Description

Title of the invention: Device for moving a windrow placed on the ground Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of treatment of plant stems, such as flax or hemp. The invention relates more specifically to the field of treatment of a continuous sheet of plant stems placed on the ground. Prior art

[0002] Flax is a fiber plant. To facilitate the extraction of fibers for use in particular in the textile industry, the flax stalks undergo a retting operation. This operation requires that, during the harvest of flax, after the stalks have been pulled out, they are placed on the ground in the form of windrows, consisting of a continuous layer of stems parallel to each other and aligned in the direction perpendicular to the advancement of the pulling machine. The windrow is left on the field for a sufficient time for the microorganisms present in the soil to carry out the biological degradation of the pectic cements which bind the fibers together. When this degradation is sufficient, the flax is collected for scutching, that is to say, to be treated in an industrial site for the extraction of the fibers and their cleaning for use in the textile industry.

[0003] It is known to store and transport plant stems in the form of agricultural bales. Such bales allow easy handling of plant stems, in particular a continuous sheet of plant stems, while allowing them to be unrolled once at the destination site.

[0004] The manufacture of an agricultural bale is obtained using a winder towed, in the field, by a motorized machine. The winder is thus configured to wind the continuous sheet of plant stems into a spiral, as said sheet is recovered from the ground, in order to form the agricultural bale.

[0005] However, such a winder being towed by a motorized machine, the latter may be caused, when winding a continuous sheet, to roll over an adjacent continuous sheet. Such passage of one or more wheels of the motorized machine over an adjacent continuous sheet may then cause the plant stems to be crushed, and therefore deteriorated, or may mix them with the underlying earth or dust before winding, or may cause the stems to become disordered before winding. Such problems must be avoided, in particular in order to improve the winding of the agricultural bale and to limit the accumulation of dust. In particular, the presence of dust in the agricultural bale may lead, when winding rolling of the agricultural bale, to a risk of exposure of operators to such dust.

[0006] It is thus known to propose offset winders. Unlike standard winders which are positioned in the axis of the motorized machine which pulls them, offset winders are offset laterally relative to the direction of movement of the motorized machine which pulls them. It then becomes possible to collect a continuous sheet and to roll it into an agricultural bale, while limiting the risks of the wheels of the motorized machine passing over said sheet just before its collection.

[0007] However, such offset winders are more expensive and, due to their lateral offset, more difficult to maneuver, particularly when cornering. In addition, the lateral offset of such winders remains limited, so that their use does not guarantee an absence of contact between the wheels of the motorized vehicle and the sheet continuing to be wound.

[0008] Furthermore, the lateral offset of such offset winders is generally only on one side, which can complicate the recovery of windrows at the edges of the field. In particular, in the event of an obstacle preventing the motorized machine from traveling next to an edge of the field, for example a hedge or a wall, it becomes more complicated to use the offset winder, unless the motorized machine is driven in the opposite direction, which would lead to the continuous sheet being wound in an upside-down spiral, with regard to the position of the seed capsules at the end of the stems. Presentation of the invention

[0009] The present invention aims to solve the various technical problems stated above. In particular, the present invention aims to propose a device connected to a motorized machine and making it possible to facilitate the recovery of a continuous sheet of plant stems from the ground, while limiting the risks of crushing said continuous sheet by said motorized machine. More specifically, the present invention aims to propose a device facilitating the use of a winder while keeping quality plant stems in the agricultural bale.

[0010] Thus, according to one aspect, there is provided a device for moving a continuous longitudinal sheet of plant stems arranged on the ground, the device being configured to move said continuous sheet, at least in part and preferably mainly, in a horizontal direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of said continuous sheet. The device comprises means for attachment to a motorized machine, collection means configured to collect said continuous sheet from the ground, and a means for lateral movement of said collected continuous sheet, for example extending at least in a longitudinal direction. The lateral movement means extends, at least in part and preferably mainly, between the means of collection and means of attachment to a motorized machine.

