Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Cosmetic analysis method by application of stretched patch
[0001] The present invention relates to methods for cosmetic analysis of the skin.
[0002] The present invention relates in particular to methods of cosmetic analysis by placing stretched patches on areas to be analyzed and / or treated.
[0003] By “cosmetic product” is meant a product as defined in Council Directive 93 / 35 / EEC of 14 June 1993.
[0004] When the skin has positive or negative reliefs, also called bumps or hollows, such as spots, scars or wrinkles, the aesthetics of the skin can be limited.
[0005] Cosmetic solutions for the skin are generally limited to makeup or patches that only mask skin color defects while leaving the relief visible.
[0006] Solutions have been considered to reduce positive reliefs. For example, it has been considered to place curved pieces towards the inside of the skin in order to push back positive reliefs and thus reduce their height.
[0007] In addition, cosmetic treatments such as creams constitute a so-called curative approach to the problem of reducing these reliefs.
[0008] Conversely, it is also interesting to develop a preventive approach to these reliefs in order to detect and / or treat the relief areas before or at the start of their appearance.
[0009] Part of the preventive approach consists, for example, of protecting oneself from climatic factors such as ultraviolet rays, dryness, cold or heat. For example, the use of sunscreen is effective when one does not want to obtain a pronounced tan.
[0010] However, other factors such as dust or diet are less easy to identify and it is much more difficult to prevent skin changes due to these factors.
[0011] In particular, the difficulty arises from the fact that it is difficult to apply products almost regularly to the entire skin or to an area of the skin.
[0012] Additionally, an effective product is one that is concentrated in active ingredient, but this sometimes causes discomfort if applied to large areas. Its price is also generally quite high. The user then reduces the frequency of use, the final effect being reduced accordingly.
[0013] Finally, it is notable that the skin evolves in a heterogeneous manner and a global treatment prevention does not guarantee an overall result of the same nature, and may even contribute to accentuating the heterogeneous nature of the skin.
[0014] Tools for analysis or preventive treatment of the skin exist but are expensive and require the help of a dermatologist or a specialist.
[0015] The present invention therefore aims to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by proposing a method for applying stretched patches to the skin in order to analyze the skin preventively. Additionally, the present invention aims to reduce the positive reliefs appearing on the skin.
[0016] The subject of the present invention is a cosmetic analysis method comprising the following steps: - application of at least one patch stretched uniformly outwards over at least one area of the skin to be analyzed; and - analysis by measuring the mechanical resistance of at least one area to be analyzed after the patch application step.
[0017] Indeed, it has surprisingly been observed that a patch thus stretched and stuck to the skin will exert forces directed towards the centre of the patch and that the skin reacts by hollowing inwards and not by bulging, reducing or even cancelling out the positive relief on which the patch is positioned.
[0018] In addition, a skin area can be analyzed by studying the reaction and mechanical resistance of the skin. "Mechanical resistance of the skin" means its ability to mechanically resist the effect of the patch. This ability can be measured, non-exhaustively, by studying the shrinkage of the diameter of a circular area of skin, or by studying an apparent diameter shrinking in a non-homogeneous manner, for example when a circular area of skin becomes oval, or by studying the shrinkage and / or folds and / or hollowing of the diameter of a circular area of skin.
[0019] The skin can be studied over time or in relation to other areas. Finally, a patch coated with cosmetic treatment allows certain areas to be treated in a targeted manner with a thin, invisible patch that adapts to the skin's movements.
[0020] In one embodiment, the step of analyzing by measuring the mechanical resistance of the at least one zone to be analyzed is carried out by measuring the depth of the digging of the zone after the step of applying the patch.
[0021] In one embodiment, the step of analyzing by measuring the mechanical resistance of the at least one zone to be analyzed is carried out by measuring the retraction diameter of the patch after the step of applying the patch.
[0022] Advantageously, the step of analysis by measuring the mechanical resistance of the at least one zone to be analyzed is carried out using markings of the zone and / or the patch with points or lines and / or using natural markers.
[0023] Advantageously, the step of analysis by measuring the mechanical resistance of the at least one zone to be analyzed is carried out by taking into consideration information concerning the climate and / or cosmetic treatments.
[0024] In one embodiment, the method further comprises the following steps: - identification of at least one potential evolution zone among the at least one analyzed zone; - determination of a cosmetic treatment to be applied to at least one potential development zone based on the mechanical resistance measurements carried out in the analysis stage; and - application of a cosmetic treatment product to at least one potential area of development.
