Description

OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The invention, as its name suggests, is based on a disinfection and heating system for bed bases and mattresses, which operates by means of the forced injection or blowing of air together with the injection of a liquid composition, suitable for each disinfection circumstance, into the interior of domestic, hospital, hotel, hostel and care home mattresses, among others. This system functions with either cold or hot air. The purpose of this forced air injection or blowing is to distribute the disinfectant or fragrance internally, reaching areas where it is otherwise impossible but necessary for the internal cleaning and comprehensive disinfection of bed bases and mattresses due to the presence of mites, bacteria, viruses, etc., which accumulate over time through use, lack of hygiene, illness, environmental humidity, or emissions released by people through regular use. Furthermore, this forced hot air blowing radiates heat inside the mattress, either directly or through the bed base, using pressurised air. A series of ducts or tubes integrated within the bed base and mattress distribute it internally, thus eliminating residual moisture and making its use more pleasant on cold and damp winter days. It regulates the comfort temperature and, when necessary, enables comprehensive internal disinfection by injecting disinfectants and reversing the airflow to extract residues, dirt or internal contaminants, achieving complete aeration for hygiene.SCOPE OF APPLICATION OF THE INVENTION

[0002] The present invention is primarily intended for use in family homes for domestic purposes, where the mattress and device (61) are integrated into the bed base to form a single unit. Alternatively, the device (61), as will be described, can be attached solely to the mattress, on one side, in a removable and independent manner so as not to alter the appearance of the mattress and to achieve, in the most convenient way, disinfection against mites, bacteria, viruses, etc., as well as heating in low temperatures and dehumidification of the mattress due to high air humidity or occasional spills.

[0003] Its use is also suitable for hotels, where deep and very regular cleaning is required, which is similarly the case for hospitals and residential centres, hostels, etc., as the system facilitates general disinfection without having to move or transport the mattresses outside the premises for autoclave cleaning. In such cases, the device is installed on a mobile trolley with wheels, making the task easier for healthcare staff, who can perform periodic disinfections effortlessly and in an automated and controlled manner, thanks to the installed control sensors that will be described.

[0004] For domestic use, and in the event that the mattress operates as an independent unit from the base, as will be described, the device can be conveniently used on cold winter days to heat the mattress by using this external device as a heater directly attached to the mattress. In cases of hypothermia, its use is effective for patients who may have suffered from it due to cold or exposure to low temperatures or seawater, when working on vessels or for any other reason or circumstance in which it is necessary to restore the temperature of a person with hypothermia in a controlled manner. To this end, the temperature of the device (61) can be adjusted gradually, and it is recommended that deep-sea fishing vessels operating in cold seas be equipped with at least one unit.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0005] There are various types and models of bed bases and mattresses available on the market for domestic use, in hotels and hospitals, but none are known to possess technical characteristics, features or advantages similar to those described in the present invention. It is unknown whether there is a disinfection and heating system similar to this one, or an integrated heating system, as none could be found on Google, except for the well-known electric blanket. The main difference with the latter is that the heat produced by the system described here is convective, rising from the internal part of the mattress upwards, completely eliminating moisture both inside the mattress and in the elements that make up the assembled bed.

[0006] The electric blanket, in addition to its dangers, produces heat by contact, which does not remove moisture but instead causes condensation due to thermal changes between the cold lower part and the warm upper part. This makes it more difficult to eliminate the moisture accumulated in the mattress, as it retains the accumulated cold air and creates internal condensation if there is moisture present in the mattress.DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0007] The pressurised disinfection and heating system for the bed base (1) and mattress (23) incorporates a device (61) that draws in air through a grille located on the exterior of the bed base (1) by means of suction. The air is subsequently pressurised by a turbine, passing through a set of electric, ceramic or similar heating elements to heat it, before being propelled through a conduit that forms part of a reservoir integrated into the device (61), which is also designed to store disinfectant liquid or fragrances. This tank is filled from the top and features a sight glass to indicate the fill level, or alternatively, a sensor that provides the information externally via a dedicated indicator light.

