AI Technical Summary
Existing trash can lids generate noisy impacts during opening and closing maneuvers due to uncontrolled falls, which existing damping solutions like metal springs and rubber blocks are inadequate in terms of cost and durability.
A silent tilting mechanism with longitudinal ribs on the handle's inner surface and plugs in the handle's end holes that create friction to slow down the lid's fall, eliminating the need for shock absorbers and buffers.
Reduces noise pollution by controlling the lid's fall speed, simplifying assembly and reducing costs while maintaining functionality.
Abstract
Description
Title of invention: Silent tilting mechanism for trash can lids Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a silent tilting mechanism for dustbin lids, the obvious objective of which is to reduce the speed of fall of the lid, by providing a controlled fall, in order to avoid the annoying noises generated by this type of lid when it falls uncontrolled, either during opening maneuvers, during which the lid hits the rear wall of the body of the dustbin, or during closing maneuvers, during which the lid hits the edge of the dustbin.
[0002] The invention therefore falls within the field of urban waste collection bins. Technological background
[0003] In the aforementioned type of bin, during the manoeuvres for depositing waste inside the bin as well as during the subsequent emptying of the bin onto a collection vehicle, the lid often suddenly hits the edge of the body, which gives rise to a very noisy manoeuvre, with considerable noise pollution, the effects of which are increased when the manoeuvre is carried out in the silence of the night.
[0004] In an attempt to overcome this problem, the lids of this type of bin are sometimes equipped with a damping element, in some cases metal springs and in others a rubber block, solutions which are not very satisfactory, due to the greater or lesser structural complexity of the damping device, with the resulting negative repercussions in terms of cost, or due to the low durability of these elements. Summary of the invention
[0005] The silent tilting mechanism recommended for dustbin lids solves the above-mentioned problem quite satisfactorily, based on a simple but very effective solution.
[0006] To this end, and starting from the conventional structure of this type of bin, the lid of which is hinged to the handle for moving the bin, which has a cylindrical tubular configuration, the main characteristics of the invention concern the fact that a series of longitudinal ribs of low height are arranged on the inner surface of the handle, acting as an axis.
[0007] The cover is also securely attached to plugs which are pressed under pressure in the end holes of the handle, so that the aforementioned ribs constitute friction elements which oppose the rotation of the caps and therefore slow down the fall of the lid, both forward and backward.
[0008] This avoids the use of shock absorbers, rubber buffers and the like, reducing the cost of obtaining the bins and simplifying their assembly, all with a closing system that considerably reduces the noise pollution caused by opening and closing the lid of this type of bin. Brief description of the figures
[0009] To complete the description which will be given subsequently, and in order to allow a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, in accordance with an example chosen for its practical implementation, a series of plans is attached, within the framework of said description, and the following elements are represented therein, for informational and non-exhaustive purposes:
[0010] [Fig.l] shows a perspective view of an urban waste bin comprising a silent tilting mechanism for its lid, all produced in accordance with the subject of the present invention.
[0011] [Fig.2] shows a perspective view of the bin at its hinges.
[0012] [Fig.3] shows a detailed view of the internal ribs of the handle of the garbage can.
[0013] [Fig.4] shows a detail in profile and in section of the bin at the level of the mechanism of the invention. Description of the embodiments
[0014] In view of the figures shown, it can be seen that the mechanism of the invention is intended to be used in urban waste bins of the type consisting of a main body (1) for collecting waste, provided with wheels (2) for its movement by means of a rear handle (3) which is connected to the main body at its edge by a series of gussets (4), the rear handle (3) having a cylindrical tubular configuration, on which a tilting cover (5) is articulated by means of two rear arms (6).
[0015] According to the invention, and as can be seen in Figures 2 and 3, the lateral ends of the rear handle (3) terminate in orifices (7) into which a plug (8) is intended to be pushed under pressure and which comprises fixed coupling means (9) to the arms (6) of the cover (5).
[0016] This means that when the cover is tilted, it is the plugs (8) which rotate inside the holes (7), because the cover is fixed to these plugs.
[0017] In order to slow down this rotation, a certain number of longitudinal ribs (10) are provided on the inner surface of the orifices (7) which, in the example chosen, have a triangular cross-section, although other configurations may be adopted without affecting the essence of the invention.
[0018] In any case, and as can be seen in [Fig.4], a small circumferential clearance, less than twice the height of the longitudinal ribs (10), will be defined between the orifice (7) and the cap (8), so that the latter determine friction elements which slow down the tilting maneuvers of the lid (5), both when opening and closing, without preventing this movement, but, as has just been said, slowing it down sufficiently so that the lid cannot forcefully hit the edge of the bin when closing it, or its rear vertical wall when opening it, thus avoiding annoying noises.
