Description

[0001] The invention relates to a pipette.

[0002] Pipettes are well known in practice and typically comprise a tube-like receiving body, which can be made of glass or plastic. At one end, the receiving body is provided with a discharge opening. At the end facing away from the discharge opening, the receiving body is provided with an actuating device consisting of a balloon-like, rubber-elastic element. When actuated, this element can be used to draw a liquid into the receiving body through the discharge opening, and to apply the liquid then held in the receiving body in a suitable manner. Such pipettes are used in the medical field and also in chemical laboratories.

[0003] The invention is based on the object of creating a pipette which is characterized by simple use and is suitable for the application of specific liquids.

[0004] This object is achieved according to the invention by the pipette having the features of claim 1.

[0005] According to the invention, a pipette is proposed that comprises a fully enclosed ampoule, which has a storage chamber in which a liquid is held and which is delimited by an at least substantially cylindrical peripheral wall of the ampoule. The ampoule has at least one breakable end region, the breaking of which releases an outlet opening for the liquid. Furthermore, the pipette has a pipetting device formed from an elastically deformable element and attached to the ampoule in such a way that it circumferentially delimits the cylindrical peripheral wall, leaving the fully enclosed ampoule filled with the liquid partially exposed.

[0006] The pipette according to the invention provides a prefilled pipette in which the liquid to be applied to a substrate, for example, a chemical substance, a cosmetic substance, or a medicinal substance, is already stored and in which a portion of the ampoule is always uncovered by the material of the elastically deformable element. The liquid can be applied directly using the pipetting device after breaking off the breakable end portion of the ampoule. Further intermediate steps, such as transferring the liquid to an empty pipette, can be eliminated. The application of the liquid is thus considerably simplified compared to previous solutions.

[0007] The elastically deformable element is preferably made of a plastic or paper material, or even of a composite material comprising plastic and / or paper or cardboard. It is also conceivable for the material of the elastically deformable element to comprise cotton wool. A pipetting device made of paper or cardboard offers advantages, particularly in terms of sustainability.

[0008] In a special embodiment of the pipette according to the invention, the pipetting device comprises a sleeve through which the breakable end portion of the ampoule extends. In this case, the pipetting device is open on the side of the discharge opening created by breaking off the end portion. After breaking off the breakable portion, the liquid held in the reservoir of the ampoule can flow into the volume formed by the sleeve and be applied to the relevant surface by lateral pressure via the discharge opening formed by the sleeve.

[0009] The cuff, which can extend partially or completely over the cylindrical peripheral wall of the ampoule, is preferably made of an elastic plastic material, such as silicone. In the delivery state, the discharge opening is expanded by the breakable end portion of the ampoule. After the end portion is broken off, the material of the cuff contracts such that the discharge opening has a significantly reduced diameter compared to its delivery state, and the fluid that has flowed from the ampoule into the volume of the cuff can be applied drop by drop by applying appropriate lateral pressure.

[0010] To clearly define the position of the sleeve in the pipette's as-delivered state, it is advantageous if the ampoule has a constriction in a transition area between the breakable end portion, which represents the ampoule blade, and the cylindrical peripheral wall, against which an edge portion of the pipetting device rests circumferentially. In the area of the constriction, the ampoule preferably has an annular predetermined breaking point or zone along which the breakable end portion can be broken off from the area of the ampoule that defines the storage space.

[0011] To further facilitate the use of the pipette according to the invention, it is advantageous if the edge region, which circumferentially rests against the constriction of the ampoule, is part of an inwardly folded section of the sleeve, which is encompassed externally by a central region of the sleeve. In the delivered state, the sleeve is thus double-layered in the relevant area, forming a collar of the pipette according to the invention extending from the constriction of the ampoule.

[0012] In order to be able to direct the liquid into the volume defined by the sleeve or pipetting device after the ampoule has been opened, i.e., after the end portion has been broken off, a special embodiment provides a strip of material between the folded section and the central portion of the sleeve, which forms a fluid conductor when the end portion of the ampoule is broken off. The strip of material is preferably inserted circumferentially into the space between the folded section and the central portion and is formed, for example, from a plastic film or a paper strip.

