Description détaillée de l'invention
[0068] With reference to figures 1 And 2A nail gun-shaped combustion tool 100 for driving nails into a substrate is shown. The combustion tool 100 comprises a fuel cartridge 10, a power supply means 101 (in this example, a battery) housed in a body 102 of the tool 100, and an electrical device 11 connected to the battery 101 to prepare fuel in the fuel cartridge 10 for combustion. In this example, the combustion tool 100 has a combustion chamber (not visible) which receives the fuel from the cartridge 10, ignites the fuel to drive a piston which, in turn, drives a nail into a substrate in the usual manner.
[0069] Fuel can be prepared in various ways, depending on the type of fuel and its vapor pressure. For example, combustion nailers typically use gaseous fuels stored in the cartridge as pressurized liquids. During metering, the fuel vaporizes, which lowers its temperature and that of the surrounding components. In this case, moderate heating may be sufficient to prepare the fuel for ignition.
[0070] This heating can be achieved by heating the fuel cartridge 10, which can be done in various ways. In the case of the combustion tool 100 of the figure 1 The electrical device 11 includes a heating device with a heating element 13. The heating device 11 is mounted in the combustion tool 100 and is intended to make thermal contact with the fuel cartridge 10.
[0071] More specifically, and as illustrated in the figure 2 The combustion tool 100 includes a foam material 103 between the heating element 13 of the heating device 11 and an adjacent part of the combustion tool 100. When the fuel cartridge 10 is mounted in the combustion tool 100, the foam material 103 causes the heating element 13 to come into thermal contact with the fuel cartridge 10.
[0072] The fuel cartridge 10 can be removed from the body 102 of the combustion tool 100, while the electrical device 11 remains mounted to the body 102. When the fuel cartridge 10 is inserted, a body 12 of the fuel cartridge 10 engages the heating element 13 and compresses the foam material 103, so that the heating element 13 is forced against the body 12.
[0073] There figure 3 shows a combustion tool 200 according to another example similar to the combustion tool 100 of the figure 1 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. The 200 combustion tool in this example differs from that of the figure 1 in that the electrical device 21 is associated with the fuel cartridge 20 and both are removable from the body 202 of the combustion tool 200.
[0074] More specifically, in the example of the figure 4 The heating element 23 comprises two spaced printed circuit boards, fixed to an external surface of the body 202 and electrically connected to each other. This can be achieved using a sticker or label incorporating the printed circuit boards 23, or by printing them directly onto the surface. Those skilled in the art will understand that a single printed circuit board 23 may be supplied, which can cover any proportion of the external surface of the body 202.
[0075] The heating element 21 is electrically connected to the battery 201 by electrical contacts (not shown) of the tool 200. These electrical contacts (not shown) can engage with the corresponding electrical contacts (not shown) of the fuel cartridge 20 when the latter is inserted into the body 202. At least one of the contacts may include spring contacts.
[0076] There figure 5 shows a fuel cartridge 30 according to another example similar to the fuel cartridge 20 of the figure 4 where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 10. The 30 fuel cartridge shown in this example can be used with the 200 combustion tool illustrated in the figure 3 The 30 fuel cartridge in this example differs from that of the figure 4 in that the body 32 is made of an electrically resistive material. The body 32 therefore functions as a heating element 33 of the heating device 31.
[0077] The inventors observed that only gaseous fuels with a high vaporization pressure are currently used, as they can vaporize at a relatively low temperature. This eliminates candidate fuels that might otherwise be suitable because they vaporize too slowly at cold temperatures, resulting in an unacceptable delay in the ignition sequence.
[0078] It would therefore be advantageous to include a system for using fuels with lower vaporization, such as liquid fuels. Expanding the range of fuel types usable in combustion devices, particularly fuels with a low climate impact, could also be beneficial. However, most of these fuels require an energy source (heat, kinetic energy, microwaves, ultrasound, etc.) to convert them into a combustible state. Ammonia (NH3) is an example of such a fuel, and it ideally requires a cracking process to produce a usable fuel for combustion. Cracking ammonia allows for the extraction of hydrogen, which has excellent combustion properties, a wide flammability range, and does not generate carbon oxide emissions.
[0079] Although it is possible to adapt the examples described above to introduce sufficient energy into the fuel contained in cartridge 10, 20, 30 to prepare certain fuels for combustion, the inventors have determined that the direct introduction of heat or other means of activation may be necessary for certain fuels.
[0080] With this in mind, the figure 6 shows a fuel cartridge 40 according to another example similar to the fuel cartridge 20 of the figure 4 where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 20. The 40 fuel cartridge can be used with the 200 combustion tool shown in the figure 3 The fuel cartridge 40 in this example differs from that of the figure 4 in that the heating element 43 includes a heating coil in this example, inside the cartridge 40.
[0081] There figure 7 features a 50 fuel cartridge according to another example similar to the 40 fuel cartridge of the figure 6 where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 10. The 50 fuel cartridge can be used with the 200 combustion tool shown in the figure 3 The 50 fuel cartridge in this example differs from that of the figure 7 in that the electrical device 51 includes a vaporizer in the cartridge 50, which serves to activate the fuel C by vaporizing it before it is introduced into the combustion chamber (not shown).
