Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Seat for a motor vehicle TECHNICAL FIELD AND PRIOR ART
[0001] The present application relates to a seat for a motor vehicle.
[0002] A seat for a motor vehicle usually comprises a frame, a filling composed of various cushions or mattresses, for example foam cushions or spring cushions, and a covering which covers the filling and the frame, which covering comprises in particular a cover, for example a textile cover or a leather cover depending on the desired aesthetic appearance. FR3089167A1 provides an example of a seat for a motor vehicle. This example illustrates the extent to which known motor vehicle seats are complex devices, composed of numerous parts, which are expensive to manufacture.
[0003] The present invention relates to a seat more particularly adapted and intended for golf carts (such as golf carts) and cars without a license authorized to drive on the road network except motorways. Cars without a license are four-wheeled mopeds which obey certain regulatory limitations. Thus, for example, in France, a car without a license can be equipped with a thermal (diesel) or electric engine limited to 6 kW, and offer a number of seats limited to 2 people, an unladen mass limited to 425 kg and a maximum speed limited to 45 km / h.
[0004] These vehicles offer a practical, low-cost travel solution that is compatible with the greenhouse gas reduction objectives imposed by climate change.
[0005] The seat according to the invention can, however, also be installed in a “conventional” car, which requires a driving license.
[0006] The increasing integration of electronic systems in vehicles requires reducing the weight of other equipment. In addition, it is desirable to be able to offer less expensive vehicles to be accessible to the greatest number of people, lighter to have lower energy consumption, more virtuous in ecological terms, that is to say not only less energy consuming but also less material consuming and less waste generating. Statement of the invention
[0007] In this context, the invention aims to propose a lighter, less expensive and easier to produce motor vehicle seat, more ecological, but without sacrificing safety and offering satisfactory comfort (i.e. comfort comparable to the seats which previously equipped cars without a license, and sufficient so that the seat according to the invention can also equip a “classic” entry-level or even a “classic” vehicle). mid-range).
[0008] To do this, the invention proposes a motor vehicle seat having a seat and a backrest, the seat comprising:
[0009] - a peripheral frame, capable of supporting the presence of a person on the seat and configured to allow the seat to be anchored in a motor vehicle, and
[0010] - a textile cover.
[0011] The seat according to the invention is characterized in that:
[0012] - the textile cover directly covers the peripheral frame, the seat being without shell and cushion or mattress (except for a possible headrest cushion as described below),
[0013] - the textile cover is fixed to the peripheral frame only using elements additional non-point fixings, integrated respectively into the frame and the textile cover.
[0014] Thus, the seat according to the invention is devoid of cushions or mattresses (with the exception of a possible headrest cushion); it is in particular devoid of a foam cushion or spring cushion at the seat. It is also devoid of rigid shells. It may also be devoid of frame elements in central areas of the seat and the backrest, the only essential frame being peripheral.
[0015] This minimalism is contrary to the habits of car seat designers and to the tendency towards over-equipment which exists in the automotive sector and which notably pushes towards designing ever more complex and expensive seats, for example by integrating various devices into the seats (heating or cooling element, motorized and electronic adjustment, to name but a few).
[0016] Due to this minimalism, the seat according to the invention is particularly light and inexpensive, but nevertheless sufficiently comfortable for use in a motor vehicle, as well as complying with current safety standards provided that the materials used for the peripheral frame are appropriately chosen from known materials, without it being necessary to demonstrate inventive activity to do so.
[0017] Furthermore, the complementary non-point fixing elements according to the invention integrated respectively in the cover and the frame allow the cover to be mounted easily and quickly on the frame with the desired tension. These elements not being point elements, they make it possible to avoid any incipient breakage of the fibers of the textile cover and to distribute the tension forces undergone by said cover. This also contributes to extending the life of the cover and to obtaining a seat whose cover does not stretch or only slightly over time, which makes the seat compatible with its use in a motor vehicle, in accordance with the R17 regulation in force in France.
