Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Applicator for cosmetic composition for the scalp
[0001] The invention relates to a device for applying a cosmetic composition to an individual's scalp, comprising in particular a light source capable of emitting light in a wavelength spectrum between 620 and 625 nm, a motor for creating microvibrations, a reservoir for a cosmetic composition, and teeth for releasing said cosmetic composition. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a cosmetic method for treating an individual's scalp implemented by the device according to the invention, and a kit comprising said device and a cosmetic composition.
[0002] The field of the invention relates in particular to devices and methods enabling the non-therapeutic care of an individual's scalp. Previous Art
[0003] Nowadays, a healthy-looking scalp and hair are signs of good health and contribute to an attractive appearance for both women and men.
[0004] Hair can be damaged by various environmental sources and by chemical treatments. It protects the scalp from sunburn and mechanical damage, and ensures thermoregulation (Robbins CR 2012 - Chemical and Physical Behavior of Human Hair, 4th ed. Springer-Verlag: Heidelberg, Germany).
[0005] Hair disorders are primarily caused by variations in hair follicle density, as well as by changes in hair size and / or growth cycles. These disorders have a dramatic impact on quality of life and emotional well-being (Cash TF 1999 - Br. J. Dermatol. 141: 398-405; Schmidt S. et al. 2001- Br. J. Dermatol. 144: 1038-1043). This can result in low self-esteem and a poor body image.
[0006] In particular, baldness is a societal problem for most people, men or women, regardless of age. It is also often accompanied by mental distress and difficult-to-bear feelings, such as a lack of attractiveness and the aging process. This syndrome is complex, depends on many factors, and, moreover, the psychological complications are significant.
[0007] Hair loss is a natural process, where each hair follicle must be recycled to produce new hair. Unnatural hair loss is primarily due to a hormonal imbalance of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), to a inadequate blood flow to the head or hair roots, and a decrease in oxygen and nutrients in the scalp.
[0008] Cosmetic solutions currently on the market are often disappointing. Indeed, they are inconvenient, unpleasant, and rarely effective, which leads to users abandoning the treatment in the vast majority of cases.
[0009] The scalp care market is evolving very rapidly and consumers are always demanding new products to maintain the good health of their scalp, which is put to the test by the causes mentioned above, and there therefore remains a need for new cosmetic solutions that are simple and pleasant for the user in order to promote hair renewal.
[0010] To resolve these problems, the Applicant has developed a device that combines light therapy, microvibrations and the application of a cosmetic composition to promote hair renewal. Description of the invention

[0065] The term "teeth" refers to the parallel tines that conventionally make up a hair comb. These teeth can vary in size, length, and thickness, and are usually used to tidy hair and body hair. In this case, within the scope of the invention, these teeth also allow for the release of a cosmetic composition, due to their hollow cylindrical shape connected to a reservoir.
[0066] By "micro-vibrations", the present invention refers to vibrations having a frequency of 10,000 rpm / minute, or approximately 167 Hz.
[0067] “Hair renewal” is understood to mean the non-therapeutic prevention and / or reduction of hair loss and baldness, thereby promoting natural hair regeneration. This hair treatment allows for a quick and natural return to visibly thicker hair.
[0068] According to the invention, "micro-diffusion" means that the cosmetic composition is diffused precisely and progressively by the teeth of the device according to the invention for perfect impregnation of the scalp, where it is needed.
[0069] For the purposes of this invention, "cosmetically acceptable" means something that is useful in the preparation of a cosmetic composition, that is generally safe, non-toxic and neither biologically nor otherwise undesirable, and that is acceptable for cosmetic use, in particular by topical application to the skin.
[0070] In this description, "approximately" means that the value in question may be 10% lower or higher, in particular 5%, in particular 2%, more particularly 1%, than the value indicated.
[0071] For the purposes of this invention, "non-therapeutic" means a cosmetic application not intended to treat a patient. In fact, the cosmetic composition according to the invention does not act as a drug for the treatment of baldness, also known as alopecia, but rather improves the superficial visual appearance of the scalp.
[0072] According to the invention, "concomitant" means that the different stages of the process according to the invention are carried out and that the compositions are administered at the same time or up to the same day or a few days later.
[0073] According to the invention, "application device" means a device that allows a cosmetic composition to be administered topically to a targeted area of the skin or scalp, and thus allows its proper application.
[0074] According to the invention, "scalp" means the skin covering the skull on which the hair grows. In the context of the invention, the scalp includes the hair.
[0075] The term "light source" means a means of emitting light at a specific wavelength. This means may, for example, be a light-emitting diode.
[0076] The term "light-emitting diodes" or "LEDs" refers to electronic components that emit low-frequency light when an electric current passes through them. They emit light that is considered "cold" because it does not produce heat. This characteristic is due to the absence of resistance, which is present in other light bulbs. LEDs fall under the category of LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy). They have the advantage of being inexpensive compared to lasers or flash lamps and, due to their lower light intensity, do not present a risk of burns or other skin injuries if exposure is not performed correctly. Light-emitting diodes emit light in a spectrum that extends from the visible to the infrared.