[0025] Advantageously, the steps of the method are repeated over time in order to create a follow-up of the cosmetic analysis.
[0026] In one embodiment, in the application step at least two stretched patches are applied to at least two distinct areas of the skin to be analyzed, in the analysis step the mechanical resistance of the at least two areas to be analyzed is measured, and the step of identifying at least one potential evolution area is carried out by comparison between at least two analyzed areas.
[0027] Advantageously, in the application step, at least two stretched patches are applied to at least two distinct areas of the skin to be analyzed, one area of which is treated with a first cosmetic treatment product, and another area of which is treated with a second cosmetic treatment product different from the first cosmetic product, or with no cosmetic treatment product, and in the step of determining a cosmetic treatment to be applied, it is determined which of the first, the second or no cosmetic treatment product is most suitable for being applied to the areas of the skin analyzed.
[0028] Advantageously, the patch used comprises and / or is coated with cosmetic active ingredients.
[0029] In a particular embodiment, the step of applying a patch comprises the following steps: - placing a film on the mounting surface of the pusher of a device for stretching a patch, the device comprising a patch applicator provided with a support, a pusher comprising a cavity and a mounting surface for the patch to be stretched, and a base comprising a protuberance which is provided with a surface for receiving the support of the applicator and which can be fitted into the cavity of the pusher so that, when the patch to be stretched is placed on the mounting surface of the pusher and said pusher and the base are fitted together, said patch is stretched and comes to bear against the support of the applicator; - placing the applicator support on the receiving surface of the device base; - placing the film on the applicator support and simultaneously carrying out the step of stretching the patch formed by the part of the film resting on the applicator support by the interlocking of the base and the pusher of the device; - separation of the pusher and the base; - removal of the applicator from the pusher, and - application of the stretched patch on the area to be analyzed.
[0030] Other aims, characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the following description, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:

[0037] In order to carry out a cosmetic skin analysis method as defined above, it is proposed to use a stretchable film to form a patch, for example made of a polymeric material. The material must have elastic properties so as to be able to exert a restoring force in the opposite direction to that exerted to stretch it. Alternatively or in combination, the patch can be sized so as to have this elastic character. The material used is thin, flexible, may have a tint, a print or be translucent for the sake of invisibility, even when the skin is in motion. In addition, it may include a layer of cosmetic product so that a cosmetic active ingredient acts on the skin when the patch is applied. An unstretched patch is for example a square with sides of 45 to 100 millimeters, preferably about 50 millimeters.Alternatively, the unstretched patch in film form may have other shapes, for example other polygonal shapes, such as rectangular, triangular, etc., or for example circular, oval, elliptical, etc.
[0038] For proper use of the patch, it must be stretched prior to application to the skin. Once applied, the patch tends to return to its original shape by exerting forces on the skin directed towards the center of the patch, the skin reacting by hollowing out.
[0039] The following description relates to a method of preventive cosmetic analysis using such a stretched patch and the different steps of which are shown in [Fig. 1].
[0040] Firstly, step A of applying at least one stretched patch to at least one area of the skin that is to be analyzed is carried out.
[0041] An area to be analyzed is, for example, an area of the face for which we wish to know the short or medium term evolution of the aesthetics of the skin. For example, it is useful to be able to predict the appearance of spots. For this, patches can be distributed in different places on the face.
[0042] Step A of application is carried out for example using a device for stretching a patch. A schematic example of the embodiment of such a device is illustrated in Figures 2 and 3 in an open position. The device is shown in a position assumed to be vertical. Alternatively, it is possible without departing from the scope of the invention to use another type of device than that described below.
[0043] The device 1 comprises an applicator 2 of the patch to be stretched from a film 3 which is provided with a support 4, and a pusher 5 comprising an interior cavity 6 and a mounting surface 7 of the film 3.
[0044] The device 1 also comprises a base 8 comprising a protuberance 9 which is provided with a receiving surface 10 of the support 4 of the applicator and which is nestable in the cavity 6 of the pusher so that, when the film 3, from which the patch to be stretched is formed, is placed on the mounting surface 7 of the pusher and said pusher 5 and the base 8 are nested, the outer surface of said patch is stretched radially in a uniform manner and comes to bear against the support 4 of the applicator. The radial direction of stretching of the patch is considered with reference to the axial direction of nesting of the pusher 5 and the base 8. The entire outer surface of the patch is stretched radially. A closed position of the device in which the pusher 5 and the base 8 are nested is illustrated in [Fig.4].
