Description

Title of the invention: Hair treatment brush

[0001] The present invention relates to a hair treatment brush and the corresponding hair treatment method. Technical field

[0002] In the field of hair styling, it is common to use hairbrushes. Many improvements to traditional hairbrushes have been proposed. Among these improvements, the combined use of steam has been the subject of many proposals. Patent application DE19822718 mentions a comb whose teeth can be perforated to emit water vapor which comes into contact with the hair. Alternatively, the brush is devoid of steam outlet nozzles and the teeth are heated by a thermal resistance without applying steam. Such a brush with perforated teeth heated by steam can be relatively difficult to manufacture and tends to limit the temperature imparted to the hair. It can also present treatment irregularities due to local over-concentrations of steam on certain parts of the hair.

[0003] There are also documents describing styling brushes with steam emission through the base carrying the bristles or teeth during treatment, the latter serving as a heating means. Examples include documents US4936027, JPS5568318, JPH07213325, CN2061786, JPH01207001, JPH1033253, JPH07163416, JP2000175723 and KR19990036306U. None of these latter documents mention that the bristles or teeth can themselves be heated independently of the steam emission.

[0004] Patent application KR20030085159A describes a brush comprising a plurality of spikes heated by a thermal resistor in the base and having steam outlets between the spikes. In this document, the steam outlets and the spikes are distributed over the entire surface of the brush. Such a brush therefore does not allow steam to be applied to a limited part of the hair and to dissociate the action of the steam from the action of the dry heat.

[0005] There remains a need to benefit from a brush having improved treatment performance, particularly combing performance, which is relatively homogeneous and durable, while being safe. Summary of the invention

[0006] The present invention meets this need with the aid of a hair treatment brush, in particular a straightening brush, comprising: - a plurality of teeth, - at least one steam outlet for emitting steam onto the hair, the brush being configured to emit steam through the steam outlet at a speed of between 0.007 m / s and 15 m / s, better still between 0.01 m / s and 3 m / s and even better still between 0.1 and 1 m / s.

[0007] By "brush" is meant a hair treatment device consisting of a single arm carrying a plurality of teeth between which the hair is received when the brush passes over the hair. The brush may comprise a single row of teeth or preferably comprise a plurality of rows of teeth.

[0008] By "teeth" is meant projecting elements of the brush between which the hair is received when the brush passes over the hair. The teeth can be of any shape.

[0009] Such a brush allows hair to be treated effectively by brushing the hair and applying steam with the brush in a single action. The specific speed range of the steam allows for good penetration of the steam into the hair during treatment, which improves the treatment, particularly in the case of a thick lock of hair, while limiting the risk of discomfort, particularly for the scalp, which could be caused by excessive steam speed.

[0010] Preferably, the brush is of elongated shape along a main axis.

[0011] Alternatively, the brush is of another shape, not elongated.

[0012] Preferably, the brush comprises a handle and a head. The handle then facilitates gripping the brush and allows the insertion into the brush of additional elements, in particular a user interface, a water or cosmetic product reservoir and / or one or more sensors.

[0013] The brush head may be of any shape in cross section. Preferably, the brush head is of substantially polygonal cross section, in particular substantially rectangular or substantially square, substantially oval, or substantially circular.

[0014] Preferably, the brush comprises a treatment surface, the teeth extending from the treatment surface. Preferably, this treatment surface is flat or curved outwards. Preferably, this treatment surface has a substantially polygonal outline, in particular rectangular or square, circular or oval. Teeth

[0015] The teeth may extend along at least one row of teeth, better two rows of teeth, preferably each extending parallel to the main axis of the brush.

[0016] Preferably, the brush is of substantially rectangular shape and the teeth extend along several rows of teeth, each extending along the main axis of the brush for a brush with a treatment surface of substantially rectangular contour.

[0017] Preferably, the row(s) of teeth each comprise at least 3 teeth, better still between 10 and 40 teeth, even better still between 15 and 40 teeth.

