TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The disclosure relates to absorbent articles such as disposable absorbent articles, preferably selected from the group consisting of diapers (whether for baby or adults), pants (whether for baby or adults), pantiliners, briefs, sanitary napkins, and combinations thereof comprising an improved elasticized component.BACKGROUND

[0002] Disposable absorbent garments, or disposable absorbent articles, such as infant diapers or training pants, adult incontinence products and other such products typically are constructed with a liquid impervious outer backsheet, a liquid pervious body-contacting topsheet, and an absorbent core sandwiched between said topsheet and backsheet. Such disposable absorbent articles, usually comprise elasticized components.

[0005] N,N-dimethylacetamide and / or 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one is a solvent commonly used in the process of manufacturing elastic material such as elastane, meaning that in traditional processes of making elastane there will always be traces of N,N-dimethylacetamide and / or 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one. This presence is unavoidable because elastane is made by dry spinning where polyurethane and a solvent such as N,N-dimethylacetamide and / or 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one are mixed and dried together thereby leaving traces of N,N-dimethylacetamide and / or 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one in the final product. These traces are undesired since N,N-dimethylacetamide and / or 1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-one are hazardous materials detrimental to the health of the wearer and caregiver. However, manufacturing processes such as melt spinning where the polyurethane is directly cooled down without the need for such hazardous solvents exist.