[0011] Thus, the device according to the invention makes it possible to laterally move the swath intended to be picked up and wound by a winder mounted at the rear of a motorized machine, so as to position it at the level of the track of said motorized machine, that is to say at the level of the width between the two wheels of the same axle of the motorized machine. Such a device then makes it possible, on the one hand, to prevent the wheels of the motorized machine from rolling on the continuous sheet to be wound or on an adjacent continuous sheet, and on the other hand to use a standard winder, that is to say mounted in the axis of the motorized machine. The displacement device makes it possible in particular to move the continuous sheet during collection away from the adjacent continuous sheet or any other obstacle which could prevent a motorized machine from moving, such as a hedge or a wall, so as to leave between the two a sufficient space for the wheels of the motorized machine to pass.

[0012] The moving device according to the present invention is in particular mounted at the front of the motorized machine, and therefore makes it possible to move the continuous sheet intended to pass between the wheels of the motorized machine, just before being picked up and wound by the winder. The motorized machine therefore does not crush or disorganize the windrow to be picked up or a windrow adjacent to that to be picked up. In addition, the moving device being mounted at the front of the motorized machine, it is easier to maneuver, even in a laterally offset position, than a towed offset winder. Furthermore, maneuvering the motorized machine is also facilitated by the use of a non-offset winder.

[0013] Finally, moving the windrow before collection also aerates it, shakes it lightly and separates it from any weeds present, which allows the dust to fall off before it is rolled into an agricultural bale. This makes it easier to recover it for the purpose of manufacturing the agricultural bale. It is then possible to obtain an agricultural bale with less dust inside, which also results in lower exposure to dust for the operators present during the subsequent unrolling of the agricultural bale.

[0014] In the direction of movement of the stems of the windrow, the lateral movement means is therefore mounted, at least in part and preferably mainly, downstream of the collection means and upstream of the attachment means. Furthermore, the motorized machine is arranged downstream of the movement device and upstream of the winder.

[0015] Preferably, the collection means comprise a rotating pick-up equipped with metal fingers, retractable or not.

[0016] The rotary pick-up allows the stems of the continuous sheet placed on the ground to be picked up, while limiting dust intake. The presence of retractable metal fingers can facilitate the transfer of the stems collected from the pick-up to the belt of the lateral movement means and limit dust intake.

[0017] Preferably, the pick-up means also comprise a wheel configured to roll on the upper surface of the continuous sheet, the pick-up being mounted, preferably, sliding in height relative to said wheel, and the pick-up being configured to rotate in a direction opposite to that of said wheel.

[0018] The pick-up can thus be preceded by a wheel which, when the moving device is moved, rolls on the upper surface of the continuous sheet. Such a wheel makes it possible to keep the distance between the pick-up and the continuous sheet constant, regardless of the irregularities of the ground on which the continuous sheet is laid. In particular, the distance can be adjusted by sliding the height of the pick-up relative to said wheel.

[0019] Preferably, the lateral displacement means comprises one or more belts, preferably provided with spikes, extending between a front cylinder positioned close to the collection means or forming part of the collection means, and a rear cylinder positioned close to the attachment means or forming part of the attachment means, the front and rear cylinders for the same belt being parallel.

[0020] In order to move the stems picked up by the pick-up, the lateral movement means comprises one or more belts which extend between two end rollers and which are rotated around said rollers. The belt or belts are in particular oriented to transport the stems from the pick-up to the track of the motorized machine at which the stems are released onto the ground.

[0021] According to one embodiment, the lateral displacement means is configured to allow lateral displacement of the front cylinder relative to the rear cylinder so as to obtain an angle between the longitudinal direction of the lateral displacement means and the longitudinal direction of the continuous sheet.

[0022] In such an embodiment, the lateral inclination of the displacement device is obtained by lateral displacement of the front cylinder: a lateral displacement means is then obtained whose longitudinal direction extends substantially horizontally, with an angle relative to the longitudinal direction of displacement of the motorized vehicle.