[0008] The extraction of the disinfectant or fragrances is carried out by injecting pressurised air into the disinfectant reservoir, with the pressure being adjusted by means of either a butterfly valve or a solenoid valve to regulate the flow rate of disinfectant to be injected into the interior of the mattress (23). The disinfectant then circulates through tubes or conduits fitted inside the mattress (23), forming a network of flexible tubes with outlet holes for heat and disinfectant within, and through dedicated holes in the blankets. These conduits or tubes may also be integrated into the actual structural mass of the mattress (23), or even formed from the mattress's own structural material, in which case a network of internal holes is created for circulating hot air and disinfectant, as well as for their release through the blankets. The ejector consists of: a spray tube, an ejection tube, and an electrovalve for opening and closing the disinfection circuit, located at the bottom of the tank.

[0009] The extraction of the disinfectant or fragrances is carried out using the air pressure from the turbine through an ejector comprising a spray tube and a Venturi effect absorption valve, an absorption tube, and an electrovalve for opening and closing the disinfection circuit, the latter situated at the bottom of the tank, in order to distribute the disinfectant throughout the internal network of tubes, ducts and openings within the bed base (1) and the mattress (23). Other forms of ejection may be provided via an independent ejector pump.

[0010] Cold air, hot air or, where applicable, disinfectant is introduced in this manner through a series of dedicated tubes or conduits (4) made of aluminium or another heat-resistant material and suitably insulated. These are equipped with outlet valves (3) for cold or hot air for disinfection and to keep the bed base (1) hygienic, free from moisture and at a pleasant comfortable temperature.

[0011] The bed base (1) may incorporate drawers for clothing storage, in which case the tube or conduit (4) for disinfectant injection and heating will be arranged accordingly.

[0012] At the same time, the internal compartments of the bed base (1) are designed to provide access to the outlet valves (3), allowing the direction and overall pressure to be regulated as required.

[0013] When the bed base (1) and the mattress (23) are interconnected together with the device (61) and its internal network of conduits and tubes (4) provided in both the bed base (1) and the mattress (23), they are joined together by means of a coupling cone or cylinder (26), thus creating an internal circuit for heating and disinfection, which, together with the control panel (57), forms a compact unit.

[0014] Humidity and temperature sensors are located in the circuit of the mattress and the bed base for automatic switching on and off, if necessary, to ensure activation and deactivation based on values set on the display (60) of the control panel (57). When the device (61) is integrated into the bed base (1), a branch from the filling opening of the disinfectant or fragrance reservoir can be routed to one side of the bed base, with its corresponding cap, in order to facilitate filling without having to lift the top cover of the bed base (1) or move the mattress (23). On the control panel (57), one function will be to open the solenoid valve for opening and closing the ejector in the ejection tube of the disinfectant or fragrance liquid located at the bottom of the tank, in order to open or close the circuit for injection into the internal network of tubes or conduits and openings inside the mattress (23).

[0015] The bed base (1) will be completely enclosed, but its top can be closed with a slatted bed base and the mattress itself to achieve closure, if configured in this way to radiate heat directly to the mattress (23).

[0016] The connection between the bed base (1) and the mattress (23) is achieved through a dedicated hole in the lid of the bed base (1), which incorporates a threaded coupling for screwing in a cone or cylinder that joins the bed base (1) to both sides of the mattress (23). The mattress (23) is provided with corresponding coupling holes for the bed base, positioned in such a way that, when its sides are switched, the air can flow through different circuits- one for winter and another for summer.

[0017] On both sides of the mattress (23), specifically on its internal outer area, heat-dissipating blankets are incorporated to ensure an even distribution of heat across its entire surface. One is for heating in winter and the other for ventilation in summer, and both provide disinfection. These blankets include dedicated openings for the release of heat and for disinfection.

[0018] When the device (61) is integrated inside the bed base (1), it will draw air from the outside through an intake grille located on any lateral side, headboard or underside, and the device (61) will be fitted by screwing it into a thread integrated into a coupling (5). The device (61) will remain in a fixed vertical position, propelling air into the interior of the mattress (23) following the sequence: turbine, heating elements, reservoir, and circulation towards the dedicated internal tubes or conduits and orifices for heat distribution or disinfection. In such a case, a double sliding cover is positioned on the outside of the bed base (1) and beneath the intake grille, closing the circuit and preventing the occasional entry of any object that could clog the turbine.

