[0003] The invention further relates to a vehicle component for a motor vehicle, comprising a lighting system. Technical background

[0004] Such lighting systems, which are used in particular in motor vehicles, are known in the prior art. In such lighting systems, it is necessary to protect electronic and / or optical components of the lighting system from external influences, for example, environmental influences. This is typically achieved by sealing elements. In known solutions, a housing containing the electronic and optical components is usually sealed at several points. The housing is frequently sealed with separate sealants on a rear side, to which the electronic components are attached, and on a front side, to which the optical components are attached, which increases the design complexity and costs.

[0005] The object of the present invention is to alleviate or eliminate the disadvantages of the prior art. The invention therefore aims, in particular, to create a lighting system in which reliable sealing of the electronic and optical components of the lighting system is achieved using simple means.

[0006] This object is achieved by a lighting system having the features of claim 1 and, alternatively, by a lighting system having the features of claim 12. Preferred embodiments are specified in the dependent claims. Brief description of the invention

[0007] According to the invention, the holding element is designed as a sealing element which tapers along the longitudinal extent towards the insertion opening in such a way that the inner surface of the holding element facing the holding section of the light guide body makes sealing contact with the lateral surface of the holding section, wherein the sealing contact prevents particles and / or fluids from penetrating through the insertion opening from the front side of the holding device towards the rear side of the holding device, in particular towards the illuminant.

[0008] This offers the advantage that the holding element, by enclosing the holding section, holds the light guide body in a predetermined position relative to the light source and simultaneously seals the connecting section between the light source and the light guide, or the area where the light source is opposite the light guide, against contamination. Thus, the lighting system can also be used outside of a motor vehicle headlight housing, for example, to illuminate motor vehicle components, since the lighting system is not dependent on the sealing elements of the motor vehicle headlight housing.

[0009] It can be provided that the end section of the light guide body is closer to the lamp than the holding section of the light guide body.

[0010] It can be provided that the first receiving section and the second receiving section comprise a first material and the holding element comprises a second material, wherein the second material has a higher elasticity than the first material, wherein the light guide body has a first diameter and the insertion opening has a second diameter which is smaller than the first diameter, wherein the diameter difference and the elasticity of the second material are selected such that the end section of the light guide body can be inserted into the insertion opening and the insertion opening widens due to the elasticity during insertion, and that after insertion the inner surface of the holding element forms a sealing contact with the holding section of the light guide body.

[0011] It can be provided that a locking element, for example a locking lug or a locking recess, is formed on the end section of the light guide body, and a locking counter-element designed complementary to the locking element is formed on the second receiving section, wherein the locking element and the locking counter-element are designed to form a locking connection, wherein the locking connection engages when the end position of the light guide body is reached within the holding element, whereby a movement of the light guide body out of the holding element, in particular along the main emission direction, is blocked, wherein in the end position the light coupling surface has a predetermined distance from the illuminant.

[0012] It can be provided that the holding element cooperates with the second receiving section in such a way that a movement of the light guide body is blocked in a plane which is oriented orthogonally to the longitudinal extent of the light guide body.

[0013] It can be provided that the holding element has a penetration section, wherein the holding device has at least one penetration opening which extends from the front side to the back side, wherein the penetration section penetrates the penetration opening from the front side to the back side.

[0014] It can be provided that the illuminant has a illuminant carrier on which at least one light source of the illuminant is arranged, wherein a further sealing element is formed on the rear side of the holding device, which sealing element is designed to form a sealing contact between the first receiving section and the illuminant carrier.

[0015] It can be provided that the holding element, the penetration section and the further sealing element formed on the rear side of the holding device are formed in one piece, wherein the blocking means is preferably formed on the lamp carrier.

[0020] It can be provided that the sealing sleeve is designed as a substantially cylindrical heat-shrink tube. Preferably, the heat-shrink tube is thermally treated (in particular heated) after it has been slipped over the holding element and the light-guiding body, thereby reducing the diameter of the heat-shrink tube and forming a tight-fitting or sealing contact with the holding element and the light-guiding body.