[0018] Preferably, the brush comprises tooth heating means for heating at least a portion of the plurality of teeth, in particular at least two of the teeth, better still at least one or more rows of teeth. The combination of heating the teeth and applying steam makes it possible to improve the treatment of the hair. This makes it possible in particular to maintain a higher temperature in the steam application spaces, in particular the interdental spaces in the case where the steam is projected into these spaces. This also makes it possible to heat the hair with dry heat before or after the application of steam, which improves the treatment of the hair by steam.

[0019] Preferably, the heating means comprise at least one heating element in the body of the brush for heating the teeth by thermal conduction; as a variant, the brush comprises a heating element in each of the heated teeth, in particular constituting the core of the corresponding tooth.

[0020] The heating means may be thermal resistors or any other heating means.

[0021] Preferably, the teeth have a height of between 2 mm and 50 mm, better still between 5 mm and 20 mm.

[0022] Preferably, the teeth are free of surface growths.

[0023] Preferably, at least some of the teeth, better all of the teeth, are reported. on the brush, in particular fixed in holes in the treatment surface. Alternatively, at least some of the teeth, better all of the teeth, are integral with the treatment surface.

[0024] The teeth may extend perpendicular to the treatment surface or be inclined relative to said treatment surface.

[0025] Preferably, the teeth of a row are spaced apart by a distance of between 1 mm and 30 mm, better still between 2 mm and 15 mm. The spacing is measured between the longitudinal axes of the teeth.

[0026] Preferably, at least some of the teeth, better all of the teeth, are made of a heat-conducting material, in particular iron, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, graphite, or ceramic. The teeth made of a conductive material are preferably heated by the heating means. The teeth may be provided with a coating chosen from ceramic, tourmaline, elastomer, metal alloy and anodizing coating. This allows the teeth to be easily heated by the heating means, and for the hair to be in contact with hot surfaces in the heating combing zone. Said teeth may have at their end a thermal protection made of thermally insulating material to limit the heat in contact with the scalp. In this case, in operation, the maximum temperature at the end of said teeth may be less than or equal to 100°C, preferably less than or equal to 60°C, better still less than 45°C. The brush may be configured so that, in operation, the temperature of said teeth at mid-height is from 110°C to 230°C, better still from 110°C to 210°C, even better still from 180°C to 210°C.

[0027] A portion of the teeth may be made of a material that is not very heat conductive, for example elastomer or plastic.

[0028] The brush may comprise, along an axis perpendicular to the main axis of the brush, an alternation of rows of teeth made of a heat-conducting material and rows of teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting.

[0029] The teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conductive may be of a different height, in particular higher, than the teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conductive. Having teeth that are not very heat-conductive higher than the heat-conductive teeth makes it possible to limit contact between the scalp and the heat-conductive teeth, the teeth that are not very heat-conductive coming into contact with the scalp before the heat-conductive teeth. Steam outlet

[0030] The brush may have several steam outlets.

[0031] Preferably, the steam outlet(s) extend into a steam outlet zone of the brush delimited by the peripheral outer edges of the steam outlet(s), the steam outlet zone being elongated along an extension axis extending over more than 70%, better still more than 80% of the dimension of the treatment surface along the extension axis.

[0032] Preferably, the extension axis is parallel to the main axis of the brush.

[0033] The brush may have a steam outlet, in particular a single steam outlet. steam, elongated along the extension axis, in particular over the entire length of the steam outlet area. In this case, the steam outlet may have an opening greater than or equal to 5 mm2. The steam outlet may extend over more than 70%, better still more than 80% of the dimension of the treatment surface along the extension axis.

[0034] The brush may comprise a plurality of steam outlets extending along at least one row of steam outlets extending along the extension axis, in particular over the entire length of the steam outlet zone. The row of steam outlets may extend over more than 70%, better still more than 80% of the dimension of the treatment surface along the extension axis.

[0035] Preferably, the steam outlets open in the brush onto a common steam distribution chamber.

[0036] The steam outlets of the row of steam outlets may alternate with the teeth of a row of teeth, in particular teeth made of a heat-conducting material, as mentioned above.

[0037] Alternatively, the steam outlets are in an area of the brush without teeth.