[0013] In a further advantageous embodiment of the prefilled pipette according to the invention, the sleeve, when the end portion is broken off, forms a balloon-like pipetting section, which has the dispensing opening on the side facing away from the ampoule. The pipetting section is formed by breaking off the end portion and removing it by pulling the edge of the sleeve adjacent to the end portion away from the ampoule's reservoir. When the broken end portion is then pulled out of the sleeve, the sleeve, which is made in particular of silicone or the like, contracts so that only a small-diameter dispensing opening remains, through which the liquid can be applied in a targeted manner.

[0014] In a further special embodiment of the pipette according to the invention, the ampoule has two breakable end regions, in particular along a respective annular predetermined breaking point or zone, wherein one of the breakable end regions is received by the pipetting device. The pipetting device encloses in particular a volume filled only with air and is designed to be compressible, so that the corresponding end region can be broken off by manual actuation via the pipetting device. If both end regions of the ampoule are broken off, the pipetting device can be compressed by lateral and / or axial pressure, whereby the liquid held in the ampoule can be displaced from the ampoule and applied. The outlet opening is created on the side of one of the end regions at the respective predetermined breaking point by breaking off this end region.

[0015] In a special embodiment of the pipette according to the invention, the end portion of the ampoule not covered by the pipetting device is exposed. This means that the liquid is applied directly through the outlet opening, which is created by breaking off the exposed end portion of the ampoule.

[0016] In an alternative embodiment of the pipette according to the invention, an applicator device can be attached to the ampoule in such a way that the end region not received by the pipetting device is overlapped.

[0017] Furthermore, it is conceivable for the pipetting device to be located on the side of the ampoule's outlet opening. In this case, after breaking off the two breakable ends, the liquid flows from the ampoule into the pipetting device, which defines a volume. By applying lateral pressure, the liquid can then be dispensed through a discharge opening located on the pipetting device.

[0018] In a further special embodiment of the pipette according to the invention, the applicator device and the pipetting device are each fixed directly to the ampoule in a press fit independently of one another, wherein the ampoule is circumferentially free in an area arranged between the applicator device and the pipetting device.

[0019] Further advantages and advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of the invention can be found in the description, the drawings, and the patent claims. The scope of the invention includes all combinations of at least two features disclosed in the description, the claims, and / or the figures; that is, each feature disclosed in the description can be part of the claimed subject matter independently of the further features and / or specifications disclosed in the respective context.

[0021] In the Figures 1 to 5An applicator 10 is shown which, in the sense of the invention, forms a prefilled pipette and which comprises an ampoule 12 which, when closed, holds a liquid to be applied in a storage chamber 14. The ampoule 12 comprises an ampoule body 16 which has a cylindrical peripheral wall 18 and a base 20. On the side facing away from the base 20, a breakable end region 22 adjoins the ampoule body 16, which forms a so-called ampoule sword and is separated from the ampoule body 16 by a constriction 24. In the region of the constriction 24, the ampoule 12 has a predetermined breaking point 26 designed as a ring line, along which the breakable end region 22 can be broken off from the ampoule body 16 in a defined manner.

[0022] The applicator 10 comprises a pipetting device 28, which is designed as a sleeve or sleeve of the ampoule 12 and circumferentially defines the cylindrical peripheral wall 18 up to the area of the bottom 20. In the area of the bottom 20, the pipetting device 28 forms a base region formed by an annular collar 30.

[0023] As in particular the Figures 1 and 3As can be seen, in the delivered state of the applicator 10, the breakable end region 22 extends through the pipetting device 28 designed as a sleeve, wherein an edge region 32 of the pipetting device 28 made of a silicone material or another suitable elastically deformable plastic material rests against the ampoule 12 in the region of the constriction 24. The edge region 32 is part of a section 34 of the pipetting device 28 that is folded over in the direction of the ampoule 12 and that, with respect to the ampoule 12, is encompassed on the outside by a central region 36 of the pipetting device 28. The pipetting device 28 is therefore double-walled in the area enclosing the end region 22 in the delivered state. This double-walled section forms, starting from the constriction 24 of the ampoule 12, a collar or apron that encompasses the end region 22 of the ampoule 12.

