Abstract

The present disclosure refers to the automatic planting of living plants, by means (12, 14, 30, 15, 15a, 15b) of moving structures, such as carts - movable by resort of an associable vehicle - or vehicles, which provide the automatic planting of living plants provided in such moving structures or assemblies. It innovatively improves prior art, allowing to plant at least the same number of plants per hour which prior art solutions plant in one day. It refers to an automatic planting movable assembly (10) which includes a planting module (20, 102, 104) which is movable between a planting position in which the planting module (20, 102, 104) is inserted into the soil to therein plant a living plant. In this position, the planting module (20, 102, 104) is releasable to freely move along the direction of movement (106, 108, 110) while the base moving means (12) are maintained in movement (106, 108, 110) together with the body (11), and thereby the whole movable assembly (10) along the direction of movement (106, 108, 110).

Description

[0001] A MOVABLE ASSEMBLY FOR AUTOMATICALLY PLANTING LIVING PLANTS ALONG A PLANTING LINE

[0002] AREA OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0003] The present disclosure refers to the automatic planting of living plants, by means of moving structures, such as carts - movable by resort of an associable vehicle - or vehicles, which provide the automatic planting of living plants provided in such moving structures or assemblies.

[0004] PRIOR ART

[0005] One of the most common solutions to provide a certain automation in the planting of living plants is track planters, which include an excavator, and which move at different velocities. This sort of equipment stops to dig a hole in which, then, a living plant is provided.

[0006] Other more automated solutions exist, namely including the automatic loading of living plants. These solutions again include the digging of a hole and a subsequent planting of the living plant into such hole, in an automated manner. This sort of equipment may consist of an add-on or attachment to be provided in a vehicle. Again, the vehicle stops to dig the hole and plant the living plant, then resuming movement until the next planting.

[0007] These solutions known in the art allow, at best, 60 plants per hour, typically resulting in 300-400 plants a day, considering 6-7 hours of useful time. Plants may consist of trees, such as saplings.

[0008] The solution of the present disclosure innovatively improves prior art, allowing to plant at least the same number of plants per hour which prior art solutions plant in one day.

[0009] SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0010] The present disclosure comprises, in a first aspect, a movable assembly for automatically planting a living plant, the movable assembly comprising i) a body, ii) base moving means coupled to the body and movable along a direction of movement substantially parallel to soil provided below the movable assembly and iii) a planting module, the planting module being adapted to contain a living plant and being coupled to the body, wherein the planting module being movable between a planting position in which the planting module is inserted into the soil to therein plant a living plant and a recharge position in which the planting module is provided away and thereby above the soil, and when in the planting position, the planting module is releasable to freely move along the direction of movement while the base moving means are maintained in movement together with the body, and thereby the whole movable assembly along the direction of movement, and, the movable assembly further comprises secondary moving means coupled to the body and containing drive means which engage with and which actively move the planting module when not in the planting position, moving the planting module in relation to the body and the base moving means, along the direction of movement, wherein the movement of drive means causes the planting module to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module is released from the drive means to move freely along the direction of movement, the drive of the drive means thereby not being imposed to the planting module.

[0011] The drive means may consist of one or more drive chains in which the planting module is engaged, the movement of the chain or chains causes the planting module to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module is released to move freely along the direction of movement by releasing it from the one or more drive chains, the drive of the drive chain or chains thereby not being imposed to the planting module.

[0012] The movable assembly of the present disclosure is, thus, particularly suitable for automatically planting living plants in the field, namely to plant a plurality of trees along a planting line, allowing to plant a forest at a rate much higher than those of prior art solutions, by maintaining a constant velocity.

[0013] The planting module may be movable in relation to the body between two end positions along the direction of movement, wherein the body comprises limiting elements which limit the movement between such two end positions.

[0014] The movable assembly may comprise vertical moving means configured to move the planting module being between the planting position and the recharge position, the vertical moving means comprising first and second vertical moving means, the first vertical moving means imposing a first velocity to the second vertical moving means and the second vertical moving means imposing a total velocity to the planting module which consists of the sum of the first velocity with a second velocity.