[0038] Preferably, the brush comprises a steam projection system supplying steam to the steam outlet(s).

[0039] Preferably, the or each steam outlet extends over the treatment surface of the brush or over a tooth.

[0040] The steam outlet(s) may extend into one or more peripheral areas of the treatment surface of the brush.

[0041] Alternatively, the steam outlet(s) may extend into one or more internal zones of the treatment surface of the brush, being in particular bordered laterally by teeth, in particular rows of teeth, in particular teeth made of a heat-conducting material such as mentioned previously.

[0042] The steam outlet or at least one steam outlet may be at a distance of at least one tooth made of a heat-conducting material less than or equal to 5 cm, better still less than or equal to 2 cm.

[0043] Preferably, the brush, in particular the steam projection system, supplies the steam outlet(s) with a steam flow rate less than or equal to 5 mLmin *, better between 0.2 and 4 mLmin *, even better between 0.4 and 2 mLmin 1, preferably between 0.5 and 0.95 mLmin *.

[0044] The brush may include a steam containment groove through which the steam outlet(s) communicate. This allows the steam to be confined in a substantially closed space when the brush is used in contact with the hair, which may facilitate its application.

[0045] The brush, in particular the steam projection system, preferably comprises at least one vaporization chamber supplying the steam outlet(s) with steam. The vaporization chamber may be in the head of the brush or in the handle.

[0046] The steam outlet(s) may be of any cross-sectional shape, in particular substantially square, substantially rectangular, substantially round or ovoid.

[0047] The or each steam outlet has an opening less than or equal to 20 mm2, better still less than or equal to 10 mm2, even better still less than 5 mm2, most preferably less than 2 mm2.

[0048] The brush may comprise a reservoir for product to be sprayed, in particular water, in particular having a volume of between 1 mL and 50 mL. The reservoir may be in the handle or in the head.

[0049] The brush, in particular the steam projection system, may comprise a pump between the water tank and the steam outlet(s), in particular between the tank and the vaporization chamber. Application of a cosmetic product

[0050] The brush may comprise at least one member for applying a cosmetic product. The application member may be elongated and extend along an elongation axis, in particular parallel to the main axis.

[0051] The application member may extend into one or more peripheral zones of the treatment surface of the brush.

[0052] Alternatively, the application member may extend into one or more internal zones of the treatment surface of the brush, being in particular bordered laterally by teeth, in particular rows of teeth, in particular teeth made of a heat-conducting material such as mentioned previously or by the steam outlet(s).

[0053] The cosmetic product application member may be arranged so as to come into contact with the hair. The cosmetic product application member is preferably porous, elastically compressible, and may advantageously be made of an open-cell cellular material, such as PE (polyethylene) foam for example. The application member may be made of any material capable of releasing or diffusing the cosmetic product.

[0054] The application member may be removable.

[0055] The brush may include a reservoir for cosmetic product.

[0056] Preferably, the delivered cosmetic product is in a fluid state. By "in a fluid state" is meant liquid at room temperature (25°C) or at a higher temperature, between 25 and 50°C for example and at atmospheric pressure. In this case, the product may initially be in a solid or pasty state at room temperature in the reservoir and heated within the reservoir in order to make it sufficiently fluid to be dispensed by the dispensing mechanism provided to supply the application member. The product is thus fluid in the reservoir at the time of application.

[0057] The tank may be equipped with an electrical resistor, for example a thin screen-printed resistor, making it possible to raise the temperature of its contents above 50°C for example.

[0058] The cosmetic product may be a composition for cleaning, coloring, bleaching, conditioning, or shaping hair. Preferably, the cosmetic product is a hair shaping composition, in particular a hair curling, setting, or, preferably, hair straightening or smoothing composition.

[0085] Figures 1 to 4 illustrate an example of a brush 10 according to the invention.

[0086] The brush 10 comprises a gripping handle 15 and a treatment head 20. The head 20 is in top view substantially rectangular in shape with rounded corners, but it could be otherwise. The head could be in top view substantially polygonal, oval or round in particular.

[0087] The head 20 forms a treatment surface 21.