[0024] When the applicator 10 is to be activated, the breakable end portion 22 is broken off from the ampoule body 16 along the predetermined breaking point 26 and pulled out of the sleeve-like pipetting device 28 in the direction away from the ampoule body 16. In this case, the inwardly folded section 24 of the pipetting device is also pulled along in the direction away from the ampoule body 16, so that a Figures 2 and 4 A detailed pipetting section 36 is formed, which is balloon-shaped and has a discharge opening 38. The liquid held in the storage space 14 of the ampoule 12 can flow into the pipetting section 36 via an outlet opening 40 of the ampoule 12 formed after the end region 22 has been broken off. By applying lateral manual pressure to the pipetting section 36, the liquid can then be applied, in particular dropwise, via the discharge opening 38.

[0025] In the Figures 6 to 8an applicator 50 is shown, which essentially corresponds to the one according to the Figures 1 to 5 but differs from it in that it additionally comprises a material strip 52, which can be formed from a plastic film and in which Figure 6 In the delivery state shown, it is arranged in a funnel-like manner or following a conical surface between the inwardly folded section 34 and the central section 35 of the pipetting device 28. When the end region 22 of the ampoule 12 is broken off and removed and the pipetting device 28 is deformed as described with reference to the above exemplary embodiment, the material strip 52 is also deformed in such a way that it adjoins the outlet opening 40 in a cylindrical manner and forms a fluid conductor via which the liquid is guided from the storage space 14 of the ampoule 12 into the pipetting section 36 of the pipetting device 28.

[0026] Otherwise, the applicator 50 corresponds to that according to the Figures 1 to 5 , which is why, to avoid repetition, reference is made to the relevant embodiment.

[0027] In the Figures 9 to 12 an applicator 60 is shown, which is largely similar to the one according to the Figures 1 to 5 but differs from it in that it has a pipetting device 28 which does not extend to the bottom 20 of the ampoule 12, but only over a partial area of the peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule body 16. Otherwise, the applicator 60 corresponds to that according to the Figures 1 to 5 , which is why, to avoid repetition, reference is made to the relevant description.

[0028] In the Figures 13 to 15 An applicator 70 is shown, which in turn is largely similar to the one according to the Figures 1 to 5 but differs from it in that it is designed according to the Figures 6 to 8a material strip 52 for forming a fluid conductor and according to the embodiment according to the Figures 9 to 12 is provided with a pipetting device 28, which extends only over a part of the cylindrical peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule 12. Otherwise, the applicator 70 corresponds to the Figures 13 to 15 the embodiments described above, which is why reference is made to the relevant description.

[0029] In the Figures 16 and 17An applicator 80 is shown, which is a prefilled pipette and has an ampoule 82 designed as a so-called bitip, which has a cylindrical peripheral wall 18 which delimits a storage space 14 in which a liquid to be applied is held. The ampoule 82 has two breakable end regions 84 and 86, each designed as an ampoule tip, which can each be broken off along an annular predetermined breaking point 26 from the ampoule body 16 formed from the peripheral wall 18. By breaking off the end region 84, which is located at the front with respect to the direction of application, an outlet opening with a small diameter is formed on the ampoule 18. By breaking off the end region 86 arranged at the rear, a rear opening of the ampoule 82 is formed, via which air pressure can be exerted on the liquid held in the storage space 14.

[0030] The applicator 80 further comprises a pipetting device 28, which comprises a substantially cylindrical fixing region 88 that surrounds the peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule 82 and is thus connected to the ampoule 82 in a press fit. Starting from the fixing region 88, the pipetting device 28 extends rearward in the direction away from the end region 84, specifically via a constriction 89 into a balloon-like pipetting section 36, which is designed like a corrugated bellows or folding bellows and is compressible in the axial direction of the applicator 80. The predetermined breaking point 26 of the end section 86 is arranged in the region of the constriction 89, so that liquid that inadvertently enters the balloon-like pipetting section 36 after the end region 86 is broken off can flow back into the ampoule 82.Instead of a constriction, the pipetting device 28 can also have an internal geometry against which the ampoule 82 rests in the region of the predetermined breaking point 26 of the end region 86 and which ensures that the liquid flows back into the ampoule 82 when the end region 86 is broken off.