[0023] Preferably, the attachment means are configured to allow the device to be mounted on the front of a motorized vehicle, for example a tractor.

[0024] The attachment means are configured to adapt to the different systems present on the motorized machines capable of moving the movement device according to the invention, and a winder. The movement device being intended to be mounted at the front, the fixing means are configured accordingly.

[0025] According to another embodiment, the attachment means are configured to allow rotation of the movement device relative to the motorized vehicle, around a vertical axis, so as to obtain an angle between the longitudinal direction of the lateral displacement means and the longitudinal direction of the continuous sheet.

[0026] In such an embodiment, the lateral displacement means retains its geometry but is pivoted relative to the motorized vehicle, in order to allow an angle between its longitudinal direction and that of said motorized vehicle.

[0027] According to another aspect, there is also provided a motorized machine, for example an agricultural machine such as a tractor, comprising a movement device as described above, the movement device being mounted, by the attachment means, at the front of the motorized machine, preferably in a vertical plane passing substantially through the center of a front axle of the motorized machine, so as to prevent the wheels of the motorized machine from crushing the plant stems.

[0028] Preferably, the device is configured to position, by lateral displacement, the continuous sheet at the level of the track of the motorized vehicle, that is to say between the wheels of the same axle, of the motorized vehicle.

[0029] Preferably, the motorized machine also comprises a device for winding the continuous sheet into a ball, said winding device being mounted at the rear of the motorized machine and positioned in the axis of the motorized machine.

[0030] The machine can then easily and efficiently use a standard, non-offset winder to recover and wind the continuous sheet of swath which has previously been shifted laterally by the moving device.

[0031] Preferably, the pick-up of the movement device, and possibly the belt(s) of the lateral movement means, is driven in rotation at the same angular speed as the wheels of the motorized vehicle.

[0032] Such synchronization of the rotation speeds of the means of the lateral displacement device and the wheels of the tractor makes it possible to have a processing speed of the continuous sheet which is the same throughout the motorized machine. Such synchronization can be obtained in particular by connecting the pick-up and / or the belt(s) of the displacement device to drive means of the motorized machine, which are synchronized with the speed of movement of said motorized machine. [0037] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] schematically represents a motorized vehicle equipped of a winder at the rear, and of a moving device according to an alternative embodiment of the invention at the front, seen from the side. Description of the embodiments

[0038] [Fig.l] schematically illustrates an example of a motorized machine 1 with a winder 2 mounted, not offset, at the rear of the motorized machine 1, and a device 4 for moving a continuous sheet according to the present invention, mounted at the front of the motorized machine.

[0039] As illustrated in Figures 1 and 4, the device 4 for moving a continuous sheet is pushed by the motorized machine 1 at the front of which it is mounted. The device 4 for moving a continuous sheet comprises, successively, from front to rear, picking-up means 6, a lateral moving means 8, and attachment means 10.

[0040] The collection means 6 make it possible to collect from the ground 12 a continuous sheet 14 of stems constituting the windrow. The continuous sheet 14 rests in particular on the ground in a longitudinal horizontal direction L along which the motorized machine 1 moves. The lateral displacement means 8 is capable of translating laterally, in a horizontal plane, said continuous sheet 14, the continuous sheet then being positioned at the level of the track of the motorized machine at the end of the lateral displacement. More precisely, the continuous sheet 14 is moved, at least in part, in a transverse horizontal direction T perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L. Once the continuous sheet is positioned in the track of the motorized machine 1, the latter can move above it, without rolling over it, and the winder 2 can then recover and wind the continuous sheet 14 into an agricultural bale. All of these operations of picking up, lateral movement in the transverse direction T and wrapping into an agricultural bale are carried out continuously during the movement, in the longitudinal direction L, of the machine 1 pushing the lateral movement device 4 and pulling the winder 2.

