AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional cutting blade mechanisms for forming sheet pieces from a continuous strip-shaped sheet require complex mechanisms for advancement and retreat, posing safety concerns and necessitating additional safety measures.

Method used

A sheet piece forming device using a fixed cutting blade, combined with a feed and delivery unit, alternately transitions the strip-shaped sheet between sagging and tensioned states to facilitate cutting, ensuring the sheet is pressed against the cutting edge without a complicated mechanism.

Benefits of technology

The solution allows safe and efficient cutting of strip-shaped sheets using a fixed cutting blade, reducing the risk of entanglement and adhesive contamination, and enabling continuous sheet piece formation with improved maintenance performance.

Abstract

A sheet piece forming device allows formation of sheet pieces sequentially using a strip-shaped sheet including a plurality of regions to become the sheet pieces, in such a manner as to form each of the sheet pieces from a head region at a head of the strip-shaped sheet among the regions. The sheet piece forming device comprises a cutting blade fixed at a predetermined position, a feed unit, and a delivery unit. The feed unit allows the strip-shaped sheet to be fed from an upstream-side nip position that is a nip position on an upstream-side with respect to the cutting blade. The delivery unit allows the strip-shaped sheet to be drawn into a downstream-side nip position that is a nip position on a downstream side with respect to the cutting blade. The predetermined position is a position that brings the strip-shaped sheet into contact with a cutting edge of the cutting blade when the strip-shaped sheet is in a tensioned state where the strip-shaped sheet is tensioned without a sag between the upstream-side nip position and the downstream-side nip position.
