Title of the invention: Exhaust duct comprising a means for retaining a screen
[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle exhaust duct having a substantially longitudinal direction and comprising a silencer device consisting of a closed volume arranged around the duct, the silencer having a peripheral wall and end walls assembled together by a crimping zone forming a bead on the surface of the peripheral wall, the silencer being further provided with a layer of thermal insulation disposed on the peripheral wall and covered by a peripheral screen.
[0002] As described in Figures 1 and 2, an exhaust duct 10 according to the prior art comprises a silencer 12 formed by a closed volume arranged around the duct 10. The silencer has a peripheral wall 14 and end walls 16 crimped onto the peripheral wall. The edge 18 of each peripheral wall 14 has a double fold into which the end edge 20 of the peripheral wall 14 is crimped. The crimped area 22 thus formed then creates a peripheral ridge on the end edge 20 of the peripheral wall 14.

A motor vehicle exhaust duct (100) having a substantially longitudinal direction and comprising a silencer device (120) consisting of a closed volume arranged around the duct (100), the silencer (120) having a peripheral wall (140) and end walls (160) joined together by a crimping zone forming a bead on the surface of the peripheral wall (140), the silencer (120) further being provided with a layer of thermal insulation (240) disposed on the peripheral wall (140) and covered by a peripheral screen (260), the screen (260) comprising a means of immobilizing (300) the screen (260) in a longitudinal direction, characterized in that. the immobilization means (300) consists of a tab (302) formed on an end edge (280) of the screen (260) and bearing against the crimping area (220) of the peripheral wall (140) of the silencer (120).
2. Exhaust duct (100) according to claim 1, characterized in that the tab (302) is formed by at least one cutout made in the end edge (280) of the screen (260).

Exhaust duct (100) according to claim 2, characterized in that the cut is formed by two cutting lines (304) extending perpendicularly from the end edge (280) of the screen (260), the two cutting lines (304) being connected to each other by a fold line (306), so that the immobilizing means (300) is formed by the folding, in the direction of the peripheral wall (140), of the tab (302) at the level of the fold line (306).
4. Exhaust duct (100) according to claim 2 or 3, characterized in that the end edge (280) has several tabs (302).
5. Exhaust duct (100) according to claim 1, characterized in that at least one immobilizing means (300) is provided on each end edge (280) of the screen (260).

A heat shield (260) for covering a muffler (120) of a motor vehicle exhaust duct (100), characterized in that at least one of its end edges (280) has a cutout formed by two cut lines (304) extending perpendicularly from the end edge (280) of the shield (260), the two cut lines (304) being connected to each other by a fold line (306), so that the immobilization means (300) is formed by a folded tab (302), on the side of a concave face of the screen (260), at the level of the fold line (306).
