Description

[0001] OAR

[0002] Technical Field

[0003] The invention relates to an oar used in rowing.

[0004] In particular, the invention relates to an oar whose resistance to wind and water is reduced and at the same time its adjustment and assembly are facilitated.

[0005] Known State of the Art

[0006] In the sport of rowing, athletes compete against time or other athletes using the necessary equipment on a boat. The most important of these equipment is the oar itself.

[0007] In the present applications, oars generally consist of two parts, blade and shaft. The shaft is a long and thin hollow pipe. The blade is the part of the oar that is located at the end of the shaft and enters the water. In the present technique, oar production is as follows; The shaft part is produced by wrapping the composite material on to a pipe geometry mold made of metal, usually by the pipe wrapping "roll wrapping" method, and then by removing the composite shaft from the pipe used as a mold after the resin is cured. Here, the composite shaft is pulled towards one side and removed from the pipe mold. Simultaneously, the blade section of the oar is produced in a different mold by combining the necessary composite materials and curing them. In order for the shaft part to be joined with the blade, a deep hole is left in the shaft geometry in the transition part of the blade. The shaft and blade are then inserted into each other on an adjustable fixture and fixed to each other with the use of an adhesive.

[0008] In the production method mentioned above, which is applied in the present technique, the oar shaft can be produced with limited geometries. For this reason, shaft geometries can be conical in shape with circular cross-section. Otherwise, the composite shaft cannot be removed from the inner pipe mold. Therefore, it is not possible to produce shafts in any special geometry or low wind resistance geometry. In addition, the joining (bonding) of the separately produced shaft and blade brings additional labor and assembly material consumption. At the same time, these two parts that are inserted in each other cannot have a straight and smooth transition zone due to their transition geometries. The hole left on the blade for joining also causes the blade to become quite thick in the transition zone. Similarly, additional installation parts are subsequently glued to the necessary areas of the existing oar so that adjustments can be made. This leads to additional weight and material consumption in the oar. Accordingly, the oars in existing applications cause disadvantages regarding weight, wind resistance, water inlet-outlet resistances ot the oar.

[0009] The document numbered CN216861790 can be shown as an example of the known state of the art in the research conducted in the literature. The said document relates to the rowing oar. In the said invention, an oar was mentioned, comprising a flap assembly, a first coupling bar and a second coupling bar. The said flap assembly is installed separably with the first coupling bar and the second coupling bar. The oar can be disassembled before and after use, and the first coupling bar and the second coupling bar are fixed with a fastener on the flap assembly. The dismountable oar creates a disadvantage in wind and water inlet-outlet resistance due to the fact that the flap assembly and the bars consist of separate parts.

[0010] Therefore, the existence of the above problems and the inadequacy of the existing solutions required an improvement to be made in the relevant technical field.

[0011] Objective of the Invention

[0012] The present invention relates to an oar, which eliminates the disadvantages mentioned above and provides new advantages to the respective technical field.

[0013] The main objective of the invention is to provide an oar with a flat transition geometry that reduces the resistance of wind and water inlet-outlet by means of monolithic (one-piece) structure of the shaft and blade.

[0014] The main objective of the invention is to provide an oar with a blade geometry without protrusions that reduces the resistance of wind and water inlet-outlet.

[0015] Another objective of the invention is to provide an oar that eliminates the need for labor and additional assembly materials in production, the bonding process applied in production and at the same time manufacturing defects by means of the monolithic (one-piece) structure of the shaft and blade.

[0016] Another objective of the invention is to provide an oar that eliminates the weight problem caused by additional assembly materials in production.

[0017] Another objective of the invention is to provide an oar that allows adjustment and installation without bonding additional parts on the shaft.

[0018] Another objective of the invention is to provide an oar that allows placing additional support materials at zones where excessive loads are formed when rowing the oars and that reinforces the construction. in order to achieve all the objectives mentioned above and those that may arise from the detailed description, the invention is an oar used in the field of rowing, wherein it comprises the following:

[0019] - a shaft in a drop-shaped geometric structure with low wind resistance,

[0020] - a blade (paddle) in monolithic structure with the shaft, disposed at the end of the shaft and having a surface without protrusions,

[0021] - joint section, which forms the jointing area of the shaft and blade and provides a flat and smooth transition surface in the joint area,

[0022] - a grip adjustment section that is disposed at the end of the shaft held by the athlete where grip adjustment channel with a flat surface extends from the top and bottom surface along its length an inward recessed structure,

[0023] - a grip in a structure suitable for the grip adjustment section, which allows the total length of the oar to be adjusted by moving back and forth on the grip adjustment section to the shaft axis by means of the grip adjustment channel,

[0024] - a collar adjustment section, disposed on the shaft extending from the top and bottom surface along the length of the collar adjustment channel with flat surfaces in an inward recessed structure,

[0025] - a collar in a structure suitable for the collar adjustment section, which allows the oar to be connected to boat and at the same time the length of the load and force lever to be adjusted by moving back and forth on the collar adjustment section to the shaft axis by means of the collar adjustment channel,

[0026] - a collar to grip shaft section, which forms the part of the shaft that narrows from the collar adjustment section to the grip adjustment section, and which increases the mobility of the athlete by narrowing of the parts close to the athlete in the boat.