[0031] To activate the applicator 80, the two end portions 84 and 86 of the ampoule 82 are broken off, whereby the rear end portion 86 can be gripped via the pipetting device 28, which is made of a flexible plastic material or flexible paper-containing material. Subsequently, by exerting axial pressure on the pipetting section 36 of the pipetting device 28, the liquid can be applied from the reservoir 14 via the front outlet opening of the ampoule 82, which is created by breaking off the front end portion 84 along its predetermined breaking point.

[0032] In the Figures 18 and 19an applicator 90 is shown, which is essentially the same as that according to the Figures 16 and 17 , but differs from it in that instead of a bellows-like pipetting section, it has a balloon-like pipetting section 36, which is compressible in particular by lateral pressure. Due to the lateral pressure, the liquid stored in the reservoir 14 of the ampoule 82 can be applied when the end regions 84 and 86 of the ampoule 82 are broken off. Otherwise, the applicator 90 corresponds to the one according to the Figures 16 and 17 , which is why, to avoid repetition, reference is made to the relevant description.

[0033] In the Figures 20 and 21 an applicator 100 is shown, which also largely corresponds to the one according to the Figures 16 and 17corresponds to, but differs from it in the design of the pipetting device 28. The pipetting device 28 has a short fixing region 88, which bears in a press fit against the cylindrical peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule 82. Adjacent to the fixing region 88 is a balloon-like, widened pipetting section 36, which merges into a tongue-like, tapered activation section 102, into which the rear breakable end region 86 of the ampoule 82 engages. To activate the applicator 100, the rear end region 86 is broken off by manually gripping the activation section 102 of the pipetting device 28. After breaking off the front end portion 84, the liquid held in the ampoule 12 can be applied via the outlet opening created on the side of the end portion 84 by lateral manual pressure on the balloon-like pipetting portion 36.

[0034] Since the applicator 100 is, moreover, the one according to the Figures 16 and 17 corresponds, please refer to the relevant description.

[0035] In the Figures 22 and 23 an applicator 110 is shown, which in turn largely corresponds to the Figures 16 and 17corresponds to, but differs from this in that, in addition to the identically designed ampoule 82, it comprises a pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which is tube-shaped and surrounds the cylindrical peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule 82 with a front fixing region 88 and forms a pipetting section 36 with a rear, closed region, in which the rear end region 86 of the ampoule 82 is also arranged. Due to the elastically deformable design made of plastic, the pipetting section 36 can be deformed on the one hand to break off the end region 86 and on the other hand to pipette or apply the liquid held in the ampoule 82 when the end regions 84 and 86 are broken off.Furthermore, the pipetting device 28 has a cap 114 formed over a cord-like connecting region 112, by means of which the ampoule 82 can be closed again after activation on the side of the end region 84 after its breakage.

[0036] In the Figures 24 and 25 an applicator 120 is shown, which in turn holds an ampoule 82 of the Figures 16 and 17The applicator further comprises a pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which is attached to the front end of the ampoule 82 and comprises the breakable end region 84, the breaking off of which forms an outlet opening in the ampoule 82. The pipetting device 28 simultaneously forms an applicator device and comprises a fixing region 88, which is press-fitted onto the cylindrical peripheral wall 18 of the ampoule 82. At the end facing away from the fixing region 88, the tube-like pipetting device 28 comprises a discharge opening 38, through which the liquid held in the ampoule 82 can be applied. For activation, the two end regions 84 and 86 of the ampoule 82 are each broken off along the respective predetermined breaking point.

[0037] This allows the liquid to flow from the reservoir 14 of the ampoule 82 into a pipetting section 36 of the pipetting device 28. By applying lateral pressure to the pipetting section 36, the liquid can then be applied via the discharge opening 38.