[0019] When the device (61) is internal, a dust filter is also provided, installed between the air intake grille and the turbine, in order to collect surrounding dust and prevent it from entering the mattress. In turn, a reverse rotation cycle of the turbine will, when required, extract dust from the interior and, as appropriate, facilitate aeration of the mattress (23).

[0020] On an outer side of the bed base, there are switches (9) for turning the system on and off, and regulators for controlling the speed of the turbine; the applied heating resistors; an electronic regulator for the ejection and dosing of disinfectant or fragrances; a regulator for the internal temperature of the mattress, along with other necessary controls and an indicator light for the disinfectant level.

[0021] When the device (61) is used externally as an attachment, the bed base (1) will not have an air intake grille, but rather a threaded cap (8) on the coupler (5) with the same thread pitch as the threaded male coupling (13) of the external device, so that the same external coupling device (61) can be used on different bed bases (1) in the same location. In this case, the internal circuit is limited to the distribution tubes and conduits (4), the coupling (2) to the mattress (23), and the humidity (6) and temperature sensors (7), which can be connected directly to the device (61) for external use when it is used externally.

[0022] The device (61) for external use incorporates its own temperature sensors in order to automatically control the power circuit. As an integral attachment, the device (61) will include all the components that make up the integrated unit, including an air intake nozzle (11), a turbine, a set of heating elements, a storage tank for disinfectant or fragrances, a loose nut adjustment housing (12), and a loose threaded male connector (14) to secure it in a vertical position and thus prevent spills of the disinfectant liquid or fragrances.

[0023] A timer can be set via the control screen (57) to allow the user to regulate and adjust the operating time for all functions of the integrated device (61), and, in turn, an internal clock can be adjusted so that the device (61) activates at a specific time for heating, dehumidification and disinfection.

[0024] Through the control screen (57), it will also be possible to adjust the ejection time of the disinfectant or fragrances, as well as the humidity and temperature thresholds at which the device (61) will turn on or off.

[0025] If required, the bed base (1) may be configured so that all the components of the installation are supplied in an assembly kit, to integrate a device (61) for heating, disinfection and dehumidification into the bed base and mattress set (either standard or special).

[0026] The base (1) supporting the mattress (23) will be completely enclosed with materials such as melamine, marine board or any other suitable and robust material to support the weight of the mattress (23), as well as its use and the installation of the device (61), either internally screwed to a special fitting (5) or bolted to an internal side. The top of the bed base (1) will be closed with panels and with the mattress (23) itself.

[0027] When the device (61) is internal, the base (1) incorporates an air intake grille on the outside, either on one side or on its underside, in which case it has legs to separate it from the floor. The device (61) is screwed or bolted to an internal side of the bed base (1). If the air intake occurs from the underside, an open-bottomed drawer will be incorporated, which will serve as the base to support the device (61) on one of its lateral sides. All of this is arranged in the most convenient way possible for the distribution of the internal spaces and their alignment with the coupling point or points to the mattress.

[0028] If necessary, and solely for heating the mattress (23) and removing moisture from it, a nozzle (11) screwed into the coupler (5) of the bed base (1), with an adjustment rubber (10), will serve to attach a conventional handheld dryer (22) for use as a turbine, in order to dehumidify and heat the mattress (23) only when required and in cases where the mattress (23) is integrated with the bed base (1).

[0029] This nozzle (11) with its adjustment rubber (10) will also serve for the direct use of a dryer (22) on a mattress, by means of its corresponding lateral coupling for this nozzle (11), and equipped with its own internal network of dedicated tubes or ducts and openings for heating and dehumidification.

[0030] The device (61), whether integrated into the bed base (1) or external, will have a cable that is sufficiently long, automatically retractable, and suitable for connecting to the mains. Adjustments can also be made manually using a handheld electronic remote control with the corresponding functions for switching on and off, heat, reversing the direction of the turbine for internal air extraction, or any other desired functions.

[0031] The disinfectant tank can also be used for fragrances of different aromas when the mattress user so wishes.

[0032] The external device (61) can also be used directly on the mattress when it incorporates the adapted lateral coupling for this purpose, as previously described.

[0033] The base (1) and the mattress (23) will be interconnected by means of a coupling duct or tube (not shown) and a cone or cylinder (26) to create the internal circuit for heating, disinfection and dehumidification. Alternatively, they may be connected to each other solely through the cone or cylinder (26).