[0043] Detailed Description of the Invention

[0044] In this detailed description, the preferred alternatives of the oar, which is the subject of the invention, are described only for a better understanding of the subject and in a way that does not create any limiting effect.

[0045] Figure 1 shown the angled view of the oar that is the subject of the invention. According to this, in its most basic form the oar comprises, a shaft (10) in a drop-shaped geometric structure with low wind resistance; a blade (20) in monolithic (one-piece) structure with the shaft (10) disposed at the end of the shaft (10) and having a surface without protrusions; a joint section (30), which forms the jointing area of the shaft (10) and blade (20) and provides a flat and smooth transition in the joint area; a grip (40) disposed on the grip adjustment section (21 ) of the shaft (10) and allows for the adjustment of the total length of the oar with its back and forth movement of the shaft (10); and a collar (50) disposed on collar adjustment section (22) of the shaft (10), which allows the oar to be connected to boat and at the same time the length of the load and force lever to be adjusted by moving back and forth on the shaft (10) axis.

[0046] The oar, which is the subject of the invention, has a shaft (10) and blade (20) at the end of the shaft (10) in a monolithic structure, manufactured in one piece in terms of general structure. The shaft (10), which is given a side view in Figure 2a, has a drop-shaped geometric structure towards the direction of travel as seen in figure 2b. In this way, the wind resistance is reduced during the movement of the oar out of the water.

[0047] The blade (20), which is disposed at the end of the shaft (10), is produced monolithically with the shaft (10) and for this reason, the surface of the blade (20) has no protrusions. Due to the fact that the surface of the blade (20) is completely free of protrusions, its wind resistance during movement of the oar out of water has been reduced and entry and exit of the oar in and out of water has been made easy.

[0048] As seen in Figure 3, the joint section (30), which forms the jointing area of the shaft (10) and the blade (20), provides a flat and smooth transition in the joint area. This flat and smooth transition is achieved by means of the fact that the blade (20) is manufactured monolithically with the shaft (10). Accordingly, there is no double-walled transition geometry on the joint section (30) of the shaft (10) and blade (20). Therefore, the oar's wind resistance has been reduced and the entry and exit of the oar water has been facilitated.

[0049] At the end of the shaft (10) held by the athlete, there is a grip adjustment section (21). From the top and bottom of the said grip adjustment section (21) lies a flat-surfaced grip adjustment channel (211) recessed inwards along the length of the grip adjustment section (21). On the grip adjustment section (21), there is the grip (40), which allows the athlete to hold the oar. The said grip (40) can move back and forth via the said grip adjustment channel (221) on the axis of the shaft (10) on the grip adjustment section (21). Accordingly, grip (40) is arranged in a manner to be suitable for the grip adjustment section (21). The grip (40) moves on the grip adjustment section (21), allowing the overall length of the oar to be adjusted. The grip adjustment section (21) allows the grip (40) to be mounted and adjusted without attaching an additional support part to the shaft (10)

[0050] There is a collar adjustment section (22) on the shaft (10). From the upper and lower surface of the said collar adjustment section (22) lies a collar adjustment channel (221) with a flat surface in an inward-recessed structure along the length of the collar adjustment section (22). A collar (50) is located on the collar adjustment section (22) which allows the oar to be attached to the boat and at the same time the length of the oar load and force arm to be adjusted. The said collar (50) can move back and forth on the collar adjustment section (22) on the shaft (10) axis via the collar adjustment channel (221) to allow adjustment of the load and force arm length. Accordingly, it is arranged in a manner to be suitable for the collar adjustment channel (221). The collar adjustment section (22) allows the collar (50) to be mounted and adjusted without attaching an additional support part to the shaft (10) The a collar to grip shaft section (23), which forms the part of the shaft (10) that extends from the collar adjustment section (22) to the grip adjustment section (21), has in a narrowing shape. In this way, the parts of the oar that remain close to the athlete in the boat become narrow and the mobility of the athlete increases.
