Field of the invention

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of modular constructions, and more particularly to techniques for designing and integrating modular door units which are mountable and demountable in such constructions.Background

[0002] Modular constructions are becoming increasingly popular for applications such as exhibition stands, advertising structures and stages in the entertainment industry. These constructions are designed to be constructed and dismantled in rapid and simple manner, this being of crucial importance in dynamic environments where time and efficiency are important. In addition, modular constructions provide the advantage that they can be transported compactly and are light-weight, this significantly simplifying the logistical process.

[0003] A significant feature of modular constructions is their versatility and flexibility. They make use of sets of parts which are able to construct different shapes and sizes of construction. [0006] Embodiments of the invention have for their object to provide a solution which simplifies integration, mounting and demounting and transport of doors in modular constructions by reducing the number of unique components required and making the process less time-consuming.

[0007] According to a first aspect, a modular door unit is provided which is configured to be connectable to a modular construction, such as a stand at a trade fair, wherein the door unit comprises a door panel and a frame, wherein the door panel is connected rotatably to the frame so that the door panel is rotatable between at least one open position and a closed position, wherein access through the door unit is allowed in the at least one open position and access through the door unit is impeded in the closed position, wherein the door unit further comprises at least one fastening means which is connected to the frame and is configured to connect the frame releasably to the modular construction so that the door unit is mountable and demountable in the modular construction, wherein the door unit further comprises a handle with at least one engaging element, wherein the handle is displaceable between a first position and a second position, wherein a user can rotate the door panel between the at least one open and closed position, and in the second position the handle is positioned such that the door unit is stackable on or against at least one further door unit.

The door unit according to any one of the foregoing clauses, wherein the at least one fastening means (130) is mounted movably in the frame (120) so that the at least one fastening means (130) is movable between a retracted position and an extended position, wherein in the retracted position the at least one fastening means is retracted substantially wholly into the frame (120), preferably retracted wholly into the frame, and wherein in the extended position the at least one fastening means extends through the frame in order to fasten the frame to an adjacent modular construction. 18. The door unit according to the foregoing clause, further comprising a sleeve (131) which is mounted on a first peripheral wall of the frame and wherein the at least one fastening means is mounted movably in the sleeve. 19. The door unit according to the foregoing clause, further comprising a springy element (132) which is configured to push the at least one fastening means to the retracted position. 20. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing clauses 17-19, wherein the at least one fastening means (130) is integrated in the frame. 21. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing clauses, further comprising a doorstop (150) with a stop, wherein the doorstop is connected rotatably to one of the frame and the door panel so that the stop can be positioned in at least one first stop position and a passage position, wherein in the at least one first stop position the stop impedes the door panel from rotating beyond the frame, and in the passage position the stop allows the door panel to rotate freely along the frame. 22. The door unit according to the foregoing clause, wherein the doorstop can further be positioned in at least one second stop position, wherein in the first stop position the stop lies adjacently of a first peripheral wall (121) of the frame and in the second stop position the stop lies adjacently of a second peripheral wall (122) of the frame (120) lying opposite the first peripheral wall. 23. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing clauses 21-22, wherein in the passage position the stop is positioned such that the door panel is rotatable above or below the stop. 24. Claims

1. A modular door unit (100) which is configured to be connectable to a modular construction, such as a stand at a trade fair, wherein the door unit comprises a door panel (110) and a frame (120), wherein the door panel is connected rotatably to the frame so that the door panel is rotatable between at least one open position and a closed position, wherein access through the door unit is allowed in the at least one open position and access through the door unit is impeded in the closed position, wherein the door unit further comprises at least one fastening means (130) which is connected to the frame and is configured to connect the frame releasably to the modular construction so that the door unit is mountable and demountable in the modular construction, wherein the door unit further comprises a handle (140) with at least one engaging element (141), wherein the handle (140) is displaceable between a first position and a second position, wherein a user can rotate the door panel between the at least one open and closed position, and in the second position the handle is positioned such that the door unit is stackable on or against at least one further door unit, wherein in the first position the at least one engaging element (141) extends substantially perpendicularly relative to the door panel; and wherein in the second position the at least one engaging element (141) lies substantially parallel to the door panel.

2. The door unit according to the foregoing claim, wherein in the first position the at least one engaging element (141) extends away from the door panel.

3. The door unit according to claim 1, wherein in the second position a maximum distance measured between the at least one engaging element (141) and the door panel is limited, the distance preferably being smaller than 1 cm.

4. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims, wherein the maximum distance is measured between a wall surface of the at least one engaging element lying furthest away from the door panel and a wall surface of the door panel lying adjacently of the at least one engaging element.

5. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims, wherein the handle (140) further comprises a base (142) which is connected to the at least one engaging element, which base (142) is oriented at a non-zero angle relative to the at least one engaging element and is configured to strike against an end edge of the door panel.

6. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims, wherein the handle (140) comprises a displacing means (143) which is configured to displace the handle between the first position and the second position.

7. The door unit according to the foregoing claim, wherein the displacing means (143) is connected rotatably to the door panel so that it is rotatable between the first position and the second position.

8. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims 6-7, wherein the handle is mounted on a distal outer end of the displacing means (143) and wherein the displacing means is configured to position the handle at a first distance and a second distance relative to an end edge of the door panel so that, at the first distance, the handle strikes substantially against the end edge of the door panel and, at the second distance, the handle is displaceable between the first position and the second position.

9. The door unit according to claim 5 and any one of the claims 6-8, wherein the base (142) of the handle is connected to the displacing means.

The door unit according to claim 5, wherein the base extends in a longitudinal and a lateral direction, wherein a third distance (146) between two opposite longitudinal peripheral edges (145a, 145b) of the base corresponds at most with a depth dimension of the door panel measured along the end edge thereof, wherein the second distance is preferably smaller than the depth dimension of the door panel.

11. The door unit according to claim 5 and any one of the claims 6-10, wherein the at least one engaging element (141, 141a, 141b) is connected to the base at the position of a peripheral edge (145a, 145b) of the base.

12. The door unit according to the foregoing claim, wherein the at least one engaging element is formed integrally with the base.

13. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims 9-12, wherein the at least one engaging element is connected to the base at the position of two intersecting peripheral edges (144b, 145a; 145b, 144a), wherein the at least one engaging element preferably comprises a connection to the base which extends only partially along one (145a) peripheral edge of the two intersecting peripheral edges (144b, 145a; 145b, 144a).

14. The door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims and claim 5, wherein a fourth distance (148) between a lateral edge (144a) of the base and an edge (148) of the at least one engaging element (141a) is at least as great as, and preferably greater than, a depth dimension of the door panel measured along the end edge thereof.

15. A modular construction comprising a modular door unit according to any one of the foregoing claims, and an exhibition stand frame.