[0045] The pusher 5, the support 4 and the base 8 are for example made of a rigid synthetic material or of a metallic material. More precisely, the support 4 can be made of polytetrafluoroethylene, or of polyoxymethylene or even of polyvinyl chloride.
[0046] In the illustrated embodiment, the base 8 comprises a base 11 from which the protuberance 9 extends axially. The base 11 here has a circular shape. Alternatively, it is possible to provide other shapes for the base 11.
[0047] The protuberance 9 is provided at its upper end with the receiving surface 10 of the support 4 of the applicator 2. The receiving surface 10 is flat. In the illustrated embodiment, the receiving surface 10 is circular.
[0048] In the illustrated embodiment, the protuberance 9 comprises a cylindrical portion 12 extending from the base 11, and a conical portion 13 extending the cylindrical portion 12 on the side opposite the base 11 and delimiting the receiving surface. 10 of the support 4 of the applicator.
[0049] In the illustrated embodiment, the support 4 of the applicator 2 is produced in the form of a disc of the same dimension as the receiving surface 10 of the support 4.
[0050] As can be seen in particular in [Fig. 5], the support 4 comprises a first flat face 14 and a second face 15 opposite the first face 14. The first and second faces 14 and 15 delimit the thickness of the support 4. The first face 14 is intended to be in contact with the receiving surface 10 of the base ([Fig. 2]), the second face 15 being intended to receive the stretched patch 3a. The second face 15 may for example be flat or rounded. The support 4 may for example have a diameter of approximately 20 millimeters and a thickness of 1.5 millimeters.
[0051] Referring again to [Fig. 2], in the illustrated embodiment, the support 4 comprises at least one through opening 16. The opening 16 extends through the thickness of the support 4. The opening 16 opens onto the first and second faces of the support. The opening 16 is here centered on the support 4. The opening 16 makes it possible to easily peel off the patch 3a during application. The opening 16 also makes it possible to correctly position the support 4 on the receiving surface 10 of the base when this receiving surface 10 is provided with a pin (not shown) intended to be introduced into the opening 16 of the support 4.
[0052] The pusher 5 is a substantially hollow cylindrical body whose outer surface 17 is intended to be grasped by the user and whose end front face forms the mounting surface 7 of the film 3 from which the cavity 6 extends. In particular, the mounting surface 7 is an annular support for mounting the film 3 on the pusher 5. The pusher 5 comprises an annular skirt 18 delimiting the outer surface 17. The free end front face of the skirt 18 forms the mounting surface 7. The pusher 5 also comprises an upper front wall 19 from which the skirt 18 extends. The skirt 18 of the pusher radially delimits the cavity 6. The front wall 19 axially delimits the cavity 6. The cavity 6 is open axially towards the outside.
[0053] The pusher 5 is provided with an air exhaust orifice 20 provided on the front wall 19 in order to allow the air to escape when the base 8 is fitted with the pusher 5.
[0054] As indicated previously, the stretchable cosmetic film 3 is intended to be placed on the mounting surface 7 of the pusher 5. The mounting surface 7 may for example be non-slip in order to prevent the patch 3a from slipping during its stretching. The film 3 has two opposite faces F1, F2 which delimit its thickness. The face F1 of the film 3 which is intended to form the surface of the patch 3a intended to come into contact with the skin is placed against the mounting surface 7 of the pusher. This face F1 is for example adhesive. Alternatively, the face F1 may not comprise an adhesive layer. In this case, an adhesive may be applied a posteriori directly onto the skin or on the patch 3a just before applying it to the skin. The glue is for example a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The face F2 of the film 3 is intended to be in contact with the receiving surface 10 of the base.
[0055] As illustrated in Figures 5 and 6, in the illustrated embodiment, the applicator 2 further comprises a strapping ring 21 which is intended to be mounted inside a housing 22 of the cavity 6 of the pusher 5. The housing 22 is located at the bottom of the cavity 6. The housing 22 is located at the level of the front wall 19 of the pusher.
[0056] The strapping ring 21 is sized to come and strap the support 4 in the nested position of the pusher 5 and the base 8, the strapping of the support 4 by the strapping ring 21 keeping the stretched patch 3a formed from the film 3 pressing against the support 4 of the applicator 2. When the support 4 is strapped by the ring 21, the latter comes into radial contact against the peripheral outer edge of the support.
