Description

State of the art

[0001] Paint rollers for applying paints and coatings are already known, wherein the paint roller comprises a cylindrical hollow body which is surrounded by a plush material.

[0002] Furthermore, paints with antibacterial properties are known. These are currently applied with conventional paint rollers, which lack antibacterial properties and can no longer be used after a single use, as cleaning the rollers leads to contamination. Object and advantages of the invention

[0003] The object of the invention is to provide an improved paint roller for the bacteria-free application of antibacterial paint materials, in particular with regard to reusability.

[0004] The problem is solved by the features of the independent claims.

[0005] Advantageous and expedient embodiments, variants and further developments of the invention are set out in the dependent claims.

[0006] The invention relates to a paint roller for applying paints and coating agents, wherein the paint roller comprises a cylindrical hollow body which is surrounded by a plush material.

[0007] For example, the cylindrical hollow body is designed as a hollow cylinder. The diameter of the hollow cylinder is, for example, 10 mm to 100 mm, 20 mm to 100 mm, 30 mm to 100 mm, 40 mm to 100 mm, 50 mm to 100 mm, 60 mm to 100 mm, 70 mm to 100 mm, 80 mm to 100 mm, 10 mm to 90 mm, 10 mm to 80 mm, 10 mm to 70 mm, 10 mm to 60 mm, 10 mm to 50 mm, 10 mm to 40 mm, 10 mm to 30 mm.

[0008] For example, the length of the paint roller corresponds to the height of the cylinder plus the plush cover, which is 25 cm to 100 cm. For example, the length of the paint roller corresponds to 25 cm to 90 cm, 25 cm to 80 cm, 25 cm to 70 cm, 25 cm to 60 cm, 25 cm to 50 cm, 25 cm to 40 cm, 35 cm to 100 cm, 45 cm to 100 cm, 55 cm to 100 cm, 65 cm to 100 cm, 75 cm to 100 cm, 85 cm to 100 cm.

[0009] For example, the cylindrical hollow body has a reinforcement, e.g., in the center of the hollow cylinder. For example, a circular plate or other internal structure or other plug-in closure system is arranged in the center of the hollow cylinder, which stabilizes the cylindrical hollow body and offers the possibility of securing a corresponding bracket.

[0010] For example, the cylindrical hollow body with the plush fabric is rotatably mounted, with the axis of rotation running along the height of the cylinder or the length of the ink roller. For example, the axis of rotation runs through the centers of the circular base of the cylinder and / or the circular plate and / or the interior or the plug-in closure system. For example, the outer surface of the hollow cylinder is surrounded by the plush fabric.

[0011] It is conceivable that the plush fabric is firmly bonded to the cylindrical hollow body. For example, the plush fabric is glued, thermofused, and / or inverted to the cylindrical hollow body.

[0012] For example, the plush fabric comprises cotton and / or wool and / or synthetic fibers and / or a plastic, such as polyester, polyacrylic, and / or polyamide. The plush fabric can be made of only one material or a blend of several materials, such as a blend of polyamide and polyester or polyamide and wool.

[0013] For example, plush fabric is a pile fabric, which is produced using a three-thread system. In this case, an additional thread is woven in alongside the warp and weft threads. The additional thread forms thread loops, which are sheared to a specific height as needed. This creates, for example, the soft short and long textile fibers, the so-called pile.

[0014] To apply the paint or coating, the paint roller is dipped into a bucket containing the paint or coating, for example, with the plush fabric absorbing the paint or coating. By moving the rotating paint roller along the surface to be painted, the paint or coating is distributed over the surface to be painted. To paint the surface to be painted, the paint roller is dipped into a bucket containing the paint or coating several times.

[0015] It is further proposed that the plush fabric be impregnated with a biocide.

[0016] The plush fabric is produced, for example, using a known process. For example, the finished plush fabric is immersed in a biocide-containing solution and then dried, leaving the biocide in the plush fabric. Preferably, the plush fabric is bonded to the cylindrical hollow body after biocide impregnation.

[0017] Biocides that can be used include silver chloride, zinc pyrithione, polychlorinated phenoxyphenol and titanium oxide.

[0018] It is suggested that the plush fabric is impregnated in such a way that the paint roller has antibacterial properties even after several washes.

[0019] The paint roller is advantageously used for applying antibacterial paint. Antibacterial paint is used, for example, in hospitals and laboratories for painting walls. When applying antibacterial paint, the paint roller must also be antibacterial, according to regulations, e.g., in the EU. If a normal paint roller is used, it is no longer usable after a single wash, as it is then considered contaminated and the antibacterial application of the paint materials is no longer guaranteed. The advantage of the invention is that the paint roller can be washed multiple times and reused for applying antibacterial paint.

