[0028] In the following, the present invention is described in detail based on an illustrated embodiment.
[0029] In the drawings, arrow Fr indicates the front side of the vehicle, arrow O indicates the outer side of the vehicle, and arrow U indicates the upper side of the vehicle.
[0030] Figures 1 to 10 show a side part structure of a vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment has right and left center pillars (B-pillars) 1 located in the middle in the front-rear direction of the vehicle in side view of the vehicle and provided along the up-down direction of the vehicle, and, on the outer sides of the vehicle of the center pillars 1, side body panels also serving as outer panels are provided (not shown). On the inner side of the vehicle width direction of the outer panel (not shown) of each B-pillar 1 is provided a reinforcing member 4 joining a roof side rail portion 2 of the upper vehicle side and a side sill portion 3 of the lower vehicle side, and the roof side rail portion 2 and the side sill portion 3 extend respectively in the front-rear direction of the vehicle at the upper and lower end portions of the B-pillar 1. That is, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, in the section from the upper end portion to the lower end portion of the B-pillar 1, at least two constituent panel members overlap, and there is no portion where the number of constituent panel members is limited to one.The side sill of the side sill part 3 is installed vertically with the opening disposed on the vehicle inner side and formed in a hat-shaped sectional view configuration.
[0031] As shown in Figure 1, the reinforcing member 4 of the present embodiment has an outer-side upper part reinforcing member (rear door hinge upper reinforcement) 41 of which an upper end part 41a is fixed to the roof side rail part 2, and an outer-side lower part reinforcing member (rear door hinge lower reinforcement) 42 of which a lower end part 42b is fixed to the side sill part 3. On the other hand, as shown in Figures 2, 4 and 5, on the vehicle inner side of the lower end part of the center pillar 1, there is provided an inner-side lower part member (center pillar inner lower part) 12 of which a lower end part 12b is joined to the side sill part 3, and a lower end part 41b of the outer-side upper part reinforcement member 41 extends to an upper end part 12a of an inner-side lower part member 12, and has a joining part W with respect to the inner-side lower part member 12.
[0032] As illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, the front and rear end portions 42c and 42d of the outer-side lower portion reinforcing member 42 are joined together while being held between front and rear end portions 41c and 41d of the outer-side upper portion reinforcing member 41 and front and rear end portions 12c and 12d of the inner-side lower portion member 12.That is, the outer-side upper portion reinforcing member 41 and the outer-side lower portion reinforcing member 42 are formed in substantially the same hat-shaped sectional view configuration in which the intermediate portion in the front-rear direction of the vehicle protrudes toward the outside of the vehicle, and are arranged to overlap each other, and, at the same time, the inner-side lower portion member 12 is formed in a substantially hat-shaped sectional view configuration in which the intermediate portion in the front-rear direction of the vehicle protrudes toward the inner side of the vehicle. Thus, at the lower portion of the central pillar 1, a closed-section structure portion 10 is formed by the inner-side lower-portion member 12 and the outer-side lower-portion reinforcing member 42, and, between the inner-side lower-portion member 12 and the outer-side lower-portion reinforcing member 42, a spacer portion S having a predetermined size is formed, with a seat belt retractor described below disposed in the spacer portion S.
[0033] As illustrated in Figure 5, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, the upper end part 42a of the outer-side lower part reinforcement member 42 extends toward the upper side of the vehicle beyond the upper end part 12a of the inner-side lower part member 12, and is joined to the lower end part 41b of the outer-side upper part reinforcement member 41. At the joining part between the outer-side lower part reinforcement member 42 and the outer-side upper part reinforcement member 41, an overlapping part D having a predetermined length in the up-down direction of the vehicle is formed. As shown in Figure 6, in vehicle side view, an upper end Da of the overlapping portion D is located farther from the vehicle upper side than the upper end 51a of a seat cushion rear end portion 6 of a front seat 51, and a lower end Db of the overlapping portion D is located farther from the . vehicle lower side than the lower end 51b of the seat cushion rear end portion 5, the overlapping portion D and the seat cushion rear end portion 51 being arranged to overlap each other. That is, the predetermined length in the up-down direction of the vehicle that the overlapping portion D has is set to be of a size to accommodate the entire seat cushion rear end portion 51. Furthermore, the extent of the predetermined length in the up-down direction of the vehicle that the overlapping portion D has is located on the vehicle outer side of the rotation center (not shown) of the seat rear hinge in vehicle side view.