[0041] According to the preferred embodiment illustrated, the collection means 6 comprise a pick-up 16 provided with metal fingers 18, which may or may not be retractable. The pick-up 16 rotates on itself in a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the wheels of the machine 1, so that the metal fingers 18, coming into contact with the continuous sheet 14, lift the latter and drive it in rotation on the surface as shown in [Fig. 1]. The collection means 6 may also comprise a wheel (not shown) preceding the pick-up 16 and which, when the machine 1 is moving, rolls on the upper surface of the continuous sheet 14. This wheel, on which the pick-up 16 is mounted adjustable in height, makes it possible to keep the spacing between the pick-up 16 and the continuous sheet 14 constant, whatever the irregularities of the ground 12.

[0042] According to a first variant illustrated in Figures 1 and 4, the displacement means 8 is constituted by a belt 20 provided with pins, which is stretched between a front cylinder 22 and a rear cylinder 24, in a longitudinal direction. The longitudinal direction of the belt is substantially the longitudinal direction of the displacement means 8, and has, as explained below, an angle α (alpha) with the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14. The front cylinder 22 is associated with the pick-up 16 in such a way that the sheet 14 picked up by the fingers 18 of the pick-up is driven onto the belt 20 by the pins, and more particularly by the pins of a lower strand of the belt 20.The rear cylinder 24 is disposed on the side of the attachment means 10, and close to the ground 12, so that the sheet driven by the spikes of the belt 20 and moved laterally, is deposited on the ground 12 as close as possible to it, so as to avoid any disturbance. The front cylinder 22 and the rear cylinder 24 are positioned parallel, in a substantially horizontal direction, so as to be able to tension the belt 20 between them and so that the rods moved laterally remain substantially in a plane comprising a horizontal direction, during their movement from front to rear.

[0043] Once the sheet 14 is placed on the ground 12, at the level of the track of the motorized machine 1, the latter can then roll above it, without the wheels crushing it, then the winder 2 recovers and spirally winds the sheet 14 in order to form an agricultural bale.

[0044] [Fig. 2] illustrates a first embodiment of the displacement means 8. In this first embodiment, the angle a (alpha) between the longitudinal direction of the displacement means 8 and the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14 is obtained by pivoting the belt 20 and the front and rear cylinders 22, 24 around a vertical axis located at or near the attachment means 10.

[0045] More precisely, the front and rear cylinders 22, 24, and the belt 20 have a generally rectangular shape whose length corresponds to the distance between the two cylinders 22, 24 and extends in the longitudinal direction of the displacement means 8. In order to position the collection means 6 opposite the continuous sheet 14, that is to say laterally offset relative to the axis of movement of the motorized machine 1 and therefore relative to the attachment means 10, the cylinders 22, 24 and the belt 20 are mounted pivoting around a vertical axis situated, preferably, at the level of the attachment means 10, for example at the level of the connection between the displacement means 8 and the attachment means 10 or at the level of the connection between the attachment means 10 and the motorized vehicle 1.

[0046] It is then sufficient to pivot the cylinders 22, 24 and the belt 20 by an adequate angle a (alpha) to allow the positioning of the collection means 6 opposite the continuous sheet 14.

[0047] Such an embodiment leads in particular to having collection means 6 which are inclined at an angle a (alpha) relative to the transverse direction T, and therefore inclined relative to the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14. In particular, the cylinders 22, 24 are inclined relative to the transverse direction T. Nevertheless, the stems can still be collected, moved and then deposited at the level of the track of the motorized machine 1 so as to allow their recovery by the winder 2 in a second stage.

[0048] Such an embodiment therefore makes it possible to position the collection means 6 on one side or the other of the motorized machine 1, in order to laterally move a continuous sheet 14 located on one side or the other of the motorized machine 1.

[0049] [Fig. 3] illustrates a second embodiment of the displacement means 8. In this second embodiment, the angle a (alpha) between the longitudinal direction of the displacement means 8 and the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14 is obtained by lateral deformation of the structure formed by the belt 20 and the front and rear cylinders 22, 24.