[0034] The coupling points between the bed base (1) and the mattress (23) must coincide when using either side of the mattress. Threaded caps will be used to close these coupling holes when only the mattress is used. The connection cone or cylinder between the bed base and the mattress is retractable and is removed once the dedicated screw cap has been taken off and the cone or cylinder (26) slid out to its stop. Once extracted, it is screwed into the dedicated fitting of the bed base (1). A uniform circular rubber seal (not shown in the drawings) will seal the joint, thus forming the assembly into an integral and compact unit. The use of device (61) as a heater is independent of the disinfection system, as simply closing the solenoid valve in the ejector tube prevents disinfectant liquid or fragrance from being injected into the interior of the mattress (23).

[0035] The turbine consists of a motor and a set of blades that inject pressurised air into the injection duct of the device (61), and can be adjusted to operate at various speeds as required. In the event of overheating, a temperature sensor inside the injection duct of the device (61) will automatically disconnect it from the mains.

[0036] When the heating device is a conventional dryer (22) and is used on a mattress with its own internal network of tubes or conduits for heating, disinfection and dehumidification, it may incorporate a simpler side coupling on any side of the mattress, so that a conventional dryer (22) can perform these functions using the thermal protections built into the dryer itself.

[0037] The device (61) can be installed on a mobile cart with wheels, telescopic legs and a hose for connection to a mattress with a side coupling, with the disinfectant reservoir itself integrated into the mobile cart and equipped with the corresponding control mechanisms. This enables the device (61) to be used conveniently and easily moved when, in various settings such as hospitals, hotels, etc., a pressurisation unit is required for disinfection and dehumidification of mattresses that are individually fitted with an internal network of tubes or conduits and openings for the injection of disinfectants. The mobile cart with wheels is height-adjustable, consists of telescopic legs, a hose with a coupler, and a quick-turn coupling system for attachment to the side coupling of the mattress.

[0038] The mattress (23) thus incorporates an internal circuit, either coupled, integrated or formed with the mattress material itself, thereby creating an internal network of tubes or conduits with dedicated openings for disinfection, with couplings on both the upper and lower faces; closure caps; a retractable cone or cylinder (26) for coupling to the bed base (1) in order to create a heating and disinfection circuit from the external air intake point; humidity and temperature sensors to connect to the information screen (60); and a comfort layer on both sides of the mattress (23) to distribute heat evenly. The mattress (23) houses within it a network of tubes or conduits (27) with openings, which are either attached and integrated into its structure, or form an integral part of its own structural mass in such a way that they can be arranged and shaped in S-shaped, spiral, or zigzag formations. A fabric will cover the entire mattress (23) for its finish, leaving the decorative covers of the heating and disinfection air inlets visible.

[0039] The mattress, as an independent unit, incorporates on any of its sides a coupling for the quick connection of the hose from the mobile cart with wheels, as well as its own internal network of tubes, conduits and openings for comprehensive heating and disinfection.

[0040] In the mattress as an independent unit, a conventional dryer can be used for heating and dehumidification. It features a lateral threaded coupling for attaching the nozzle (11), also threaded and with a rubber seal (10), and is designed to connect directly to any standard mattress with an internal distribution network of tubes, ducts and openings for disinfection and heating.

[0041] The external device (61) can be attached to both a mattress and a bed base (1) via a threaded connector and a threaded male fitting (13), providing the same functions as when integrated, such as switches and inline adjustments, an extension lead for plugging into the mains, and a pressure coupling system to adjust the tightening nut to the vertical position, so that a single device (61) can be used externally for heating and dehumidification in one location.EXPLANATION OF THE FIGURES

Figure 4 shows a schematic representation of the mattress (23) of the pressurised disinfection and heating system which, together with the bed base (1) and the device (61), forms a compact integral unit. Figure 5 shows a general diagram of the pressurised disinfection and heating device (61) for the mattress (23) and bed base (1), mounted to one side inside the bed base (1). PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