[0034] In this way, the overlapping portion D is arranged at a different height from the rear end portion of the seat cushion 51 in side view of the vehicle, so that, during a side collision of the vehicle, the deformation of the central pillar 1 in the vicinity of the seating position of the front seat cushion 5 is suppressed, making it possible to reduce the extent of the entry of the central pillar 1 into the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
[0035] As illustrated in Figures 5 and 7, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, on the vehicle inner side at the lower end portion of the center pillar 1, a seat belt retractor 6 mounted on the inner side lower portion member 12 is disposed, and the seat belt retractor 6 is held in position by being fixed to the upper end portion 12a of the inner side lower portion member 12 using a fixing member 61 such as a screw. Furthermore, in vehicle side view, the seat belt retractor 6 is disposed at a position where it overlaps the overlapping portion D. In other words, in vehicle side view, the overlapping portion D has an extent overlapping the seat belt retractor 6.By arranging the seat belt retractor 6 and the overlapping portion D in this positioning relationship, it is possible to mitigate the influence on the seat belt retractor 6 of the impact load input during a side collision of the vehicle.
[0036] Furthermore, as illustrated in Figures 2 and 8, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, on the vehicle inner side of the central pillar 1, there is provided an inner side upper part member 11 of which an upper end portion 11a is joined to the lower side surface of the roof side rail part 2, and the lower end portion 11b of the inner side upper part member 11 is joined to the upper end portion 42a of the outer side lower part reinforcement member 42. Accordingly, at the upper and lower joining portions of the overlapping portion D, there is provided a triple joining portion, so that the strength and rigidity of the part overlap D are improved, and, in a side collision of the vehicle, it is possible to further suppress the deformation of the lower portion of the center pillar 1.
[0037] On the other hand, as illustrated in Figures 1, 2, 6, and 7, the center pillar 1 of the present embodiment is provided with an upper-side door hinge 7 and a lower-side door hinge 8 supporting the front end portion of the vehicle of a rear door (not shown) so as to enable opening and closing, and the upper-side door hinge 7 and the lower-side door hinge 8 respectively have a plurality (two in the present embodiment) of hinge mounting portions 7a and 8a arranged at a predetermined interval in the up-down direction of the vehicle.Furthermore, the lower side door hinge 8 is arranged and mounted at the overlap portion D, and, in vehicle side view, the seat belt retractor 6 is arranged at the vehicle front side of the lower side door hinge 8.
[0038] By arranging the hinge mounting portions 7a and 8a of the upper-side door hinge 7 and the lower-side door hinge 8 side by side in the up-down direction, it is possible to set the required space in the front-rear direction of the vehicle to be small, and to install them in a side-by-side position with the seat belt retractor 6 in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. Therefore, it is possible to arrange the mounting position of the lower-side door hinge 8 at the lower portion of the center pillar 1, and to maximize the installation length of the upper-side door hinge 7 and the lower-side door hinge 8, thereby improving the installation rigidity of the rear door (not shown), and suppressing the shaking of the rear door.
[0039] As illustrated in Figures 9 and 10, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, there is provided, at the overlap portion D, a shoulder-shaped seat belt retractor housing portion 9 projecting toward the outer side of the vehicle and formed by a plurality (two in the present embodiment) of ribs 91 and 92 which are corner portions, and the side surface of the seat belt retractor housing portion 9 has a flat configuration. Among these ribs 91 and 92, the rib 91 is formed on the outer-side upper portion reinforcing member 41 and the rib 92 is formed on the outer-side lower portion reinforcing member 42.The ribs 91 and 92 are formed on both the outer-side upper part reinforcing member 41 and the outer-side lower part reinforcing member 42, and the peripheral edge portions of the protrusions are joined together while being superimposed on each other. Furthermore, the at least one rib 91 and 92 forming the seat belt retractor housing portion 9 is formed along the up-down direction of the vehicle between the hinge mounting portion 8a of the lower-side door hinge 8 and the portion . of seat belt retractor housing part 9, and the flat surface at the lower part of the center pillar 1 is divided by the rib 91, 92. The seat belt retractor 6 is disposed at the vehicle inner side position of the seat belt retractor housing part 9.