[0020] For example, the ink roller has an antibacterial effect of over 99% after 55 washes.

[0021] For example, depending on the pile height, the plush fabric is immersed in a bath containing a biocide solution or sprayed with the biocide using a misting system. After the plush fabric is bonded to the cylindrical hollow body, such as the ink roller, it is thermally treated to ensure the longevity of the biocide in the plush fabric.

[0022] It is also conceivable that the biocide includes silver chloride.

[0023] For example, the silver chloride is dissolved in a solvent, and the plush fabric is soaked in the silver chloride-containing solution. For example, after drying, the silver remains in the plush fabric in ionic form. For example, the silver remains in ionic form even after repeated washing of the ink roller.

[0024] It is also conceivable that the plush fabric has a pile height of 3 mm to 30 mm.

[0025] For example, the plush fabric has a pile height of 5 mm to 30 mm, 10 mm to 30 mm, 15 mm to 30 mm, 20 mm to 30 mm, 25 mm to 30 mm, 3 mm to 15 mm, 3 mm to 20 mm, 3 mm to 15 mm or 3 mm to 10 mm.

[0026] For example, the plush fabric has a back and a plush side, with the back being connected to the cylindrical hollow body. It is conceivable that the back is connected, in particular firmly connected, to the outer surface of the cylindrical hollow body. The plush side, for example, has the protruding pile. For example, the paint roller is dipped into the antibacterial paint with the plush side.

[0027] For example, the cylindrical hollow body is made of a thermoplastic.

[0028] For example, the cylindrical hollow body comprises at least one thermoplastic, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, or polyvinyl chloride. The cylindrical hollow body can be made of one or more thermoplastics. For example, the outer surface of the cylindrical hollow body is made of a thermoplastic. For example, the outer surface of the cylindrical hollow body is heated to bond the back of the plush fabric to the cylindrical hollow body.

[0029] It is also conceivable that the cylindrical hollow body is held on a cylindrical support with closure elements.

[0030] For example, the cylindrical support is accommodated in the cavity or internal volume of the cylindrical hollow body. The cylindrical support is, for example, tubular in shape. It is conceivable that the cylindrical support is designed as a hollow cylinder.

[0031] For example, the longitudinal extension of the cylindrical support runs parallel to the longitudinal extension of the cylindrical hollow body. It is also conceivable for the cylindrical support to be shorter than the cylindrical hollow body. For example, the rotational axis of the ink roller runs along the center points of the circular base of the cylindrical support. The cylindrical support is made of a plastic, for example.

[0032] For example, a closure element or a plug-in closure is arranged at each end of the cylindrical support. The closure elements or plug-in closures hold the cylindrical support in place.

[0033] For example, the closure elements have a circular surface with a hole formed in the center. For example, an elongated bearing element protrudes centrally from the circular surface. The bearing element holds the cylindrical support, for example. The closure elements cover, for example, the openings to the cavity or the interior of the cylindrical hollow body, whereby, for example, the cylindrical support is not visible from the outside. It is also conceivable for a clamping element or clamping sleeve to be arranged in the cavity of the cylindrical support, which stabilizes the bracket in the cylindrical support.

[0034] An advantageous embodiment of the invention is a paint roller with a paint roller according to one of the previously described embodiments.

[0035] It is also conceivable that the paint roller has a handle with a bracket, which is accommodated in the cylindrical support of the paint roller.

[0036] The cylindrical support of the ink roller, for example, has an internal volume along its longitudinal extent into which the bracket can be accommodated. The closure elements preferably have a hole through which the bracket can be inserted. For example, the rotational axis of the ink roller runs along the longitudinal extent of the bracket in the cylindrical support.

[0037] The bracket is preferably made of metal or carbon and has, for example, bends. For example, the bracket has three bends. For example, the bends in the bracket form an angle between 80° and 130°. One bend follows, for example, at one end of the paint roller toward the handle. Another bend follows, for example, after the bracket has cleared the plush fabric, toward the other end of the paint roller. A subsequent bend in the bracket leads to the handle.

[0038] The handle is made of plastic, metal, or wood, for example. For example, the handle is connected to the bracket. For example, the handle is positioned centrally along the length of the paint roller.

[0039] An advantageous embodiment of the invention is a method for producing an ink roller according to one of the previously described embodiments, with the following successive method steps: Immersing the plush fabric in a biocide-containing solution Drying the plush fabric Heating the cylindrical hollow body Applying the impregnated plush fabric to the heated cylindrical hollow body

[0040] For example, the plush fabric is immersed in a container or bath containing the biocide-containing solution. The plush fabric is then dried, for example, at room temperature or by heating.