[0043] In view of the described figures, the pressurised disinfection and heating system for bed base and mattress incorporates a bed base (1), which may be a box or drawer made of marine-grade melamine or another fire-retardant treated material, which incorporates inside it a tube or duct (4) for the passage of pressurised air for forced ventilation, heating and disinfection. The duct or tube (4) begins on one side of the bed base (1) or at a chosen location in order to achieve better internal distribution of spaces and drawers, and may be positioned on the underside for horizontal operation. The conduit or tube (4) incorporates sufficient regulation or shut-off valves (not shown) and outlet valves (3) for heating and dehumidifying and, where appropriate, disinfecting the internal area of the bed base (1) and the mattress (23), which is attached to it by the means described. Inside said bed base (1), humidity sensors (6) will be installed with the function of sending signals to the control screen (60) and automatically connecting or disconnecting the device (61) according to the values previously set on the control screen (57). This internal tube or conduit (4) will be installed in the most appropriate way to fit the existing spaces or to allow a more suitable distribution among the drawers. The base (1) will have a threaded coupling (2) to screw in a connection cone or cylinder (26), which in turn fits into the coupling (24) of the mattress (23) so that the base and mattress form a functional unit. Both couplings (24) incorporate a cap (28), both on the mattress (23) and on the bed base (1), to allow them to be closed when the system is not in use. The internal tube or conduit (4) of the bed base will be sealed at its ends, preferably incorporating one or more discharge outlets (not shown) opening into the interior of the mattress (23), depending on whether the mattress (23) and the bed base (1) are connected or interconnected.

[0044] When the device (61) is located inside the bed base (1), the exterior of the bed base includes: An intake grille (48) that allows air to enter; a structural coupling with its holes (44), which serve to screw the body of the device (61) to the inner side (45) of the bed base (1); and a coupling (35) to the discharge connector (34) and from there to the network of tubes or ducts (4).

[0045] The air intake grille (48) will be used when the heating device is internal and integrated within the bed base (1), which, on the exterior of any side, will feature a screen (60) to display various information from the humidity (31) and temperature (33) sensors. The screen (60) incorporates a series of switches or rotary controls to determine the activation and deactivation of the system (58), the speed of the turbine (59), and the number of heating elements applied (32), as well as dedicated push buttons for adjusting the humidity (55) and temperature (56) limits. The device also incorporates a solenoid valve for opening or closing (51); a regulator for the disinfectant ejector; a power indicator light; a temperature sensor (33) that can be installed in the most convenient location for measurement within the bed base (1) when the device (61) is integrated inside it; a retractable power cable, which passes through a side perforation, and a side fitting for the retractable plug; and a mains switch (30) positioned within easy reach.

[0046] As shown in Figure 2, the device (61) can also be used in a non-integrated manner and, where appropriate, from the outside. In this case, the external device will consist, as with the integrated version in the bed base, of the same elements, as well as a heat output regulator (17), a turbine speed regulator (18), an on / off switch (19), a disinfectant liquid injection regulator (16), a solenoid valve or butterfly valve (42), a Venturi effect absorption valve with absorption tube (15), a spray tube (37), a threaded male coupling (13), an adjustment housing for the loose nut (12) to achieve vertical alignment of the device (61), a loose threaded male (14) for vertical adjustment, a cap (21) for filling the disinfectant liquid and, where applicable, a nozzle (11) with a grille to close the turbine intake (62), with the turbine being able to have one or more blades depending on the desired power; a dedicated cable and plug (20) for connection to the mains electricity, either from inside the bed base or directly from the device (61) when not integrated.

[0047] A remote control can perform all the main functions directly without having to make adjustments directly on the side screen. An inline switch (30) on the connection cable will serve to disconnect the entire device from the mains without needing to use the control panel (57) or remote control, and it will be positioned at hand level when the device (61) is integrated into the bed base.

[0048] When the device (61) is external and used directly on a mattress for the elimination of moisture, drying or disinfection, a threaded male connector (13) will be used to attach it to the dedicated threaded side fitting of the mattress after removing its closure cap. By screwing the nozzle (11) into its lateral coupling, a manual dryer (22) can also be attached directly. The nozzle (11) includes a flexible circular rubber (10) to fit different sizes of air outlet of a conventional dryer. This rubber (10) will serve as an adaptor for different sizes of conventional hairdryers.