[0023] The invention is further explained below using preferred embodiments, to which, however, it is not intended to be limited. The drawings show: Fig. 1 a sectional view of an inventive lighting system according to a first embodiment; Fig. 2 a perspective front view of the lighting system according to Fig. 1 ; Fig. 3 a perspective rear view of the lighting system according to Fig. 1 ; Fig. 4 a sectional view of an inventive lighting system according to a second embodiment. Detailed description of the embodiments

[0024] Fig. 1shows a first exemplary embodiment of a lighting system 1, comprising a light source 4, for generating and emitting light along a main emission direction x. The lighting system 1 further comprises a light guide body 2, which is assigned to the light source 4. The light guide body 2 has an end section 2a with a light coupling surface 5a, wherein light from the light source 4 can be coupled into the light guide body 2 via the light coupling surface 5a. Starting from the light coupling surface 5a, a lateral surface 5b of the light guide body 2 delimiting the light guide body 2 extends along a longitudinal extent L of the light guide body 2. In the exemplary embodiment shown, the longitudinal extent L is oriented parallel to the main emission direction x. The light guide body 2, in particular its lateral surface 5b, has a light output section 5c, via which coupled-in light is output from the light guide body 2.The light output section 5c is arranged on a section of the light guide facing away from the illuminant 4.

[0025] The lighting system 1 further comprises a holding device 3, which is configured to hold the illuminant 4 and the light guide body 2 relative to one another and to seal the end section 2a and the illuminant 4, preferably against environmental influences, external influences, and / or contamination. The holding device 3 has a rear side 3R (see FIG. Fig. 3 ) and a front side 3V facing away from the back 3R (cf. Fig. 2 ).

[0026] A first receiving section 3a, in which the illuminant 4 is received, is formed on the rear side 3R. A second receiving section 3b, in which the light-guiding body 2 is received, is formed on the front side 3V. The first receiving section 3a and the second receiving section 3b are designed such that light emitted by the illuminant 4 received in the first receiving section 3a is radiated onto the light-coupling surface 5a of the light-guiding body 2 received in the second receiving section 3b. The illuminant 4 has a illuminant carrier 4a, on which at least one light source of the illuminant 4 is arranged. A further sealing element 9 is formed on the rear side 3R of the holding device 3 and is designed to form a sealing contact between the first receiving section 3a and the illuminant carrier 4a.

[0027] A holding element 6 is received on the second receiving section 3b, which has a shape corresponding to the end section 2a of the light guide body 2. The holding element 6 has a longitudinal extension 6L, which extends from the front side 3V of the holding device 3 and ends or opens into an insertion opening 6a of the holding element 6. The longitudinal extension 6L of the holding element 6 is shorter than the longitudinal extension L of the light guide body 2.

[0028] To receive the light-guiding body 2 at the second receiving section 3b, the end section 2a can be inserted into the insertion opening 6a of the holding element (6) along an insertion direction, which is oriented in particular along the main emission direction x. The holding device 3 has a blocking means which blocks insertion of the light-guiding element 2 along the insertion direction beyond an end position. In the inserted state, the holding element 6 encloses a section of the light-guiding body 2 circumferentially, at least in sections, preferably completely. That section of the lateral surface 5b of the light-guiding body 2 which is enclosed by the holding element 6 defines a holding section 2b of the light-guiding body 2. An inner surface 6b of the holding element 6 lies opposite the lateral surface 5b of the light-guiding body 2.In the inserted state, the light-coupling section 5c is arranged on a side of the insertion opening 6a facing away from the illuminant 4, in particular outside the holding element 6. In particular, a section of the light-guiding body 2 protrudes from the holding element 6, wherein the protruding section comprises the light-coupling section 5c. Preferably, the protruding section comprises at least 75%, or more than 85%, or more than 90% of the total length of the light-guiding body. Furthermore, the end section 2a of the light-guiding body 2 is closer to the illuminant 4 than the holding section 2b.

[0029] According to the first exemplary embodiment, the holding element 6 is designed as a sealing element which tapers along the longitudinal extent 6L towards the insertion opening 6a in such a way that the inner surface 6b of the holding element 6 facing the holding section 2b of the light-guiding body 2 makes sealing contact with the outer surface 5b of the holding section 2b. This sealing contact prevents particles and / or fluids from penetrating through the insertion opening 6a from the front side 3V of the holding device 3 to the rear side 3R of the holding device 3, in particular towards the illuminant 4. The holding element 6 interacts with the second receiving section 3b in such a way that movement of the light-guiding body 2 in a plane oriented orthogonally to the longitudinal extent L of the light-guiding body 2 is blocked. The holding element 6 comprises a sleeve, in particular an elastic one, which encloses the end section 2a and the holding section 2b of the light guide body 2.