[0040] Due to this structure, the rigidity of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 relative to the vehicle width direction is increased, and the deformation at the overlap portion D that has received the impact load during a side collision of the vehicle is further suppressed. Furthermore, by overlapping the peripheral edge portions of the projection, the positioning of the overlap portion D is facilitated, and the practicality of assembly is improved. Furthermore, by housing the seat belt retractor 6 in the shoulder-shaped protruding seat belt retractor housing portion 9, the protruding amount of the seat belt retractor 6 into the vehicle passenger compartment is reduced, thereby minimizing the influence on the vehicle passenger compartment.Furthermore, the rib 91, 92 extending in the up-down direction of the vehicle divides the plane at the lower portion of the center pillar 1, whereby the surface rigidity of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 is increased, the deformation of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 is suppressed, and the rigidity of the side portion of the vehicle is improved.
[0041] In this way, in the vehicle side part structure according to the embodiment of the present invention, the central pillar 1 is provided along the up-down direction of the vehicle, and, on the inner side in the vehicle width direction of the outer panel of the central pillar 1, a reinforcing member 4 is provided, joining the roof side rail part 2 and the side sill part 3. The reinforcing member 4 has the outer side upper part reinforcing member 41 whose upper end part 41a is fixed to the roof side rail part 2, and the outer side lower part reinforcing member 42 whose lower end part 42b is fixed to the side sill part 3.Furthermore, on the vehicle inner side at the lower end portion of the B-pillar 1, an inner-side lower-side member 12 is provided, a lower end portion 12b of which is joined to the side sill portion 3. Furthermore, the lower end portion 41a of the outer-side upper-side reinforcement member 41 extends to the upper end portion 12a of the inner-side lower-side member 12, and has a joining portion W with respect to the inner-side lower-side member 12. Furthermore, the front and rear end portions 42c and 42d of the outer-side lower-side reinforcement member 42 are joined to each other while being held between the outer-side upper-side reinforcement member 41 and the inner-side lower-side member 12, and the upper end portion 42a of the reinforcement member. of the outer side lower part 42 extends toward the upper side of the vehicle beyond the upper end portion 12a of the inner side lower part member 12, and is joined to the lower end portion 41b of the outer side upper part reinforcement member 41. Furthermore, at the joining portion between the outer side lower part reinforcement member 42 and the outer side upper part reinforcement member 41, the overlap portion D having a predetermined length in the up-down direction of the vehicle is formed.
[0042] Thus, in the vehicle side part structure according to the present embodiment, the three members of the outer side upper part reinforcement member 41, the inner side lower part member 12, and the outer side lower part reinforcement member 42 are joined together at the same junction point, so that it is possible to improve the strength of the junction part of these three members, and it is possible to prevent deflection and entry into the vehicle inner side due to deformation of the central pillar 1 due to an impact load during a side collision of the vehicle.
[0043] Furthermore, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present invention, the closed-section structure portion 10 is formed at the lower portion of the center pillar 1 by the inner-side lower portion member 12 and the outer-side lower portion reinforcing member 42, and the lower end portion 41a of the outer-side upper portion reinforcing member 41 is supported by the closed-section structure portion 10, so that it is possible to improve the rigidity and strength of the lower end portion of the center pillar 1, making it possible to achieve an improvement in vehicle body rigidity of the vehicle side portion and effectively suppress the deformation of the center pillar 1 during a vehicle side collision.
[0044] Furthermore, in the vehicle side part structure of the present invention, there is provided at the lower part of the central pillar 1 the overlapping part D having a sufficient length in the up-down direction, so that it is possible to provide at the lower part of the central pillar 1 the closed-section structure part 10 having sufficient rigidity and a part having a sufficient thickness. Therefore, it is possible to improve the strength of the part close to the boundary part with respect to the side sill part 3 and subject to the occurrence of stress concentration, thereby reducing the plastic deformation of the central pillar 1 during a side collision of the vehicle, and suppressing the entry of the central pillar 1 into the inner side of the vehicle.
[0045] In the structure of the vehicle side portion of the present embodiment, in vehicle side view, the upper end Da of the overlapping portion D is located on the vehicle upper side of the upper end 51a of the portion seat cushion rear end portion 51 of the front seat 5, and the lower end Db of the overlapping portion D is located on the vehicle lower side of the lower end 51b of the seat cushion rear end portion 51, the overlapping portion D and the seat cushion rear end portion 51 being arranged to overlap each other.
[0046] Thus, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, it is possible to suppress the deformation of the center pillar 1 in the vicinity of the seat position of the front seat cushion 5 during a side collision of the vehicle. Accordingly, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, it is possible to reduce the extent of entry into the vehicle cabin of the center pillar 1 deformed by the entry of the impact load during a side collision of the vehicle, making it possible to secure the space in the vehicle cabin.