[0082] The vaporizer 51 includes air inlets 54 at one end of the fuel cartridge 50, a central channel 55 fluidly connecting the air inlets 54 to an outlet 56 at the other end of the fuel cartridge 50, and one or more wicks 57 immersed in the fuel C. The heating element 53 of the vaporizer 51 is located in the central channel 55 and is fluidly connected to the wick(s) 57.
[0083] During use, air is drawn into the central channel 55 from the air inlets 54 by an airflow induction means (not shown) and through the heating element 53. The fuel C is drawn into the heating element 53 through the wick(s) 57 and vaporizes in the airflow passing through the central channel 55.
[0084] A person skilled in the art will understand that other vaporization devices are also conceivable without departing from the scope of the invention. Furthermore, as illustrated in the figure 8 The vaporizer 51 does not need to be associated with the fuel cartridge 50.
[0085] More specifically, the figure 8 shows a combustion tool 300 according to another example similar to the combustion tool 200 of the figure 3 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. Furthermore, the 300 combustion tool is used with a 60 fuel cartridge, which is similar to the 50 fuel cartridge shown in the figure 7 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 10. The assembly according to this example differs from that of the figures 3 And 7 in that the vaporizer 61 is external to the fuel cartridge 60. The combustion chamber 304 is also shown.
[0086] Since the fuel C in the fuel cartridge 60 is a liquid, the cartridge 60 may in this case include a plunger 67 immersed in the fuel C, through which the fuel C is drawn by a tube 68 and exits through the outlet 66 to the external vaporizer 61. The vaporizer 61 operates in the same way as the vaporizer 51 described above in relation to the fuel cartridge 50 of the figure 7 . Since the vaporizer 61 is external to the cartridge 60, the air inlets (not shown) can be upstream or downstream of the vaporizer 61, without necessarily being part of the cartridge 60.
[0087] Furthermore, the figure 9 shows a combustion tool 400 according to another example similar to the combustion tool 300 of the figure 8 where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. The 400 combustion tool in this example uses the same 60 fuel cartridge as the 300 tool in the figure 8 , but differs in that the vaporizer 71 includes an ultrasonic actuator and / or a piezoelectric actuator 79. These actuators allow the fuel to be micronized in order to facilitate its vaporization and combustion.
[0088] It is also envisaged that the electrical device of the combustion tool or fuel cartridge could be configured to activate or prepare a fuel in a different way. For example, when the fuel is ammonia, the electrical device could be configured to subject it to a cracking process before it is introduced into the combustion chamber.
[0089] There figure 10 shows a 500 combustion tool according to another example similar to the 400 combustion tool of the figure 9 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. The 500 combustion tool in this example differs from that of the figure 9 in that the fuel cartridge 560 contains ammonia and the vaporizer 71 is replaced by a converter 571 to convert the ammonia.
[0090] More specifically, the converter 571 is configured to separate or crack ammonia into its constituent elements, particularly nitrogen and hydrogen. These constituent elements are then introduced into the combustion chamber 504 to be ignited.
[0091] There figure 11 shows a 600 combustion tool according to another example similar to the 500 combustion tool of the figure 10 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. The 600 combustion tool in this example differs from that of the figure 10 in that it includes an evaporator 661 upstream of the converter 671.
[0092] There figure 12 shows a 700 combustion tool according to another example similar to the 500 combustion tool of the figure 10 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 200. The 700 combustion tool in this example differs from that of the figure 10 in that it includes an external tank R containing the ammonia, which is removably coupled to the converter 771, and the cartridge 760 includes a storage buffer downstream of the converter 771 to contain the converted fuel. In this example, the cartridge 760 is periodically replenished and therefore does not need to be removable from the body 702.
[0093] There figure 13 shows a combustion tool 800 according to another example similar to the combustion tool 700 of the figure 12 , where similar references represent similar characteristics, incremented by 100. The 800 combustion tool in this example differs from that of the figure 12 in that it includes an 880 filling module which includes the R tank and the 871 converter.
[0094] The converter 871 in this example includes a power cable 871a for connection to a mains power supply AS. The filling module 880 is removably connected to the fuel cartridge 860 mounted in the body 802 of the combustion tool 800 for filling. As in the example of the figure 12 , the 860 cartridge is periodically refilled and therefore does not need to be removed from the 802 body.
[0095] It is also envisaged that the combustion tool 800 may include another electrical device (not shown), such as a heating device, inside the body 802, which may be powered by a battery (not shown). Other configurations are also envisaged without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0096] Although the combustion tools 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, and 800 described above are all nailers, those skilled in the art will understand that the invention can be incorporated into any other suitable combustion tool. Preferably, but not necessarily, these are combustion tools designed to drive fasteners into a substrate, such as a stapler or any other combustion tool of that type.
[0097] Those skilled in the art will understand that the embodiments described above can vary in many ways, provided they are consistent with the scope of the claims. Liste des signes de références