[0015] The first vertical moving means may comprise a first actuator and the second vertical moving means comprise a second actuator.

[0016] The body may comprise an open section provided in it, the planting module being provided within the open section such that a living plant is providable directly from above the planting module.

[0027] The method comprises the steps of: moving the movable assembly along a direction of movement substantially parallel to soil provided below the movable assembly, together with a planting module, providing a plant in a planting module, lowering the planting module until providing it within the soil and allowing the planting module to move freely along the direction of movement, raising the planting module at least until removing it from the soil and again making it solidary with the movable assembly along the direction of movement, and moving the planting module in relation to the body and the base moving means along the direction of movement.

[0028] The method may be repeated, allowing to plant a plurality of living plants along a planting line, planting a forest when planting a plurality of living plants along a plurality of planting lines. When moving from a planting line to another, the direction of movement may be changed such that the movable assembly is aligned with the new planting line. The new planting line may be substantially parallel to the prior planting line.

Such cups are automatically moved to a buffer zone, from which they are transferred into the planting module. Living plants are transferred one by one from the buffer zone to the planting module. A constant velocity is imposed to the trailer, which moves without stopping while the planting module is put into the planting position (pp). The planting module (20) may then be again moved to the recharge position (rp), in a vertical movement as regards the soil. Due to the free movement of the planting module (20) while in such position, the constant velocity may be maintained, thus increasing the planting rate of the movable assembly (10).

Furthermore, the movement of the planting module (20) in relation to the body (11) of the movable assembly (10) - and parts solidary with it - when in the planting position (pp), a released movement (Mr), is shown. In such released movement (Mr), the planting module (20) is disengaged from the drive chain (14), and moves freely along the direction of movement (Dom). The planting module (20) comprises a parallelepipedal hollow tube (21) in which a living plant may be provided prior to planting. A lid (22) is provided at the bottom of the hollow tube (21). When the lid (22) is open, the living plant provided in the hollow tube is dropped through a bottom opening (23) provided in the hollow tube (21), into the hole dug by the planting module (20). The lower section of the hollow tube (21), which includes the bottom opening (23), forms a wedge shape (25). As can be seen, the bottom opening (23) is transversally provided in relation to a soil plane (horizontal). The wedge shape (25) of the tube (21) digs a hole in the soil when provided in the planting position (pp). By opening the lid (22), the living plant falls into the dug hole. Through such opening, water, gel or fertilizer (each from a dedicated tank or the fertilizer tank), may be provided, to join such elements to the living plant when planted and further automate the process.

Claims

CLAIMS1. A movable assembly (10) for automatically planting a living plant, the movable assembly (10) comprising i) a body (11), ii) base moving means (12) coupled to the body (11) and movable along a direction of movement (Dom) substantially parallel to soil provided below the movable assembly (10) and iii) a planting module (20), the planting module (20) being adapted to contain a living plant and being coupled to the body (11), the planting module (20) being movable between a planting position in which the planting module (20) is inserted into the soil to therein plant a living plant and a recharge position in which the planting module (20) is provided away and thereby above the soil, and when in the planting position, the planting module (20) is releasable to freely move along the direction of movement (Dom) while the base moving means (12) are maintained in movement together with the body (11), and thereby the whole movable assembly (10) along the direction of movement (Dom), and, the movable assembly (10) further comprises secondary moving means (14) coupled to the body (11) and which containing drive means which engage with and actively move the planting module (20) when not in the planting position, moving the planting module (20) in relation to the body (11) and the base moving means (12), along the direction of movement (Dom), wherein the movement of drive means causes the planting module (20) to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module (20) is released from the drive means to move freely along the direction of movement (Dom), the drive of the drive means thereby not being imposed to the planting module (20).