[0041] For example, the plush fabric is bonded to the cylindrical hollow body using a thermofusion process. For this purpose, the cylindrical hollow body, which is preferably made of a thermoplastic, is heated, for example, on the outer surface or shell surface to be bonded. The back of the biocide-containing plush fabric, for example, is applied to the heated surface of the cylindrical hollow body, so that the plush side protrudes outwards.

[0042] The cylindrical support is then inserted into the cavity of the cylindrical hollow body and the closure elements are inserted at the ends of the cylindrical support.

[0043] In a further step, a user can insert the handle with the bracket through the locking element into the cylindrical holder, or the paint roller is already sold with the bracket and handle.

[0044] Thus, the paint roller or antibacterial paint roller can be used to apply an antibacterial coating or antibacterial paint to a surface, whereby the paint roller can advantageously be washed out and reused several times. Character description

[0045] Further features and advantages of the invention are explained in more detail below using schematically shown embodiments.

[0046] In detail: Fig. 1 a cross-sectional view of a paint roller with paint roller, Fig. 2 a schematic representation of a process for producing an antibacterial paint roller according to Fig. 1 .

[0047] In the Figure 1 A paint roller 1 is shown, which comprises a paint roller 2, a bracket 3, and a handle 4. The bracket 3, for example, is attached to the handle 4.

[0048] For example, the handle 4 is firmly connected to the bracket 3. It is also conceivable that the bracket 3 can be inserted into the handle 4. The bracket 3 has, for example, three bends 5. For example, one bend 5 is located directly behind the handle 4, another bend 5 is located directly next to the ink roller 2 in the assembled state, and a bend 5 is located between the other two bends 5. The bracket 3 can be inserted into the ink roller 2, for example.

[0049] For example, the ink roller 2 comprises a cylindrical hollow body 6, a plush material 7, a cylindrical support 8, and closure elements 9. The cylindrical hollow body 6 is designed, for example, as a hollow cylinder, wherein, for example, an outer surface of the cylindrical hollow body 6 is surrounded by the plush material 7. The inner surface encloses, for example, an interior space, wherein the cylindrical support 8 is arranged in the interior of the cylindrical hollow body 6. The longitudinal extent of the cylindrical support 8 runs, for example, parallel to the longitudinal extent of the cylindrical hollow body 6.

[0050] The closure elements 9 are arranged, for example, at the end openings of the cylindrical hollow body 8, wherein the closure elements 9, for example, cover the interior of the cylindrical hollow body 6. The cylindrical support 8, for example, connects the two closure elements 9 to one another. It is also conceivable that a clamping element or a clamping sleeve 16 is arranged in the cavity of the cylindrical support 8, via which clamping element the bracket 3 is rotatably mounted in the cylindrical support 8. The cylindrical support 8 is designed, for example, as a hollow cylinder, wherein the bracket 3 is received in the interior volume of the cylindrical support 8. For example, an axis of rotation D runs along the longitudinal extent of the cylindrical support 8. For example, the axis of rotation D runs centrally through the base surfaces of the cylindrical support 8 designed as a hollow cylinder.

[0051] Furthermore, the closure elements 9 each have, for example, a hole on the circular surfaces through which the bracket 3 can be inserted. Furthermore, it is possible for only one closure element 9 to have a hole.

[0052] In the Fig. 1 an embodiment of a method 10 is shown, wherein an ink roller 2 with antibacterial properties can be produced in, for example, five method steps 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

[0053] For example, in a first process step 11, the plush fabric 7 is immersed in a container or bath containing a biocide-containing solution. Furthermore, a spray system can also be used to apply the biocide-containing solution to the plush fabric. Subsequently, in a further process step 12, the plush fabric 7 is dried, for example, at room temperature or by heating. For example, after drying, silver remains in ionic form in the plush fabric 7.

[0054] In a further process step 13, for example, the cylindrical hollow body 6 is heated, in particular the outer surface. For example, the cylindrical hollow body 6 is made of a thermoplastic. For example, the plush material 7 is bonded to the cylindrical hollow body 6 by a thermofusion process. For example, in a further process step 14, a backside or fabric side of the biocide-containing plush material 7 is applied to the heated surface of the cylindrical hollow body 6, so that the plush side protrudes outward.

[0055] Subsequently, for example, in a further process step 15, the cylindrical support 8 is introduced into the cavity of the cylindrical hollow body 6 and the closure elements 9 are inserted onto the ends of the cylindrical support 8. List of reference symbols