[0018] In other words, no point fixing element (whether independent or integrated into the cover or the frame), nor any independent element (whether point or not), is provided to fix the textile cover on the peripheral frame. Thus the method of mounting the cover on the frame does not require any screws, snap fasteners or staples or the like. The method of assembling the cover and the frame is therefore particularly simple and quick to carry out, as will be better understood later.
[0019] Note that, throughout the description, the expression “longitudinal direction of the seat” designates the horizontal direction which, when the seat is installed in a vehicle, corresponds to the roll axis (rear-front axis) of the vehicle. Furthermore, “transverse direction” means the horizontal direction which is orthogonal to this longitudinal direction, and which corresponds to the pitch axis of the vehicle (parallel to the axles of the vehicle) when the seat is installed in a vehicle
[0020] Optionally and advantageously, the non-point fixing elements comprise:
[0021] - one or more rods, called attachment rods, provided in the peripheral frame And,
[0022] - for each of said hanging rods, a rod, hereinafter called a rod of fixing, sewn, welded or stapled along an edge of the textile cover, each of said fixing rods being provided with a groove bordered by an elastic lip, which groove is configured to receive said attachment rod by clipping.
[0023] In possible embodiments of the invention:
[0024] - the peripheral frame comprises
[0025] - a first frame called the seat frame, which corresponds to the seat of the seat and which comprises a front transverse bar and two substantially parallel lateral bars, called lateral seat bars,
[0026] - a second frame called the backrest frame, which corresponds to the backrest of the seat and which comprises an upper crossbar and two other substantially parallel side bars, called backrest side bars;
[0027] - the textile cover comprises a first portion, called the seat portion, which covers the seat frame of the peripheral frame, and a second portion, called the backrest portion, which covers the backrest frame of the peripheral frame.
[0028] In possible embodiments of the invention:
[0029] - the backrest portion of the textile cover has a front face, a rear face, a closed upper end and an open lower end, as well as a side opening provided with a zipper and slider (commonly called Eclair® closure); preferably, the side opening extends to the open lower end of the backrest portion; in a possible variant, said rear face can be replaced by one or, preferably, two (or more) straps at the rear, in which case the back portion is devoid of a zipper and slider;
[0030] - the seat portion of the textile cover is generally rectangular and has a rear transverse edge, two side edges and one front transverse edge, the lower end of the front face of the backrest portion being sewn onto the seat portion of the cover near the rear transverse edge of said seat portion,
[0031] - the peripheral frame comprises three attachment rods, namely two rods lateral hooks extending in the longitudinal direction under the seat frame of the frame on each side of the seat, and a rear transverse hook rod extending in the transverse direction under the seat frame at the rear of the seat;
[0032] - the side edges of the seat portion of the textile cover each incorporate a fixing rod configured to receive by clipping one of said lateral attachment rods, and the rear transverse edge of the seat portion of the textile cover incorporates a fixing rod configured to receive by clipping said rear transverse attachment rod.
[0033] Optionally and advantageously, the seat portion of the cover further comprises a front cuff along its front transverse edge, which front cuff envelops a front end (including the front transverse bar) of the seat frame of the peripheral reinforcement.
[0034] Optionally and advantageously, the backrest frame of the armature comprises, in the upward extension of the previously defined backrest side bars, two converging side bars, called headrest side bars and which, with the upper transverse bar, delimit a headrest integrated into the backrest.
[0035] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the seat and back frames of the peripheral frame are essentially made up of rigid, rectilinear or bent tube sections, two successive tube sections among said rigid tube sections being rigidly fixed together by any suitable means such as welding, brazing, gluing, etc. These tube sections preferably have a circular section; alternatively, they could have a polygonal section (square for example) with softened angles. Some of these tube sections have a shorter length and are therefore referred to as "connections" in the detailed description.
[0036] Each of the bars of the previously defined frame can be formed either by a single section of tube or by several sections of tube welded (or fixed by any other suitable means) one after the other. Furthermore, two successive bars, such as, for example, on each side of the seat, the side seat bar and the bar side of the backrest, can be formed by a single section of bent tube, folded at the junction between said bars.
