Description

Title of the invention: Device for storing objects

[0001] The invention relates to a device for storing objects, of the type comprising a storage bottom part, a rigid part for supporting the bottom part and a hollow for receiving objects, formed between the bottom part and the support part.

[0002] Storage devices of this type are already known; they are, for example, in the form of bins in door panels or side trims, generally made of injected plastic. [Fig. 1] illustrates such a traditional storage device. In this figure, the reference numbers 1, 3 and 5 designate respectively the plastic storage base, the rigid support part and the hollow for receiving the objects.

[0003] These known storage devices have the major drawbacks that they are bulky and that the objects received are not immobilized in the storage cavity and, when moving, create vibrations and noise when the vehicle is moving, when they are fitted to such a vehicle.

[0004] The invention aims to overcome these drawbacks.

[0005] To achieve this aim, the storage device according to the invention is characterized in that the bottom part is formed by an elastically deformable membrane and thus capable of keeping the objects received in the storage cavity immobile.

[0006] The invention will be better understood, and other aims, characteristics, details and advantages thereof will appear more clearly in the explanatory description which follows, made with reference to the appended drawings given solely by way of example illustrating an embodiment of the invention and in which:

[0007] [fig.l] - [fig.l] is a schematic illustration of the principle of a known storage device;

[0008] [fig-2] - [fig.2] is a schematic representation of the principle of a device for storage according to the invention in the form of a vertical sectional view;

[0009] [fig.3] - [fig.3] is a schematic representation of a storage device according to the invention, corresponding to that of [fig.2] and adapted to hold relatively large objects such as a bottle;

[0010] [fig-4] - [fig.4] is a front view of a storage device according to the invention;

[0011] [fig.5] - [fig.5] shows the device of [fig.4], with a bottle lying in the storage space;

[0012] [fig.6] - [fig.6] is a view of the rear face of the storage device according to the invention;

[0013] [fig-7] - [fig.7] corresponds to [fig.2] and shows another version of the embodiment of the device according to the invention.

[0014] [fig.2] illustrates the principle of the configuration of a storage device according to the invention. Unlike the known device according to [fig.1], the storage base is formed by an element in the form of an elastically deformable membrane 7 fixed to a supporting frame 9, for example in the form of a frame. This frame could be an injected plastic part or a simple plastic plate cut to the shape of the storage. But any other suitable form of frame, for example a metal wire, is conceivable. The assembly formed by the frame and the membrane is fixed to the rigid support part now designated by the reference 11. According to the invention, the elastic membrane 7, in the undeformed state of [fig.2] is advantageously flat or slightly curved and is thus as space-saving as possible, the storage hollow 13 formed between the membrane 7 and the rising lower part of the rigid part 15 having a minimal volume.

[0015] [Fig. 3] illustrates the specific function of the elastic frame 7 according to the invention. In this [Fig. 3], an object 17 such as a bottle is engaged in the storage device. The insertion of the bottle causes the elastic deformation of the membrane 7 and the bottle is pressed against the rigid support part 17 by the reaction force produced by the elastically deformed membrane. It is easily understood that the bottle is thus immobilized in the storage device. Like the bottle, other objects introduced into the storage cavity 13 by elastically deforming the membrane and thus creating a pressing reaction force against the rigid support structure part are kept immobile and are thus prevented from causing noise when a vehicle equipped with the storage device is moving.

[0016] In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the membrane 7 is a textile woven from warp and weft threads, into which elastane has been integrated, allowing a certain flexibility and elastic deformation to enable the device to accommodate all types of objects and all kinds of shapes. The textile must have a property integrating significant elasticity ensuring significant resistance to elongation and thus allowing the textile to deform elastically and produce a force for pressing the objects against the rigid support part. The structure of the textile can be modified during weaving by integrating more or less elastane. The textile can thus be produced to have specific characteristics and a high elongation power. The textile can be sewn or welded or fixed in any other suitable manner to the rigid frame 9.

[0017] To ensure good plating and holding of the objects, it may be necessary to have elastic bands, such as bungee cord extenders behind the textile. The bands could be the extenders 19 placed on the rear face of the textile, for example in the manner visible in figures 5 and 6. In this [fig.6], the extenders have a zig-zag configuration (the expanders can be of various shapes, cylindrical or flat depending on the desired effect. The larger the expander's surface area, the greater the plating force will be. Example: a flat expander will have a larger plating surface).

[0018] As already indicated above, the textile must have appropriate elongation properties in order to be able to deform sufficiently to receive everyday objects such as the bottle in [fig.3]. For small objects, a textile pocket can be made independent of the textile base or an elastic strap can be used to hold a small object against the textile.

[0019] Figures 4 and 5 show the storage device according to the invention in front views clearly illustrating the insertion opening 21 in the rigid lining, with the flexible and elastic textile 7 at the bottom. [fig.5] also shows a bottle 18 in the lying state in the storage device.

[0020] The storage device according to the invention as described above is shown in the figures, by way of non-limiting example only, and has multiple advantages over the known storage device. First of all, the flexible storage device can receive and hold any type of object and product. For small everyday objects, the concept represented by [fig.7] makes it possible to create an additional pocket 21 to hold these objects. This textile pocket alternative can also be closed advantageously by using a quick closure such as a zipper for example (supplementary figure). The objects can be held without creating noise when a vehicle equipped with a device according to the invention is moving. This device is of reduced size compared to the known device, as is apparent from a comparison of figures 1 and 2.The invention also ensures weight savings by using less dense and more flexible materials than the plastic storage bases currently used for door panels and other automotive storage. The invention also allows for customization of the device through the use of textile, for example by an appropriate choice of thread color or by different weaving procedures such as weaving different thread materials, for example cotton, polyester, etc. The invention allows for very diverse applications. One can imagine the integration of the storage concept according to the invention on door panels, center consoles or even on side trims of trunks of motor vehicles.
