Abstract

The invention relates to a method for protecting an operator O on a work platform 3 of an aerial lift against crushing, in which aerial lift a control console 10 allows the operator to initiate a movement of the work platform 3. The method provides that the movement of the work platform 3 is either stopped or executed at a speed below a normal speed of the movement depending on whether the movement is in progress at the time when a detection system B1, B2 detects the occurrence of a high-risk situation for the operator, or whether the high-risk situation for the operator is detected at the time the movement is initiated using the control console 10. This differentiated processing decreases the number of times the movement of the work platform is unwantedly stopped. This method is carried out automatically by a system on board the aerial lift.