[0037] Advantageously, the various bars or sections of tube of the peripheral frame are at least partially covered with anti-noise sleeves, made of felt or equivalent, designed to limit the noise that may result from the friction of the textile cover against the frame during the movements of a user present on the seat.
[0038] In possible embodiments of the invention, the peripheral frame comprises a lower part which, when the seat is installed in a vehicle, makes the connection with a floor of the vehicle, this part comprising:
[0039] - on each side of the seat, a slide and rail assembly, comprising a suitable rail to be fixed on a floor of the vehicle, and a slide configured to fit onto said rail and slide along it for the purpose of adjustment according to the longitudinal direction of the position of the seat in the vehicle,
[0040] - locking means for locking each of the slides in the rail to which it is associated, and unlocking means to release said locking means and allow the slides to slide relative to the rails,
[0041] - a front base, comprising a lower front crosspiece and two uprights front laterals, each of said front lateral uprights having an upper end fixed to the peripheral frame of the seat and a lower end fixed to the front lower crossbar, the front lower crossbar being fixed to the slides by its ends,
[0042] - a rear base comprising a rear lower crosspiece and two rear side uprights, each of said rear side uprights having an upper end fixed to the peripheral frame of the seat and a lower end fixed to the rear lower crosspiece, the rear lower crosspiece being fixed to the slides by its ends.
[0043] It should be noted that a seat without a slide and rail assembly is also in accordance with the invention; such a non-adjustable seat is, for example, used as a passenger seat. In this case, the frame may comprise legs as previously described, but the crosspieces of these legs are directly fixed to the floor of the vehicle; as a variant, the legs are without crosspieces and their uprights are directly fixed to the floor of the vehicle.
[0044] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, like the backrest and seat frames of the peripheral frame, the front and rear legs are essentially made up of rigid, straight or bent tubes, preferably of circular section, two successive or adjacent tubes among said rigid tubes being rigidly fixed together by any suitable means such as welding, brazing, gluing, etc.
[0045] Note that the textile cover may include an additional portion, called lower portion, which wraps and covers the lower part of the frame (which extends under the seat frame).
[0046] Optionally, the seat further comprises a headrest arranged in the upper part of the peripheral frame covered with the textile cover, which headrest comprises a cushion. It further preferably comprises an elastic strap which extends from one lateral edge of said cushion to the other, surrounding the peripheral frame covered with the textile cover in order to hold the headrest correctly in place.
[0047] Preferably, the headrest further comprises an upper flexible tab (for example made of fabric) by which it is secured to the textile cover, said tab being sewn on the one hand to an upper edge of said cushion and on the other hand to the upper end of the textile cover.
[0048] Alternatively, the cushion is independent of the textile cover. In this case, the aforementioned tab is not present. On the other hand, the headrest may comprise an elastic strap as previously defined. Alternatively, the cushion may have, on its rear face, an upper cuff into which at least an upper part of the frame covered with the textile cover can be inserted.
[0049] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the textile cover is made from materials chosen from synthetic polyester fibers (PE), synthetic polyester fibers coated with PVC, synthetic PVC fibers, a combination of the aforementioned materials or any other material making it possible to obtain a textile whose tensile strength of the seams according to the ISO 13935-2 standard is greater than or equal to 700N and / or the breaking force according to the ISO 1421 standard is greater than or equal to 200 daN and / or the tearing force according to the ISO 13937-2 standard is greater than or equal to 150N.This is only a non-limiting example, other types of textile (in particular fabrics made from natural fibers, or fabrics having a seam tensile strength and / or a breaking strength and / or a tear strength outside the above-mentioned ranges) may be used provided that the chosen textile is capable of supporting the presence of a person on the seat.
[0050] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the peripheral reinforcement is made of a material chosen from steels.
[0051] The invention extends to a motor vehicle equipped with at least one seat as previously described.
