Description

[0001] Passenger cars with a roof trim

[0002] The present invention relates to a passenger car with a roof trim strip according to claim 1.

[0003] It is well known that the gaps between the outer skin and the fixed roof of a passenger car are covered with roof trim strips. The latter feature trim strips that are attached using body-mounted retaining clips. In practice, however, this results in effects that do not always meet the desired visual impression.

[0004] It is an object of the present invention to overcome this disadvantage.

[0005] This object is achieved by a passenger car having the features of claim 1.

[0006] Specifically, this task is solved by a passenger car which has a vehicle roof fixed to its body and designed as a fixed roof, a body outer skin spaced from the vehicle roof by a roof gap and a roof trim strip which at least partially covers the roof gap and whose trim strip profile is fastened to the body by means of at least one retaining clip. The passenger car is characterized in that the retaining clip has at least one locking lug on its side surface facing away from the vehicle roof and at least one recess on its side surface facing away from the body, the vehicle roof has at least one roof projection on its side facing the retaining clip, and the trim strip profile has at least one locking projection which is operatively connected to the at least one locking lug, at least one guide projection which is operatively connected to the at least one recess, and at least one end projection which is operatively connected to the roof projection.

[0007] The at least one locking lug is particularly preferably located solely on the side surface facing away from the vehicle roof, while no further locking lugs are provided at other locations on the retaining clip. The trim strip profile is preferably designed as an extruded body. The guide body provided on the trim strip profile acts as a guide element and supports the trim strip profile in its longitudinal direction. The end projection provided according to the invention, on the one hand, supports the roof trim strip profile against the roof overhang. On the other hand, it prevents visibility into the roof gap.

[0008] The previously disclosed means advantageously enable tolerance compensation between the roof trim strip and the fixed roof in a direction remote from the body, thus creating an aesthetically pleasing, monolithic appearance for the roof area of the passenger car according to the invention. In addition, the aforementioned means advantageously enable comparatively simple and reliable installation of the roof trim strip on the passenger car.

[0009] According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, at least one first spring element, against which the trim strip profile rests, is located on the side surface of the retaining clip facing away from the body. This advantageously allows a desired preload to be set between the trim strip profile and the retaining clip, thus further improving the desired tolerance compensation. This also applies to the case of a further preferred embodiment, according to which at least one second spring element is located on a side surface of the retaining clip facing the vehicle roof, against which a spring projection protruding from the trim strip profile rests.

[0010] According to an additional preferred embodiment, a sealing lip located on the trim strip profile rests against the outer body shell. This advantageously impedes or even completely prevents the penetration of water or dirt into the body.

[0011] Below, a detailed, non-prejudicial, and particularly limiting, description of an embodiment of the present invention is given with reference to the single, not-to-scale figure. This figure shows a symbolically represented passenger car 1 according to the invention, the roof area 5 of which is partially shown in a side view in section.

[0012] The passenger car 1 comprises a body 10, partially shown here, to which a vehicle roof 15 designed as a fixed roof is fixed by means of an adhesive bead 20. The vehicle roof 15 shown in this exemplary embodiment has two spaced-apart glass panes 25, which are connected to one another at the edges by a foam 30. A part of the foam 30, shown on the left in the figure, protrudes from the foam 30 as a roof projection 37. It should be noted that - even if not shown here - a vehicle roof 15 can be provided which does not have a foam 30. In this case, a part of a glass pane 25 protrudes as a roof projection 37.

[0013] Furthermore, the body 10 includes an outer body skin 35, which is spaced apart from the vehicle roof 15. Thus, a roof gap 40 is located between the outer body skin 35 and the vehicle roof 15. The roof gap 40 is covered by a roof trim strip 45, which includes a trim strip profile 55 attached to the body 10 by means of a retaining clip 50.

[0014] The retaining clip 50 itself has a locking lug 65 on its side surface 60 facing away from the vehicle roof 15 and a recess 75 oriented or extending orthogonally to the plane of the figure on its side surface 70 facing away from the body 15. On the same side, but slightly spaced from the recess 75 in the direction of the roof overhang 37, a first spring element 80 is provided, against which the trim strip profile 55 rests. Finally, the retaining clip 50 has a second spring element 90 on its side surface 85 facing the roof overhang 37, which protrudes in the direction of the roof overhang 37.

[0015] The trim strip profile 55, in turn, has a locking projection 95, which is operatively connected to the locking lug 65, a guide projection 100, which is operatively connected to the recess 75, and a closing projection 105, which is operatively connected to the roof projection 37. In the area of the closing projection 105, the trim strip profile 55 finally has a spring projection 110, which rests under preload on the second spring element 90. Finally, on its side surface 60, the trim strip profile 55 has a sealing lip 115, which bears against the outer body skin 35.

[0016] As can be seen from the figure, the trim strip profile 55 is subjected to an upward spring force on its lower side by the first spring element 80, both directly and indirectly via the operative connection of the second spring element 90 to the spring projection 110. In other words, the trim strip profile 55 is resiliently biased in a direction opposite to the body 10 by the material properties of the first spring element 80, the material properties of the second spring element 90, and the inherent elastic properties of the spring projection 110. The locking projection 95, which in the figure rests against the locking lug 65 from below, and the end projection 105, which also rests against the roof projection 37 from below, lock the decorative strip profile 55 against the previously described spring force, so that it is secured against unintentional release in conjunction with the guide projection 100 fastened in the recess 70.At the same time, it is elastically mounted such that its surface facing away from the body 10 is flush with the surface of the vehicle roof 15 facing away from the body 10. This, and in conjunction with a gap 120 formed between the trim strip profile 55 and the roof overhang 37, creates a tolerance compensation between the trim strip profile 55 and the vehicle roof 15, which results in a very pleasing visual appearance of the passenger car 1 in its roof area 5.