[0030] The first receiving section 3a and the second receiving section 3b comprise a first material, and the holding element 6 comprises a second material. The second material has a higher elasticity than the first material. The light guide body 2 has a first diameter, and the insertion opening 6a has a second diameter that is smaller than the first diameter. The diameter difference and the elasticity of the second material are selected such that the end section 2a of the light guide body 2 can (just) be inserted into the insertion opening 6a, and the insertion opening 6a widens due to the elasticity during insertion. After insertion, in particular after reaching the end position, the inner surface 6b of the holding element 6, due to its elasticity, forms a sealing contact with the holding section 2b of the light guide body 2.

[0031] A locking element 7a, for example a locking lug or a locking recess, can be formed on the end section 2a of the light-guiding body 2, and a locking counter-element 7b designed to complement the locking element 7a can be formed on the second receiving section 3b. The locking element 7a and the locking counter-element 7b are designed to form a locking connection which, upon reaching the end position of the light-guiding body 2, engages within the holding element 6, thereby blocking any movement of the light-guiding body 2 out of the holding element 6, in particular along the main emission direction x. In the end position, the light coupling surface 5a has a predetermined distance from the illuminant 4.

[0032] In the first exemplary embodiment shown, the holding element 6 has a penetration section 8a, and the holding device 3 has a corresponding penetration opening 8b. This opening extends from the front side 3V to the rear side 3R. The penetration section 8a penetrates the penetration opening 8b from the front side 3V to the rear side 3R, whereby the holding element 6 is received in the holding device 3. In particular, an outer surface of the holding element 6 makes positive contact with an opposite surface of the holding device.

[0033] The holding element 6 and the holding device 3 can preferably be manufactured using a 2K injection molding process, in which the holding device 3 (consisting of a harder material) is injection-molded around the holding element 6 (consisting of a softer material). Such processes are known to those skilled in the art, which is why details will not be discussed in detail in this disclosure. The holding element 6, the penetration section 8a, and the further sealing element 9 formed on the rear side 3R of the holding device 3 are preferably formed in one piece. The blocking means can be formed on the lamp carrier 4a.

[0034] The holding device 3 comprises a first material, for example, plastic, in particular a thermoplastic or a thermoset, and the holding element 6 comprises a second material different from the first material, for example, an elastomer. The second material is more elastic than the first material. The holding element 6 penetrates the holding device 3, wherein, in particular, the holding element 6 and the holding device 3 form a two-component component.

[0035] The light-guiding body 2 can comprise a preferably transparent light guide, for example an optical fiber or a light guide with a circular cross-section. Light can propagate within the light-guiding body 2 along its longitudinal extent L by means of total reflection on an inner side of the lateral surface 5b.

[0036] Fig. 4shows a second embodiment of a lighting system 1, wherein in this alternative solution, the holding device 3 has a sealing sleeve 10, which has a shape corresponding to the light-guiding body 2 and the holding element 6. The sealing sleeve 10 surrounds the holding element 6 and the light-guiding body 2 protruding therefrom (or that portion of the protruding light-guiding body 2 which is close to the outside of the insertion opening 6a) in a form-fitting manner.

[0037] The sheath seals the holding section 2b and the insertion opening 6a. In this exemplary embodiment, the holding device 3 and the holding element 6 are preferably formed in one piece. Furthermore, the holding device 3 and the holding element 6 are made of a material of the same hardness or the same material. The sealing sleeve 10, on the other hand, is elastic and, in particular, thermally deformable. In particular, the sealing sleeve 10 is designed as a substantially cylindrical shrink tube.

[0038] For the purposes of this description, the terms "top", "bottom", "horizontal" and "vertical" are to be understood as indicating the orientation when the lighting system is arranged in the normal position of use after it has been installed in a motor vehicle. LIST OF REFERENCE SYMBOLS