[0052] The invention extends to the method of manufacturing the seat previously described. This method is particularly simple and quick to carry out. It comprises in particular:
[0053] - the provision of the peripheral frame;
[0054] - the supply of the textile cover;
[0055] - the installation of the textile cover on the frame, step consisting of
[0056] - slip the backrest portion of the textile cover onto the backrest frame of the frame peripheral, pull the seat portion of the cover forward until the front crossbar of the peripheral frame is inserted inside the front reverse of the seat portion of the textile cover,
[0057] - pull the seat portion of the cover backwards until the strip is clipped fixing the rear transverse edge of the seat portion of the cover to the rear transverse attachment rod of the frame,
[0058] - clip each of the fixing strips on the side edges of the seat portion of the cover on the corresponding lateral transverse hanging rod of the frame, close the zipper and slider of the backrest portion of the cover.
[0059] The actions previously described for installing the textile cover on the frame are preferably performed in the order indicated above. However, these actions could be performed in reverse order, i.e. start by putting the seat portion on the seat frame and then putting the backrest portion on the backrest frame (in particular - but not only - if the backrest portion has a rear face of reduced height or if this rear face is replaced by straps). The clipping of the fixing strips occurs in this case preferably after the installation of the backrest portion (in order to facilitate the handling of the latter), and the closing of the zipper and slider remains the final action (provided that the backrest portion has such a closure, which is not the case if the rear face of the backrest portion is replaced by straps for example).
[0060] If the cover incorporates a headrest, this can then be folded down onto the front face of the backrest portion of the cover and its elastic strap is put in place.
[0061] At the end of this process, the cover is perfectly adjusted and stretched over the peripheral frame. This result is obtained with a particularly simple and quick process to carry out, without screws or any particular independent fixing, which contributes to obtaining a very inexpensive vehicle seat. [0074] Identical or similar elements shown in the above-mentioned figures are identified by identical numerical references.
[0075] All of the figures show an example of embodiment of a seat according to the invention, which comprises a peripheral frame 2 and a textile cover 6, only the peripheral frame 2 being illustrated in [Fig.l] to 5.
[0076] The seat comprises a seat, a backrest and a headrest integrated into the backrest.
[0077] The peripheral frame 2 is made up of an assembly of steel tube sections, fitted one after the other and secured to each other by any appropriate method capable of giving the assembly resistance to shocks and deformation compatible with the use of the seat as a motor vehicle seat. A method of fixing the tube sections to each other is preferably chosen which is easy and quick to implement, and does not require the use of additional parts (such as pins or bolts for example) which would have the negative effect of complicating the manufacturing process of the seat or of having projecting parts in contact with the textile cover. Fixing by welding is therefore preferred.
[0078] The peripheral frame 2 comprises:
[0079] - a seat frame 8 corresponding to the seat of the seat,
[0080] - a backrest frame 10, which corresponds to the backrest of the seat and a part of which is upper 12 forms a head frame.
[0081] The seat frame 8 of the armature comprises a front transverse bar 80, two side bars 82, and two elbow connectors 84 each connecting the front end of one of the side bars 82 with one of the ends of the bar front transverse bar 80. The assembly of the bars 80, 82 and the connectors 84 form a seat frame 8 open towards the rear. Note that the front transverse bar 80 can be made up of several assembled tube sections (in the example illustrated, it comprises two) or of a single tube section.
[0082] For greater comfort, a front portion of the side bars 82 of the seat frame is bent downwards; the front crossbar 80 is consequently located below the seat plane which contains the rear portion of the side bars 82 and sufficiently far from this plane so that the user's thighs do not rest on the front crossbar 80 but rest only on the seat portion of the textile cover 6 which will be described later.
[0083] The frame 2 further comprises an upper crossbar 102, two parallel backrest sidebars 102 and two converging sidebars 122, which form a backrest frame 10 open downwards.