2. A movable assembly (10) according to the previous claim wherein the drive means consist of one or more drive chains in which the planting module (20) is engaged, the movement of the chain or chains causes the planting module (20) to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module (20) is released to move freely along the direction of movement (Dom) by releasing it from the one or more drive chains, the drive of the drive chain or chains thereby not being imposed to the planting module (20).

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein the planting module (20) is movable in relation to the body (11) between two end positions along the direction of movement (Dom), wherein the body (11) comprises limiting elements which limit the movement between such two end positions.

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein it comprises vertical moving means configured to move the planting module (20) being between the planting position and the recharge position, the vertical moving means comprising first and second vertical moving means (15b), the first vertical moving means (15a) imposing a first velocity to the second vertical moving means (15b) and the second vertical moving means (15b) imposing a total velocity to the planting module (20) which consists of the sum of the first velocity with a second velocity, optionally the first vertical moving means (15a) comprising a first actuator (15ai) and the second vertical moving means (15b) comprising a second actuator (15bi).

5. A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein the body (11) comprises an open section provided in the body (11), the planting module (20) is provided within the open section such that a living plant is providable directly from above the planting module (20).

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein it further comprises living plant feeding means (30), the living plant feeding means (30) being arranged such that automatically and continuously provide living plants into the planting module (20), for subsequent planting.

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein the base moving means (12) comprise at least two wheels, the movable assembly (10) thereby being at least a two-wheeled movable assembly (10), or the base moving means (12) comprising at least two tracks, the movable assembly (10) thereby being at least a two-tracked movable assembly (10).

8. A movable assembly (10) according to the previous claim wherein it further comprises at least one inclinometer and the wheels being configured such that height of each wheel being adjustable based on one or more measurements of the inclinometer.

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein the planting module (20) comprises at least one main hollow tube (21), optionally a parallelepipedal hollow tube (21), and a lid (22) provided in a bottom opening (23) of the main hollow tube (21), the opening and closing of such lid (22) being controllable.

A movable assembly (10) according to the previous claim wherein the main hollow tube (21) comprises one or more side openings (24), one further hollow tube (21) being provided in each opening, wherein water, gel, or fertilizer provided in the further hollow tube (21) reaches the bottom opening (23) of the main hollow tube (21).

11. A movable assembly (10) according to the previous claim wherein a lower section of the main hollow tube (21), which includes the bottom opening (23), forms a wedge shape (25), wherein the bottom opening (23) is transversally provided in relation to a soil plane.

12. A movable assembly (10) according to any of the claims 9-11 wherein it is configured such that the lid (22) is opened when the planting module (20) is in the planting position.

A movable assembly (10) according to any of the preceding claims wherein it consists of a non-motorized trailer associable with a motorized vehicle or of a vehicle, in which case the base moving means (12) are configured to move the vehicle at a selectable velocity, wherein such velocity may be constant.

14. A method (100) for operating a movable assembly (10) to automatically plant a living plant, the method comprising the steps of: moving (102) the movable assembly (10) along a direction of movement (Dom) substantially parallel to soil provided below the movable assembly (10), together with a planting module (20), providing (104) a plant in a planting module (20), lowering (106) the planting module (20) until providing it within the soil and allowing the planting module (20) to move freely along the direction of movement (Dom), raising (108) the planting module (20) at least until removing it from the soil and again making it solidary with the movable assembly (10) along the direction of movement (Dom), and moving (110) the planting module (20) in relation to the body (11) and the base moving means (12) along the direction of movement (Dom), wherein drive means move and cause the planting module (20) to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module (20) is released from the drive means to move freely along the direction of movement (Dom), the drive of the drive means thereby not being imposed to the planting module (20).

A method according to the previous claim wherein the drive means consist of one or more drive chains in which the planting module (20) is engaged, the movement of the chain or chains causes the planting module (20) to move and, when placed into the planting position, the planting module (20) is released to move freely along the direction of movement (Dom) by releasing it from the one or more drive chains, the drive of the drive chain or chains thereby not being imposed to the planting module (20), optionally the method being implemented by the movable assembly (10) of any of the claims 1-13.