[0038] In the Figures 26 and 27 an applicator 130 is shown, which essentially corresponds to the one according to the Figures 24 and 25 but differs from it in that it has a pipetting device 28 which does not form a funnel-like tube, but a cylindrical tube, which is provided with an end wall 122 which is inclined relative to the axis of the applicator 130 and on which a discharge opening 38 is formed. Otherwise, the applicator 130 corresponds to that according to the Figures 24 and 25 , which is why reference is made to the relevant description.

[0039] In the Figures 28 and 29 An applicator 14 is shown, which in turn is largely similar to the one according to the Figures 24 and 25corresponds, but differs from it in that it again has a pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which is designed as a cylindrical tube that is plugged onto the ampoule 82 and is made of an elastically deformable plastic. The pipetting device 28 again comprises an end wall 122, on which a Luer cone 142 and a fixing section 144 provided with an internal thread are formed, so that an application aid, such as a cannula or the like, can be fixed to the pipetting device 28. Otherwise, the applicator 140 corresponds to that according to the Figures 24 and 25 , which is why, to avoid repetition, reference is made to the relevant embodiment.

[0040] In the Figures 30 and 31 An applicator 150 is shown which is largely similar to that according to Figures 24 and 25, but differs from it in that it additionally has a cap 114, which is formed via a cord-like connecting area 112 onto the pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material. By means of the cap 114, the ampoule 82 can be closed again at the rear after activation, i.e. on the side of the broken-off end area 86. Otherwise, the applicator 150 corresponds to the one according to the Figures 24 and 25 , which is why reference is made to the relevant description.

[0041] In the Figures 32 and 33 an applicator 170 is shown, which comprises an applicator device 162 at the front and a pipetting device 28 at the rear, which corresponds to the bellows-like pipetting device according to the Figures 16 and 17 The applicator device 162 is designed from the front according to the embodiment according to the Figures 20 and 21The ampoule 82 is placed over the front, breakable end region 84 of the ampoule 82. The pipetting device 28, made from a plastic and / or paper material, and the applicator device 162, made from a plastic and / or paper material, are each fixed directly to the ampoule 82 independently of one another in a press fit. The applicator 160 is activated in such a way that the end regions 84 and 86 are broken off manually via the pipetting device 82 and the applicator device 162. The liquid can then be applied from the ampoule 82 via the discharge opening 38 of the applicator device 162 by applying lateral pressure to the pipetting device 28.

[0042] A ring-like region of the ampoule 82, which is arranged between the pipetting device 28 and the applicator device 162, is exposed, i.e. the applicator device 162 and the pipetting device 28 are not in contact with each other.

[0043] In the Figures 34 and 35 An applicator 180 is shown, which is largely similar to the one according to the Figures 33 and 34 but differs from it by the design of the pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which does not have a bellows-like pipetting section, but a balloon-like pipetting section 36. Otherwise, the applicator 180 corresponds to that according to the Figures 34 and 35 , which is why reference is made to the relevant description.

[0044] In the Figures 36 and 37 An applicator 190 is shown, which in turn largely corresponds to the one according to the Figures 32 and 33but differs from it in that it has a tube-like pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which has a gripping recess 192 on one side.

[0045] In the Figures 38 and 39 An applicator 200 is shown, which is largely similar to the one according to Figures 36 and 37 but differs from it in that it comprises an applicator device 162, the design of which corresponds to that of the pipetting device of the embodiment according to the Figures 30 and 31 corresponds, which is why reference is made to the relevant description. In addition, the applicator 200 has a pipetting device 28 made of a plastic and / or paper material, which is tube-like in accordance with the pipetting device of the embodiment according to the Figures 22 and 23 is formed, but unlike this does not have a cap, since the cap 114 is formed on the applicator device 162.

[0046] In the Figures 40 and 41 an applicator 210 is shown, which comprises as applicator device 162 a tube-like attachment of the ampoule 82, which corresponds to the Figures 28 and 29 The applicator 210 corresponds to the applicator shown, that is to say is provided with a Luer cone 142 and a fixing section 144 equipped with an internal thread. As pipetting device 28, the applicator 210 comprises the pipetting device of the embodiment according to the Figures 16 and 17 , which is designed like a corrugated bellows and to whose description reference is made.