[0084] In the illustrated example, on each side of the seat, the same bent tube 14 is used to form the seat side bar 82 of the seat frame and a lower part of the backrest side bar 102 of the backrest frame. The bent tube 14 thus comprises a front part 14a corresponding to the seat side bar 82 of the seat frame and a rear part 14b corresponding to a lower part of the backrest side bar 102 of the backrest frame.
[0085] The backrest side bar 102 of the backrest frame further comprises a second tube 16 in extension and alignment with the rear portion 14b of the bent tube 14.
[0086] The upper transverse bar 120 is here formed by a tube 20, and the two converging lateral bars 122 are formed by tubes 18 which converge in the direction of the tube 20. The bars 120 and 122 delimit a head 12.
[0087] On each side of the seat, the tube 16 of the backrest frame and the tube 18 of the headrest are connected by an elbow connection 17 which form an angle in the plane of the backrest defined by the tubes 16, that is to say seen from the front (see [Fig.2]). This angle can be between 30° and 35° for example.
[0088] The elbow connections 17 also form an angle in a vertical longitudinal plane of the seat, that is to say seen in profile or in section along the plane AA (see [Fig.3]), so that the tubes 18 - and therefore the headrest - extend generally in a vertical plane while the tubes 16 - and therefore the backrest - are inclined towards the rear.
[0089] On each side of the seat, the tube 20 and the tube 18 are also connected by an elbow connection 19 which, in the example, forms an angle of 55° to 60° in the plane of the headrest defined by the tubes 18.
[0090] As can be seen in particular in [Fig.8] and 9, the different sections of tubes or tubes which make up the peripheral frame 2 are preferably at least partially covered with anti-noise sleeves 5.
[0091] All of the tube sections or tubes of the frame 2 form a closed frame which is directly covered by a textile cover 6 (see [Fig.8] to 11), the specifications of which in terms of tensile strength and tear resistance, and tension on the frame, in particular in the transverse direction, are adapted to the use of the seat as a motor vehicle seat.
[0092] Preferably, the textile cover is made from a polyester yarn fabric which has a seam tensile strength (ISO 13935-2 standard) greater than or equal to 700N, a breaking force (ISO 1421 standard) greater than or equal to 200 daN and a tearing force (ISO 13937-2 standard) greater than or equal to 150N. The cover is described in more detail below.
[0093] The frame further comprises, between the seat frame 8 and the ground or floor of a vehicle:
[0094] - a front base 40 comprising a front lower crosspiece 402 sen possibly horizontal, and two substantially vertical front lateral uprights 404, the upper end of which is fixed to one of the lateral seat bars 82 of the frame and the lower end of which is fixed to the front lower crosspiece 402,
[0095] - a rear base 42 comprising a rear lower cross member 422 sen possibly horizontal, and two substantially vertical rear lateral uprights 424, the upper end of which is fixed to one of the lateral seat bars 82 of the frame and the lower end of which is fixed to the rear lower crosspiece 422,
[0096] - on each side of the seat, a slide and rail assembly 44, comprising a slide 442 slidingly mounted on a rail 444 intended to be fixed to a floor of the vehicle.
[0097] On each side of the seat, the end of the front lower crosspiece 402 is rigidly fixed to the slide 442 by means of a fixing lug 408 or a spacer 409 screwed onto said slide. Similarly, the end of the rear lower crosspiece 422 is rigidly fixed to the slide 442 by means of a fixing lug 408 or a spacer 409 screwed onto said slide.
[0098] Furthermore, the seat comprises locking means for locking each of the slides 442 in the corresponding rail 444, and unlocking means including a pivoting control bar 46, the actuation of which allows the slides to be released, for the purpose of adjusting the position of the seat in the longitudinal direction. These means are well known to those skilled in the art and will therefore not be detailed here.
[0099] Like the frame 2, the textile cover 6 comprises a seat portion 62, a backrest portion 64, an upper part of which forms a headrest portion 66.