[0057] The strapping ring 21 is particularly useful when the properties of the material used for the patch 3a do not allow it to remain stretched on its own and the patch 3a shrinks quickly. In this case, it is indeed necessary to keep the patch 3a stretched before applying it to the skin, or simply for transporting it.
[0058] Conversely, when the properties of the material used for the patch 3a allow it to remain stretched on its own for a few minutes before tending to return to its original shape, the strapping ring 21 is optional.
[0059] The strapping ring 21 may for example be made of aluminum or an aluminum and copper alloy, and its surface is for example obtained by micro-blasting in order to improve the tension retention of the patch 3a.
[0060] The strapping ring 21 may comprise a bordered member for cutting the patch 3a so that when the strapping ring 21 comes to strap the support 4 with the patch 3a, the latter is automatically cut to the size of the strapping ring 21 from the film 3.
[0061] Referring again to [Fig. 1], during step A of applying a patch 3a, different steps are therefore carried out in order to stretch and apply the patch 3a using the device.
[0062] First of all, step B of placing the film 3 on the mounting surface 7 of the pusher 5 of the device is carried out. For example, a square of stretchable film 3 with a side of more than 50 millimeters is prepared, a possible protective layer is removed from the face F1 and the face F1 of the film 3 intended to be in contact with the skin after formation of the patch 3a is applied to the mounting surface 7 of the pusher.
[0063] Then, a step C of placing the support 4 of the applicator 2 on the receiving surface 10 of the base 8 of the device 1 is carried out. If necessary, a second protective layer located on the other face F2 of the film 3 intended to be in contact with the support. Alternatively, the order of steps B and C can be reversed.
[0064] Next, step D of radially stretching the patch 3a and placing the stretched patch 3a against the support 4 of the applicator 2 is carried out. To do this, the base 8 and the pusher 5 of the device are fitted together until the base 11 of the base comes to bear axially against the mounting surface 7 of the pusher. During this step D, the air exhaust orifice 20 on the front face 18 must not be obstructed.
[0065] During this fitting, the part of the film 3 held against the mounting surface 7 of the pusher is deformed by the protuberance 9 of the base. In particular, the pressed part of the film 3 at the level of the support 4 mounted on the protuberance forms the patch 3a intended to be applied to the skin. The outer surface of the patch 3a being formed is stretched radially outwards and uniformly around the entire periphery of this outer surface. The patch 3a is stretched in a single plane.
[0066] Then, the pusher 5 and the base 8 are separated during step E before removing the support 4 from the applicator equipped with the stretched and formed patch 3a from the cavity 6 of the pusher 5 during step F. Before application, the stretched patch 3a has a circular shape.
[0067] Finally, the stretched patch 3a is applied to the area to be analyzed during step G. The application of the patch 3a to the skin using pressure on the support 4.
[0068] As indicated previously, in the illustrated embodiment, the device comprises the strapping ring 21. Thus, the method further comprises a step H of placing the strapping ring 21 of the applicator 2 inside the housing 22 of the cavity of the pusher prior to step B of placing the film 3. During the fitting of the base 8 and the pusher 5 of the device, the patch 3a being formed is stretched and kept pinched between the strapping ring 21 and the support 4. As indicated previously, the strapping of the support 4 by the strapping ring keeps the stretched patch 3 pressing against the support 4 of the applicator 2.
[0069] The method further comprises a step I of automatic cutting of the patch 3a formed after the stretching step D and before the step E of separating the pusher 5 and the base 8. The cutting step I is carried out for example with the edged member (not shown) of the strapping ring 21.
[0070] The application step G is carried out by bringing the support 4 against the area to be analyzed, and / or treated, and by pushing the support 4 to separate it from the strapping ring 21 and release the patch 3a onto the skin.
[0071] Finally, once the patch 3a is in place, it can be pressed, particularly on the edges, in order to ensure its adhesion to the area to be analyzed. The patch 3a then exerts a slight compression of the skin on these edges while the center of the patch 3a exerts a significant pressure on the skin which hollows out.
[0072] Patch 3a thus makes it possible to reduce relief, or to apply cosmetic active ingredients, or even to prevent future skin defects.
[0073] In this exemplary embodiment, the device 1 provides a dual function of stretching the patch and applying this patch.