[0077] By "wavelength spectrum between 620 and 625 nm, preferably 625 nm" is meant light corresponding to red light.
[0078] According to the invention, "reservoir" means a reservoir for receiving and storing the cosmetic composition in the device according to the invention.
[0079] By "lid" is meant a means of closing the reservoir so that the cosmetic composition cannot escape from the reservoir through the point of entry of the composition.
[0080] By "a switch allowing the opening of the orifices of said teeth (3)" is understood a means allowing the opening of holes present on said teeth, preferably made of metal, so that the cosmetic composition in liquid form can be released from said reservoir towards the teeth and towards the scalp of the user.
[0081] By “level indicator” is meant a visual means of knowing the quantity of cosmetic composition remaining in the device according to the invention.
[0082] By "switch enabling the device to be turned on or off" is understood according to the invention a means of enabling the device according to the invention as a whole to be turned on and off.
[0083] By "protective cover for the teeth of the application device" is meant a means of covering the teeth of the device according to the invention so that they are no longer visible and accessible.
[0084] By "step of exposure to a light source" is understood that the targeted area of skin, in this case the scalp, is directly exposed to the desired light radiation, by bringing the light source as close as possible to said targeted area of skin.
[0085] By "determined period" is meant a duration of time fixed by the device or the user, during which the different stages of the process are carried out by the device according to the invention. Detailed description of the invention
[0086] According to one embodiment of the invention, the application device (1) according to the invention is switched on by the user using a switch (9) of the device visible in particular in figures 1 to 3.
[0087] The user can remove the protective cover from the teeth of the device (10), visible in figures 2 and 3, in order to make the teeth (3, 4) accessible.
[0088] Next, the user places the application device (1) on the scalp, as illustrated in [Fig.5], and presses the liquid outlet switch (6), while moderately gliding it over the scalp, including brushing the hair, so that the liquid is applied evenly, for example on sparse areas of the scalp.
[0089] In parallel, the light sources (2) visible on [Fig.2] expose the scalp to red lights, and the device (1) vibrates thanks to the motor included, in order to produce microvibrations for the scalp.
[0090] The motor producing the microvibrations is not visible in the figures because it is positioned inside the device (1) according to the invention.
[0091] Once the usage cycle, preferably of 3 minutes, has ended, the user can press the switch (9) of the device to turn it off.
[0092] In order to protect the teeth (3, 4), the user can close the cover (10) as seen in figures 2 and 3.
[0093] According to one embodiment, in order to fill the device (1) according to the invention, the user removes the cover (7) of the reservoir (5), visible in particular in Figures 1 to 3.
[0094] As illustrated in [Fig.4], the user can use a pipette (12) (or alternatively introduce directly from the neck of the composition container) to introduce the cosmetic composition (13) into the reservoir (5).
[0095] Once the composition (13) has been introduced, the user aligns the lid (7) with the mouth of the reservoir (5) and presses to close the reservoir (5).
[0096] The user can constantly monitor the level of cosmetic composition (13) remaining in the reservoir using the level indicator (8), as seen in figures 1 to 4.
[0097] According to one embodiment, when the user wants to clean the device (1) according to the invention, the latter uses the same filling process described above, but replacing the composition (13) with water or cleaning solution.
[0098] In addition, the user can leave the lid (7) of the tank (5) open and gently shake the device in order to rinse all the walls of the tank (5).
[0099] Regarding the teeth (3, 4), these can be cleaned using water or cleaning solution applied directly to them.
[0100] The device (1) according to the invention can, according to one embodiment, be charged using a USB port (11) visible on the [Fig.3], in order to charge the battery included in the body of the device (1). Examples
[0101] Example 1: Testing the effectiveness of the device and method according to the invention:
[0102] The method according to the invention is used for 4 months, morning and evening, using the device according to the invention.
[0103] 30 subjects with sparse patches of hair on the scalp receive the process according to the invention with the cosmetic composition according to the invention, and 30 similar subjects receive the process according to the invention with a placebo composition.
[0104] The method comprises applying the following concurrent steps for 3 minutes using the device according to the invention: • an exposure step to a light source (2) with a wavelength spectrum of 625 nm, at a light intensity of 150 mcd; • a step of exposing said area of skin to be treated to microvibrations; • a micro-diffusion release step of the cosmetic composition (13) to promote hair renewal for the 30 subjects receiving it, and the placebo composition for the others
[0105] The application of these steps and of the composition is carried out by passing over the scalp and brushing the hair using the device according to the invention, in particular on the sparse areas.
[0106] Results
[0107] The results obtained for the two groups demonstrate superior efficacy for the group that received the composition to promote hair renewal according to the invention.
[0108] Indeed, hair density is increased, hair loss is reduced, and hair growth is increased. These measurements are carried out by trichogram analysis. A visual illustration of this improvement related to the composition applied according to the process of the invention using the device according to the invention is found in [Fig. 6], where increased density is visible in Figure 6B, which is a photograph of an individual undergoing the process according to the invention, compared to Figure 6A, which dates from before the application of the process according to the invention.