[0100] The backrest portion 64, including the headrest portion 66, comprises a front face 642 and a back face 644 sewn together over their entire height along one of their lateral edges. The backrest portion 64 (including the headrest portion 66) has a closed upper end 646, an open lower end 648 (see [Fig.7]), as well as a lateral opening 650 which facilitates the placement of the cover on the frame and which is closed by a zipper and slider 652.
[0101] The zipper and slider 652 is preferably sewn around the side opening using a zigzag stitch or a double seam in order to guarantee the strength of the seam taking into account the tension forces undergone in particular in the transverse direction by the back portion of the textile cover.
[0102] The seat portion 62 of the textile cover has a rear transverse edge 622, a front transverse edge 624 and two lateral edges 626.
[0103] The lower end of the front face 642 of the backrest portion of the cover is sewn onto the seat portion 62 near the rear transverse edge 622 thereof.
[0104] The front transverse edge 624 has a cuff 628 which wraps around the front transverse bar 80 of the frame and makes it possible to position and stretch the seat portion 62 of the cover on the seat frame 8 of the frame.
[0105] The seat portion 62 comprises three fixing rods 7 which allow the textile cover 6 to be attached to the peripheral frame 2, each rod 7 being clipped onto a hanging rod 9 provided for this purpose on the frame.
[0106] To this end, each fixing strip 7 comprises a flat strip 72 sewn onto the textile cover along one edge thereof, for example the lateral edge 626 of the seat portion visible in [Fig.9]. In order to guarantee a solid and lasting fixing of the fixing strip 7 on the textile cover 6 and to reduce the risks of tearing of the cover at the seam of said strip, a hem is formed on the cover along the edge which receives the fixing strip 7; the strip is therefore sewn onto two thicknesses of fabric of the cover (see [Fig.9]).
[0107] The fixing rod 7 also comprises a groove 74 configured to receive one of the attachment rods 9 of the peripheral frame 2. This groove 74 is bordered by a lip 76 which forms an elastic return clamp retaining the attachment rod 9 in the groove 74. This is why we speak of “clipping” the rod onto the attachment rod, a force having to be applied to insert the attachment rod into the groove or to release it from it.
[0108] The use of the fixing rods 7 and the attachment rods 9 as elements for fixing the textile cover to the peripheral frame 2, fixing elements which are non-point and extend, in the example, almost over the entire width and over the entire depth of the seat, limits or even eliminates the risks of the cover starting to break at the level of its fixing to the frame.
[0109] In the example illustrated, the peripheral frame 2 comprises three attachment rods 9, namely:
[0110] - a rear transverse attachment rod 92 which extends transversely under the seat frame 8 at the rear of the seat, from one rear side upright 424 to the other,
[0111] - and two lateral hooking rods 94 which extend longitudinally under the frame seat 8 on each side of the seat, from the front side post 404 to the rear side post 424.
[0112] Note that these lateral attachment rods 94 are not arranged vertically in line with the lateral bars 82 but are arranged slightly set back towards the inside of the space occupied by the seat. Similarly, the rear transverse attachment rod 92 is not located in the plane of the backrest defined by the lateral backrest bars 122, but slightly set back from this plane towards the inside of the seat.
[0113] This guarantees better tension of the cover, as well as better distribution of the forces transmitted between the cover and the side bars 82 of the seat frame which limits the risks of tearing of the cover.
[0114] The illustrated seat further comprises a headrest 50 pressed against the headrest portion 66 of the cover. This headrest comprises (see [Fig. 10] and 11):
[0115] - a cushion 52 formed by a rigid plate and a soft mattress glued to the face before said plate,
[0116] - a flexible tab 54 by which the cushion is attached to the textile cover 6, one of the ends of said tongue 54 being sewn to the upper end 646 of the headrest portion of the cover, the other end of the tongue being sewn into the upper edge of the cushion 52,
[0117] - an elastic strap 56 which extends from one side edge of the cushion to the other and can be passed around the headrest frame of the peripheral frame covered with the textile cover as shown in [Fig. 11].
[0118] A seat according to the invention can be the subject of multiple variants provided that it has the characteristics of the appended claim 1.
