Abstract
Description
[0001] bed frame
[0002] The present invention relates to a bed frame.
[0003] Bed frames are usually box-shaped and form a support surface for a mattress or the sleeper themselves. Fixed bed frames are common, as they are mainly used in houses or apartments. However, folding or collapsible beds are also common, where the bed frames are only at their maximum size when sleeping and otherwise take up less space when folded. Such folding beds are particularly, but not exclusively, of interest for camping, as they require less space during the day. It should be noted that many countries have a maximum load weight for vehicles or caravans, which limits the components that can be taken along.
[0004] The object underlying the invention is to propose a foldable or collapsible bed frame that is suitable for use in camping.
[0005] The invention solves the problem by a bed frame having a base body and four frame elements, wherein the four frame elements are arranged in pairs on opposite sides of the base body, wherein the four frame elements each have a fixed end face and a free end face, and wherein the fixed end faces of the four frame elements are connected to the base body via joints and are designed to be movable separately from one another.
[0006] In the bed frame according to the invention, four frame elements are attached to a base body. Because the attachment is via joints, the frame elements can be moved relative to the base body and independently of one another. In particular, they can be folded out or unfolded. The four frame elements preferably form the two long sides of the unfolded bed frame and the resulting bed in pairs. The four frame elements are also attached in pairs - but in other combinations - to two opposite sides of the base body. Thus, in the unfolded state, two frame elements form the head end and two frame elements form the foot end of the bed. The frame elements - preferably rod-shaped - each have two end faces: a fixed end face and a free end face. The frame elements are connected to the base body via the fixed end face.
[0007] In one embodiment, the frame elements are connected to leg elements at their free end faces and / or can be reversibly connected to them. The extension of such leg elements when the bed frame is unfolded preferably runs perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the associated frame elements. In one embodiment, the leg elements are connected to the frame elements via joints. In an alternative embodiment, the leg elements are rigidly connected to the frame elements. In one embodiment, there is a rigid connection between some of the combinations of frame element and associated leg element, and the other part of the combinations each has a joint between the frame element and leg element. When unfolded, the frame elements thus each rest on the floor via two components: with the base body on the attached end face and with the leg element on the free end face.Alternatively, the leg elements are reversibly connected to the frame elements, e.g. via a type of detachable screw connection, and can thus be attached and removed again.
[0008] To create a resting surface for the sleeper, one design provides at least one separate support element. The at least one support element is located between the two long sides of the bed and between the two frame elements arranged on the same side of the base. The support element thus bridges the free space between the two adjacent frame elements. Preferably, multiple support elements are provided.
[0009] The two frame elements of the aforementioned embodiment, between which the support element is located, are only indirectly connected to one another via the at least one support element – or in one embodiment: only via several support elements. Thus, in particular, there is no end-face bridging element connecting the free end faces of the two frame elements. In other words: the unfolded bed frame is open at the head and foot with respect to the frame formed by the frame elements. Overall, the unfolded frame thus has the shape of a capital letter H. This is in contrast, for example, to the shape of the angular capital letter O in a fixed bed.
[0010] One embodiment is that the base body encloses an interior space, and that the at least one support element and the interior space are designed and coordinated such that the interior accommodates the at least one support element. According to this embodiment, when the bed is not needed, the at least one support element can be stowed within the base body. This reduces the space required for the folded bed frame. In one embodiment, several support elements are provided, which preferably all fit within the interior space.
[0011] According to a further embodiment, two of the four frame elements are indirectly connected to each other via a movable crossbar. When connected, the crossbar is preferably located near the free end faces of the frame elements, thus forming a reversible closure. When the bed frame is folded, the crossbar is preferably located close to or even within the base body.
[0012] In one embodiment, the crossbar is movably mounted between the two frame elements. This allows the crossbar to be moved preferably along the frame elements. In one embodiment, a rolling bearing is provided.
[0013] In one embodiment, a mattress with slatted frames is provided, which can be placed on the bed frame.
[0014] According to one embodiment, the joints are arranged on an upper side of the base body. The base body is preferably designed such that it can rest on a floor on the (lower) side opposite the upper side. In one embodiment, this is accompanied by the fact that the height of the base body determines the height of a section of the unfolded bed frame.
[0015] In a further embodiment, the opposite sides of the base body, on which the four frame elements are arranged in pairs, are the long sides of the base body. The base body preferably has an elongated extension, with the longer side perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the unfolded bed frame.
[0016] According to one embodiment, the base body has essentially a cuboid shape.
[0017] One embodiment provides for the four frame elements to be adjustable in length. In this embodiment, the frame elements can initially be rotated away from the base body via the joints and then adjusted to the desired length. Such a length adjustment enables, for example, a tube-in-tube design of the frame elements.
[0018] According to an alternative or additional embodiment, at least one leg element is adjustable in length. In one embodiment, several leg elements are adjustable in length. This length adjustment allows the height of the head and / or foot end of the bed to be adjusted. In one embodiment, the joints between the base body and the frame elements allow the head and / or foot end of the unfolded bed frame to have an incline relative to the base body.
[0019] One embodiment provides that at least one leg element has a foot element at its end facing away from the frame element. The foot element is, for example, plug-shaped or has a certain degree of elasticity.
[0020] One embodiment provides that the at least one support element can be reversibly fixed to at least one frame element via a combination of at least one recess and a pin. The pin is preferably perpendicular to a relative direction of movement between the support element and the frame element. When the bed frame is unfolded, the pin protrudes through the recess, thus establishing a reversible connection. This ensures that the components of the unfolded bed frame are securely connected to one another.