[0088] The head 20 comprises teeth 23 arranged in a plurality of rows which extend from the treatment surface 21. The rows of teeth 23 extend along a main axis X of the brush. The rows of teeth may comprise from 8 to 40 teeth, here 8 teeth have been shown for illustration purposes. The teeth may be attached to the brush, being in particular made of a material different from that defining the treatment surface.

[0089] The head 20 also comprises a plurality of steam outlets 30 which can alternate with the teeth 23 of one of the rows of teeth, here the central row.

[0090] In the illustrated embodiments, all of the teeth are identical, but alternatively the teeth may be of different materials, heights, shapes and / or orientations.

[0091] Preferably, the teeth 23 each extend along a longitudinal axis Y. The longitudinal axis Y of each tooth 23 can form an angle α with the treatment surface 21 of between 60 and 120°, for example substantially equal to 90°.

[0092] The teeth 23 are spaced apart by a distance d, measured between the longitudinal axes Y of the teeth, less than or equal to 40 mm, preferably between 1 mm and 10 mm.

[0093] Preferably, the height h of the teeth 23 is less than or equal to 50 mm, better still between 2 and 50 mm. Even better still between 5 and 35 mm.

[0094] As can be seen in [Fig. 3], the teeth 25 are heated by heating means. The brush 10 comprises, for example, one or more heating resistors 35, in particular in the head, and the teeth 25 are heated by thermal conduction from the head towards the distal end of the teeth 25. Preferably, the teeth are made of a heat-conducting material, in particular iron, aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, graphite or ceramic, possibly provided with a coating.

[0095] Preferably, the electrical resistor(s) 35 are located in the head of the brush as illustrated.

[0096] The brush 10 may include a temperature regulation system, not illustrated, using one or more sensors arranged near the heating resistor(s) or in contact with the brush and / or at the end of at least one of the teeth.

[0097] Alternatively, as illustrated in [Fig.5], the thermal resistor(s) 35 extend into the teeth 25 in the form of a heating core 37.

[0098] The steam outlets are supplied with steam, in the example illustrated, by a ramp 45, of elongated shape in a direction parallel to the main axis X, arranged in the head of the brush.

[0099] The steam outlets 30 are orifices opening onto the ramp, for example between 6 and 10 orifices, which are preferably equally distributed along the ramp 45 and each with an axis oriented substantially perpendicular to the median treatment plane, so that the steam is emitted perpendicular to the treatment surface along an axis W.

[0100] The steam outlets 30 can be of any shape, in particular square, rectangular, round or ovoid.

[0101] The steam outlets 30 extend over a steam outlet zone in the center of the brush, delimited by the lateral edges of the peripheral steam outlets, elongated along an extension axis E, in particular parallel to the main axis X. The steam outlet zone extends over a length e greater than or equal to 80% of the dimension 5 of the treatment surface on this axis.

[0102] The ramp 45 is supplied with steam by a vaporization chamber 42, heated by a heating element, itself supplied with product to be vaporized by a reservoir 48. The reservoir can be in the brush, in particular the handle or the head, as illustrated in [Fig.4], or offset in an external base 50 to which the brush is connected by a conduit for supplying product to be vaporized 52, as illustrated in [Fig.6].

[0103] The reservoir of product to be sprayed, in particular water, may have a volume of between 1 mL and 50 mL, when it is in the handle or in the head of the brush.

[0104] Preferably, the steam outlets have a steam flow rate of between 0.5 and 0.95 mLmin 'with a speed of the steam emitted at the outlet of the steam outlets of between 30cm / s and 5m / s.

[0105] When using the brush, the latter is passed over the hair at a speed of between 0.5 cm / s and 50 cm / s. The hair may or may not be combed before using the brush.

[0106] The embodiments of Figures 7 to 12 differ from the previous embodiment in the shape and positioning of the steam outlet zone 30.

[0107] Alternatively, as illustrated in particular in [Fig.7], the brush may comprise a single steam outlet 30 extending over substantially the entire length of the steam outlet zone parallel to the rows of teeth. Preferably, this steam outlet defines an opening greater than or equal to 5 mm2.

