within the upholstered seat element 12 and the upholstered backrest 13.

[0022] In the Figure 6A and 6B The unfolded armrest 3 is shown in the seated position with different positions of the headrest 15. The backrest 13 encompasses the frame 20 to which the brackets 21 are fixed. The rods 22 project into the backrest 13.

[0023] The armrest 3 can be folded again from this position by moving the headrest 15 onto the backrest 13 and pivoting the backrest 13 with the headrest 15 onto the seat element 12. Then the support frame 10 and 11 with the brackets or foot elements are folded in so that the first two parts 7 of the respective connecting fittings 9 can be fixed to the second parts 8 of the respective connecting fittings 9 on the seat element 2 of the seating furniture 1.

[0024] The removable armrest 3, when attached to the seat section 2, serves to support arms or other body parts. It can therefore also be used, for example, as a leg rest, headrest, or backrest.

[0025] The seat can of course also be used as a lying surface for one person; in this respect, the seating furniture according to the invention also includes a reclining furniture.

[0026] Instead of friction fittings, link chains can also be used, which represent a chaining together of two or more friction joints. Reference symbol list