[0021] In an alternative or supplementary embodiment, at least one frame element comprises a clamp-like receiving space, and the support element can be inserted into the receiving space via a reduced-height side region. In this embodiment, the at least one support element is inserted into a type of guide rail of the frame element at a side region whose height is reduced compared to at least one other section of the support element. Accordingly, the receiving space is preferably open in the direction of the support element.
[0022] In one embodiment, two frame elements lying next to each other—when unfolded—each have a receiving space, with the receiving spaces being open to each other. The at least one support element has a height reduction on both opposite side areas, through which it is inserted into the receiving spaces of the frame elements when the bed frame is unfolded.
[0023] In one embodiment, several support elements are provided, and at least some of the support elements are reversibly connected to one another. By connecting the support elements at least partially reversibly to one another, the stability in the longitudinal direction of the unfolded bed frame is increased. The connection is made, for example, via a tongue-and-groove connection.
[0024] In an alternative or supplementary embodiment, several support elements are also provided, with at least some of the support elements abutting one another at their ends. In this embodiment, there is no connection between some of the support elements; rather, the support elements only abut one another. In one embodiment, the support elements in question are located at the level of the base body.
[0025] One embodiment provides that at least one support element is made at least partially of wood. The wood preferably has a certain degree of elasticity, thus creating or reinforcing the effect of a mattress.
[0026] In a supplementary or alternative embodiment, the base body is made of metal.
[0027] In a further supplementary or alternative embodiment, the frame elements are made of metal. In detail, there are numerous possibilities for designing and developing the bed frame according to the invention. Reference is made to the following description of exemplary embodiments in conjunction with the drawings. They show:
[0028] Fig. 1 a spatial representation of the unfolded bed frame,
[0029] Fig. 2 an enlarged detail of a first connection possibility between frame element and support element,
[0030] Fig. 3 shows a representation of a second connection option and
[0031] Fig. 4 a spatial representation of an alternative design of the unfolded bed frame.
[0032] Fig. 1 shows schematically the structure of a bed frame according to the invention in the unfolded state.
[0033] In the center of the bed is the cuboid base body 1. Four frame elements 2 are attached to its long sides 10 on the top 11. They are connected via joints 4, allowing the frame elements 2 to be pivoted. When folded, the frame elements 2 are positioned directly against the long sides of the base body 1.
[0034] The four frame elements 2 form two pairs: First, these are the two pairs, each connected to the same long side 10 of the base body 1, thus forming the head and foot ends of the bed. When unfolded, these frame elements 2 are arranged essentially parallel to each other. Second, these are the two pairs whose members are arranged in alignment one behind the other, thus forming the long sides of the bed. These frame elements 2 are each connected to the same narrow side of the base body 1.
[0035] The frame elements 2 are rod-shaped here and are, for example, variable in length. They have a fixed end face 20 and a free end face 21. The fixed end face 20 is each attached to the base body 1 via a joint 4, so that the respective frame element 2 is freely movable relative to the base body 1.
[0036] The free end faces 21 are - in the embodiment shown - each connected to a leg element 5 via a joint 52. In an alternative embodiment - not shown - at least one leg element 5 is rigidly connected to the associated free end face 21. The free end face 21 is thus supported on this leg element 5. To ensure good support on the floor, the leg elements 5 in the embodiment shown each have a foot element 51 at the end 50 facing away from the free end face 21. The leg elements 5 are also rod-shaped here and also allow a change in length and thus a change in height with respect to the position of the respective free end face 21. The length variability is realized, for example, via a rod-in-rod arrangement with an adjustable fixing device.
[0037] Overall, this results in an H-shape from the base body 1 and the four frame elements 2, which is open at the head and foot ends.
[0038] Between the frame elements 2 are support elements 3, which here have a board shape. For clarity, only one support element 3 is indicated here. The support elements 3 indirectly connect those frame elements 2 that are each connected to the same long side 10 of the base body 1 and that are arranged parallel to each other here. The support elements 3 are arranged one behind the other along the longitudinal axis of the unfolded bed.
[0039] The dimensions of the support elements 3 are preferably such that they find sufficient space within the interior space 12 enclosed by the base body 1. Therefore, when the bed frame is folded, the support elements 3 are inserted into the base body 1, while the frame elements 2 and the leg elements 5 are positioned close to the base body 1. Thus, the space requirement is minimal.
[0040] Figure 2 shows a variant of the fixation of the support elements 3 relative to the frame elements 2. The support element 3, partially shown here, has a recess 30, and the frame element 2 has a pin 22 that protrudes upwards. In the assembled state (as indicated here), the pin 22 is located in the recess 30 of the support element 3, thus securing it against displacement.
[0041] Fig. 3 shows how a support element 3 with a reduced-height side region 31 is guided in an inwardly open receiving space 23, which is enclosed by the frame element 2. This simplifies the insertion of the support element 3 between the pair of frame elements 2—shown only partially here. Also visible is a leg element 5, the lower end 50 of which terminates in a foot element 51.
[0042] Fig. 4 shows an alternative design of the bed frame.
[0043] The four frame elements 2 can be seen, each connected to the base body 1 via a joint 4 and movable independently of one another. Each frame element 2 rests with its free end face 21 on a leg element 5. In the illustrated embodiment, the four leg elements 5 are each reversibly connected to the frame elements 2, meaning they can be removed again.
[0044] Between each pair of frame elements 2 there is a crossbeam 6, which is mounted on a rolling bearing between the two frame elements 2. For the unfolded state shown, the crossbeam 6 is pushed forward to form the reversible closure. In the folded state, the crossbeam 6 is located so close to the base body 1, e.g., in a recessed recess, that the frame elements 2 can be individually pivoted toward the base body 1 again.