[0047] Furthermore, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, there is provided on the vehicle inner side of the lower end part of the central pillar 1 the seat belt retractor 6 mounted on the inner side lower part member 12, and, in vehicle side view, the seat belt retractor 6 is provided at a position where it overlaps the overlapping part D.
[0048] Thus, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, it is possible to mitigate the influence on the seat belt retractor 6 exerted by the center pillar 1 by the input of the impact load during a side collision of the vehicle, thereby effectively preventing a malfunction caused by a breakage or the like of the seat belt retractor 6.
[0049] In the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, on the vehicle inner side of the center pillar 1, there is provided an inner side upper part member 11 of which an upper end portion 11a is joined to the roof side rail portion 2, and a lower end portion 11b of the inner side upper part member 11 is joined to the upper end portion 42a of the outer side lower part reinforcement member 42. Thus, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, at each of the upper and lower joining portions of the overlapping portion D, there is provided a triple overlapping joining portion, so that it is possible to improve the strength and rigidity of the overlapping portion D, and to more effectively suppress the deformation of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 during a vehicle side collision.
[0050] In the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, the central pillar 1 is provided with the upper side door hinge 7 and the hinge lower side door hinge 8 of the rear door (not shown), and the upper side door hinge 7 and the lower side door hinge 8, respectively, have a plurality of hinge mounting portions 7a and 8a arranged at intervals in the up-down direction of the vehicle. The lower side door hinge 8 is arranged at, and mounted at, the overlap portion D, and, in vehicle side view, the seat belt retractor 6 is arranged on the vehicle front side of the lower side door hinge 8.
[0051] Thus, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, the hinge mounting parts 7a and 8a of the upper side door hinge 7 and the lower side door hinge 8 are arranged side by side in the up-down direction, so that it is possible to decrease the space required in the front-rear direction of the vehicle of the upper side door hinge 7 and the lower side door hinge 8, thereby enabling them to be installed side by side with the seat belt retractor 6 in the front-rear direction of the vehicle, and to improve the degree of freedom in design. Therefore, it is possible to arrange the mounting position of the lower side door hinge 8 at the lower part of the center pillar 1, and to cause the upper side door hinge 7 and the lower side door hinge 8 to be spaced apart from each other by a maximum distance, thereby improving the installation rigidity of the rear door (not shown) and suppressing the shaking of the rear door.
[0052] Furthermore, in the vehicle side part structure of the present embodiment, at the overlapping part D, the shoulder-shaped seat belt retractor housing part 9 protruding toward the vehicle outer side and formed by a plurality of ribs 91 and 92 is provided, and at least one rib 91, 92 forming the seat belt retractor housing part 9 is formed along the up-down direction of the vehicle between the hinge mounting part 8a of the lower-side door hinge 8 and the seat belt retractor housing part 9. In addition, at the vehicle inner-side position of the seat belt retractor housing part 6, the seat belt retractor 9 is disposed.
[0053] Thus, in the vehicle side portion structure of the present embodiment, it is possible to improve the rigidity of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 with respect to the vehicle width direction, and to more effectively suppress deformation at the overlap portion D receiving the impact load during a side collision of the vehicle. Furthermore, the seat belt retractor 6 is accommodated in the shoulder-shaped seat belt retractor accommodation portion 9, so that it is possible to reduce the amount by which the seat belt retractor 6 protrudes into the vehicle passenger compartment, and to minimize its influence on the passenger compartment space of the vehicle. In addition, the rib 91, 92 extending in the up-down direction of the vehicle divides the plane at the lower portion of the center pillar 1, whereby the surface rigidity of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 is increased, and the deformation of the lower portion of the center pillar 1 is suppressed, so that it is possible to improve the rigidity of the side portion of the vehicle. In addition, the surface rigidity of the hinge mounting portion 8a of the lower-side door hinge 8 and the seat belt retractor housing portion 9 is also improved, so that it is possible to reduce the generation of shaking or the like in the lower-side door hinge 8 and the seat belt retractor 6.
[0054] Although one embodiment of the present invention has been described above, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above and various modifications and alterations are permitted based on the technical idea of the present invention.
[0055] For example, while in the upper side door hinge 7 and the lower side door hinge 8 of the above-described embodiment two hinge mounting parts 7a and 8a are arranged side by side in the up-down direction of the vehicle, depending on the type of vehicle on which the present invention is implemented, they may be arranged side by side not only in the up-down direction of the vehicle, but also in the front-rear direction of the vehicle.