[0074] Furthermore, it is possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to provide means other than the device 1 for carrying out the plane stretching of the outer surface of the patch in a uniform manner.
[0075] Furthermore, it is still possible to form the stretched patch and offer users the patch in this stretched form. With this solution, users are only required to carry out the step of applying the patch.
[0076] With this solution, to ensure the maintenance of the prestress previously exerted on the patch, the patch is associated with means for maintaining said patch in its stretched position. These means may for example be the support and the strapping ring as described previously, or other means capable of ensuring this function. For example, these means may be a support on which the film is kept stretched by gluing.
[0077] In this latter case of prevention of future skin defects, an analysis step J is then carried out by measuring the mechanical resistance of the skin of the area(s) where a patch 3a has been applied.
[0078] A mechanical resistance analysis is carried out for example by measuring the depth of the excavation of the area where a patch 3a is applied. Alternatively, or in addition, the mechanical resistance analysis is carried out by measuring the retraction diameter of the patch 3a when it is applied or once the patch 3a has been removed, if its retraction diameter is identified by a mark. The mechanical resistance measurements are carried out for example manually using a graduated tool. Alternatively, the measurements can be carried out with an optical sensor such as a camera or a laser profilometer, the desired measurement being deduced from the images acquired by the optical sensor.
[0079] The measurements, in particular the measurement of the depth of the excavation, can be carried out while the patch 3a is still in place. Alternatively, the measurement can be carried out after removal of the patch, the removal being able to be carried out several hours after application.
[0080] To facilitate the measurements, markings can be used and drawn directly on the skin or on the patch. For example, a grid of lines or points makes it easier to see a hollowing of the skin, the grid being deformed due to the deformation of the surface of the skin during the application of the patch 3a. In the case of measurements by optical sensor, an automatic comparison of the size of the grid before and after application is carried out in order to deduce the desired measurement.
[0081] The measurements taken can then be compared to a first pre-established database to allow conclusions to be drawn on the potential evolution of certain areas. Additionally, the measurements taken can be weighted by coefficients dependent on the climate and / or other factors of variation of the measurements. For example, certain cosmetic treatments applied to the skin can be taken into account. The coefficients dependent on the climate and / or other factors of variation of the measurements are coefficients pre-established and stored in the first database.
[0082] After the analysis step J, it is thus possible to carry out a step K of identifying one or more zones of potential evolution among the zone or zones analyzed following the application of a patch 3a. These are, for example, zones presenting deviations in measurements compared to so-called standard skin measurements. Alternatively, an identified zone corresponds to a skin zone which, compared to other skin zones on which a patch 3a is applied, presents a different mechanical resistance. The zones of potential evolution are therefore identified even before the appearance on the skin of symptomatic reliefs.
[0083] Using a second database linking mechanical resistance measurements to aesthetic conclusions, a system determines during step L a cosmetic treatment to be applied during the following step M. This may be an active ingredient to be ingested or spread on the skin. The active ingredient may also be coated on future patches to be applied, or the patch itself may include such cosmetic active ingredients from the time of its manufacture. In one embodiment, the first and second databases may also be grouped into a single database.
[0084] These steps A to M can be repeated as many times as necessary, in particular over time, in order to create a monitoring of the evolution of the skin. For example, a patch 3a is applied to the same area of skin every day and measurements of its mechanical resistance are taken every day over several months in order to refine the analysis and monitor the evolution of the skin, as well as the effectiveness of the potential cosmetic product. The method thus makes it possible to adapt the cosmetic product to be applied.
[0085] The invention finally allows a user to make patches at home, apply them and obtain an indication concerning the evolution of his skin and the cosmetic products to apply to remedy future aesthetic defects. A specialist, such as a dermatologist, can also follow the process remotely if necessary.
[0086] In an exemplary implementation, a patch 3a is applied to several places on the cheeks. The patches are provided with crossed lines. A shallower digging depth is then detected on one of the patches than on the other patches. The other patches 3a are removed. Several hours later, a new measurement of the digging depth is carried out on the remaining patch. These measurements are interpreted by a system or by a dermatologist who derives information on the evolution of the skin. If the subsequent digging depth is significantly less than the previous digging depth, the imminent appearance of a pimple, which is not visible at this stage, can be deduced. The area can therefore be treated preventively.
[0087] The operator can carry out the same protocol on the following days.
