An article of footwear, comprising: an upper defining a cavity adapted to receive a foot of a user, wherein the upper is attached to an outsole; and a belt disposed within the cavity, said belt running from a medial to a lateral edge of the article of footwear, in an ankle region. The belt optionally comprises at least one stretchable strap.