[0108] The steam outlet zone can be positioned differently on the brush. It can be upstream of a combing zone as illustrated in [Fig.8], or downstream of the latter relative to the direction of movement of the brush on the hair, as illustrated in [Fig.9].

[0109] The device may comprise a plurality of steam outlet zones, in particular two steam outlet zones, separated from each other by teeth 23, as illustrated in FIGS. 10 and 13.

[0110] The two steam outlet zones can be positioned on the periphery of the treatment surface 21, on either side of a single combing zone, as illustrated in [Fig. 13].

[0111] The or at least one of the steam outlet zones may comprise a steam containment groove 50 into which the steam outlet(s) open, as illustrated in [Fig.l 1].

[0112] The steam outlet zone(s) may extend over only a portion of the length of the combing heating zone, as illustrated in [Fig. 12].

[0113] In the example of [Fig. 14], the teeth 23 are inclined relative to the treatment surface 21 by an angle α of between 45° and 90°. The steam outlet(s) 30 may emit steam at an angle other than 90° relative to the treatment surface 21, in particular of between 45° and 90°, for example substantially equal to the angle α of the teeth 23.

[0114] In the variant of figures 15 and 16, the brush comprises at least one additional treatment.

[0115] The additional treatment may be a row of teeth made of a non-heat-conducting material forming a comb 60, at a temperature less than or equal to 50°C during operation of the brush. Preferably, the comb 60 is arranged upstream of the steam outlet(s) 30.

[0116] The additional treatment may be a member for applying a cosmetic product 65.

[0117] The cosmetic product application member 65 is arranged so as to come into contact with the hair. The cosmetic product application member 65 is preferably porous, elastically compressible, and may advantageously be made of an open-cell cellular material, such as PE (polyethylene) foam for example. The application member may be made of any material capable of releasing or diffusing the cosmetic product.

[0118] The application member may be removable.

[0119] The brush may include a reservoir of cosmetic product, not shown.

[0120] Preferably, the cosmetic product is in a fluid state at the time of use.

[0121] The cosmetic product reservoir can be equipped with an electrical resistance, for example for example, a thin screen-printed resistor, allowing the temperature of its contents to be raised to 40-50°C for example in order to liquefy it.

[0122] Preferably, the cosmetic product is a hair shaping composition, in particular a hair curling or setting composition and, preferably, a hair straightening or smoothing composition.

[0123] The cosmetic product may contain one or more active agents chosen from reducing agents and in particular thiols, oxidizing agents and in particular hydrogen peroxide or persalts such as persulfates, coloring agents such as pigments, direct dyes or oxidation dyes, non-durable shaping agents such as styling polymers, preferably anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic, conditioning agents such as silicones, mineral or vegetable oils, vegetable waxes, cationic surfactants and cationic polymers, alkaline agents or acids.

[0124] Even more preferably, the cosmetic product contains one or more agents chosen from oxidizing agents, reducing agents or alkaline agents of the hydroxide type.

[0125] In the example of [Fig. 17], the brush comprises teeth made of a heat-conducting material 23a and longer teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting 23b. The teeth 23a and 23b may alternate within the same row as illustrated in [Fig. 17]. Alternatively, the brush comprises, perpendicular to the main axis X, alternating rows of teeth made of a heat-conducting material 23a and rows of teeth made of a material that is not very heat-conducting 23b.

[0126] Numerous modifications can be made to the examples which have just been described, without departing from the scope of the present invention.

[0127] For example, the brush may not have a handle, the back of the brush allowing the brush to be gripped.

[0128] Some teeth of the brush may be made of a material that is not very heat conductive, in particular elastomer or polymer.

[0129] The brush may be devoid of heating means, the teeth not being heated in this case.

[0130] At least a portion of the teeth may be made of a material that is not very heat conductive, in particular an elastomer or polymer.

[0131] The brush may include several different additional treatments, whether or not separate from each other.

[0132] The steam outlet zone may comprise teeth heated by the heating means or not.

[0133] The steam outlets extend from the treatment surface but could extend from protrusions, including teeth, of the treatment surface.