[0049] When the device (61) is external and used in large complexes such as hospitals, care homes, hotels, schools, hostels, etc., it can be installed on a mobile trolley with wheels to facilitate its movement between rooms and floors. In such a case, the disinfectant tank will be integrated into the mobile trolley with wheels and will have a larger fluid capacity, as well as a separate filling cap. Additionally, the disinfectant injection pump can also be independent, adjustable, and controllable. The ejected disinfectant is thus channelled into the airflow from the turbine, injecting it into the outlet hose of the mobile device (61) on wheels, before entering the side of the mattress. In this case, the mattresses will have a side coupling with a cap for connecting the disinfectant injection hose, in order to carry out regular maintenance. The device (61), mounted on a mobile trolley for easy movement, will include a power connection cable, a height-adjustable manual switch, and a hose with a coupler to reach various heights between the trolley and the side coupling of the mattresses to be disinfected, along with the corresponding sealing rubber for secure fitting.

[0050] In Fig. Figure 3 shows a conventional hairdryer (22) for attachment to any mattress with a side coupling and its own internal network of dedicated tubes or conduits.

[0051] In Fig. In Figure 4, the interior of a mattress (23) is shown, with the most significant elements that make it up: The main tube or conduit (27); the coupling recess (24), cone or cylinder (26) for the connection between mattress and bed base, and a threaded fitting (25) for screwing on the cap (28), a threaded fitting (29), and the closure cap (28).

[0052] The mattress (23) incorporates an internal circuit, either attached or integrated into its own structural mass, with coupling openings on both the upper and lower sides, and respective closure caps with a cone or cylinder for threaded coupling to the bed base. This internal network of tubes or conduits and openings is designed for the distribution of heat and disinfectant. These tubes or conduits can be configured in an S-shape, spiral, zigzag, or any other suitable form or design to maximise the spread and extension of heat and disinfection: heat on the winter side and disinfection on both sides, as the mattress (23) contains two independent circuits, one for the winter side and another for both the winter and summer sides together.

[0053] Figure 5 shows a comprehensive side view diagram of the elements comprising the integrated device (61), which incorporates the pressurised heating and disinfection system for bed bases and mattresses. In a preferred embodiment, it includes previously described components such as: A control panel (60) with humidity adjustment controls (56) and temperature adjustment controls (55); buttons for adjusting heating power (32) and turbine speed (59); a humidity sensor (31); a line switch (30); a temperature sensor (33); an outlet duct (36) from the turbine (62); a heating unit (38); the connection (53) coming from the open / close solenoid valve (51) inside the reservoir (39); a turbine motor (50); a group of heating resistors (54) and, externally, the control panel (57).

[0054] In addition to those already described, the device incorporates: An outlet duct (36) to the internal circuit of the bed base (1) and a housing (12) for adjusting a loose nut; a disinfectant tank (39) with a filling cap (40); a tube (52) leading to a spray tube (37); an opening and closing solenoid valve (51), a duct (36); a turbine (62) with a motor (43); structural through holes (44) for screws to secure the device to the inner side (45) of the bed base (1); a dust filter (47); a grille (48) located on the outside; a dust filter (47), also on the outside; a grille (48) with holes for fixing it; a sliding side cover (49) to close the internal circuit and an inlet duct (46). For the connection to the internal tube or conduit (4) of the bed base, a coupling (35) and a connector (34) are provided.

[0055] The ejection of the disinfectant liquid is carried out either by the Venturi effect using a Venturi valve, through an absorption tube (15) and the spray tube (37), introducing the disinfectant into the air duct (36) coming from the turbine (62), so that it is subsequently dispersed through the network of tubes and conduits, facilitating its exit through dedicated openings inside the mattress and blankets, or by direct air pressure within the tank (39) when the solenoid valve or butterfly valve (42) located in the nozzle (41) in the air duct (36) is opened, and ejected through the ejector tube (52) and spray tube (37). In both cases, the solenoid valve (51) located at the bottom of the tank (39) must be open for disinfection, as one function on the control panel (57) is to open or close the solenoid valve in order to open or close the circuit.

[0056] It is not considered necessary to make this descriptive report any more extensive for an expert in the field to understand the scope of the invention and the advantages resulting from its use. The sizes, shapes, mechanisms and materials constituting the invention may be varied to adapt them to the advantages that may arise from their specific application, provided that such changes do not affect the essence of the invention.
