AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing housing structures, such as old fireplace bushels, lack a practical method to convert them into waterproof connections for controlled mechanical ventilation (VMC) systems.

Method used

The process involves installing a horizontal metal plate to block the bushel internally for waterproofing, followed by a vertical metal plate to seal the drilled hole in the bushel wall, and finally connecting the new VMC duct network to the apartment.

Benefits of technology

This method effectively transforms old fireplace bushels into waterproof and potentially fire-resistant ventilation ducts, enabling a seamless connection to a controlled mechanical ventilation system.

Description

Title of the invention: Method for creating, from a chimney flue belonging to a dwelling, a sealed connection to controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV)

[0001] The technical characteristics of the invention: It involves sealing an old housing chimney flue, to transform it into a ventilation duct for connection to controlled mechanical ventilation (CMV). Brief description of the figures

[0002] [Figla&lb]:

[0003] [Fig. 1a]: Existing chimneys, blocked or not

[0004] [Fig. 1b]: After locating the bushel corresponding to the apartment, by detection using a metal detector with a lead mass & camera passage, creation of a square hole of approximately 23cm x 23cm in the upper part of the wall of the box.

[0005] [Fig.2]: Schematic diagram which describes the process of the invention in three stages of assembly :

[0006] 1-Installation of a horizontal metal plate (or other material) to plug the valve inside, in order to make it watertight.

[0007] 2- Place a vertical metal plate (or other material) to plug the hole made in the wall of the bushel.

[0008] 3- Connection of the new duct network for the apartment's VMC.

[0009] [Fig.3]: Principle section which describes the process of the invention in three stages of assembly. Preferred embodiment of the invention

[0010] The embodiment of the invention is made by installing 2 metal plates: one in the chimney flue and the other on the wall of the chimney. Statement of the invention

[0011] The idea is to connect a new ventilation network in the home to a vertical VMC network by using and sealing individual conduits, for example chimney flues.

[0012] To make the duct watertight, the flue must be closed at the top, on the roof. Only a hole will allow the flue / duct to be connected to the VMC box on the roof. To ensure the flue is watertight at the bottom, we close the flue horizontally, below the connection of the housing ventilation to the flue. The horizontal plugging makes the duct watertight and can be fireproof according to regulations, as well as the plate drilled for the connection of the ventilation pipe connected to the flue.

[0013] The method comprises: • a) The installation of a horizontal metal plate to plug the valve inside, in order to make it watertight. • b) Installation of a vertical metal plate to plug the hole made in the wall of the flue. 1-Install a metal plate in the chimney flue fixed to the wall to seal the duct that will be used for the VMC. Install seals around the plate in the flue and on the wall attachment. The element can be fireproof if necessary.

[0014] 2-Install a pre-drilled metal plate on the wall to accommodate the new duct network for the apartment's VMC. Install sealing gaskets around the plate. The element can be fireproof if necessary.

[0015] 3-Connection of the new duct network for the apartment's VMC. With installation of flexible sealing between the plate and the duct.

[0016] 4 - Flue of the existing chimney.

[0017] 5 - Existing wall of the flue.

[0018] 6 - Existing chimney still present.

Claims

Claims

1. Method for connecting the ventilation of dwellings to a VMC network using individual ducts, for example chimney flues, characterized in that it comprises three assembly steps: 1-Installation of a horizontal metal plate to plug the flue inside, in order to make it watertight. 2- Installation of a vertical metal plate to plug the hole made in the wall of the flue. 3- Connection of the new network of ducts of the VMC of the apartment.

2. Method according to claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises a step of closing the valve in the upper part, on the roof.

3. Method according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that it further comprises a step of piercing the bush to connect the duct to the bush, in order to connect them to the VMC box on the roof.