[0050] More precisely, the displacement means 8 may comprise two lateral assemblies each formed by a belt 20 mounted between two corresponding cylinders 22, 24. The two assemblies are positioned side by side so that the belts 20 remain adjacent to each other. However, and as in the first embodiment illustrated in [Fig.2], each assembly is pivotally mounted around a vertical axis, the two vertical axes being offset from each other by the distance separating the two belts 20. Thus, the simultaneous rotation of the two assemblies will lead to obtaining front cylinders 22 oriented in parallel but different directions, and rear cylinders 24 oriented in parallel but different directions.

[0051] In this case, the pivoting of the two assemblies will lead to obtaining a lateral displacement of the collection means 6, which will nevertheless remain parallel to the transverse direction T and therefore perpendicular to the direction to the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14, that is to say to obtaining a displacement means 8 in the form of a deformable parallelogram.

[0052] Such a second embodiment therefore also makes it possible to position the collection means 6 on one side or the other of the motorized machine 1, in order to laterally move a continuous sheet 14 located on one side or the other of the motorized machine 1.

[0053] As can be seen in Figures 2 and 3, the movement device 4 allows the motorized vehicle 1 to move alongside the adjacent continuous sheet, without rolling over it, while passing the continuous sheet being collected, at the level of the track of the motorized machine 1 to also prevent the motorized machine 1 from rolling over it and to allow its collection by a standard winder mounted in the axis of the machine 1. The displacement device 4 thus makes it possible to separate the continuous sheet being collected from the adjacent continuous sheet, so as to leave between the two sufficient space for the passage of the wheels of the motorized machine 1.

[0054] Such a displacement of the continuous sheet can also be advantageous when it is located, not next to an adjacent continuous sheet, but along an area inaccessible to the motorized machine 1, such as a hedge or a wall. The displacement device 4 then makes it possible to free up sufficient space between the continuous sheet to be collected and the inaccessible area, to allow the motorized machine to circulate, without damaging said continuous sheet to be collected.

[0055] It is finally also possible to have a lifting means (not shown) mounted at the level of the attachment means 10. The lifting means can thus be configured to raise or lower the displacement device 4 relative to the ground 12, to allow the continuous sheet to be moved or not. Thus, and as illustrated in [Fig. 4], the lifting means can allow the displacement device 4 to be raised above the ground 12 when it is not necessary to use it. Such a configuration is particularly useful at the end of a continuous sheet, when the motorized vehicle must maneuver, for example turn around, to position itself in the axis of the next continuous sheet: the lifting of the displacement device 4 then makes it possible to facilitate such maneuvers without disrupting the start of the next continuous sheet to be recovered.

[0056] The control of the lifting means of the displacement device 4 can in particular be carried out from the cockpit of the motorized vehicle 1.

[0057] [Fig. 5] illustrates a second variant of the device for lateral movement of a continuous sheet according to the present invention.

[0058] According to this second variant illustrated in [Fig. 5], the lateral displacement means 8 comprises, or is constituted by, two belts 20a, 20b each stretched between a front cylinder 22a, 22b and a rear cylinder 24a, 24b in a longitudinal direction. The assembly formed by the belt 20a and the two cylinders 22a, 24a is arranged above the assembly formed by the belt 20b and the two cylinders 22a, 24a, so that the lower strand of the belt 20a comes opposite the upper strand of the belt 20b.

[0059] The longitudinal direction of the belts 20a, 20b is substantially the longitudinal direction of the lateral displacement means 8, and has, as explained above, an angle a (alpha) with the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14. The front cylinder 22b is associated with, or even forms part of, the pick-up 16 so that the belt 20b drives the pick-up 16 and such that the sheet 14 picked up by the fingers 18 of the pick-up is pinched between the upper strand of the belt 20b and the lower strand of the belt 20a, then driven towards the attachment means. The rear cylinders 24a, 20b are arranged on the side of the attachment means 10, and close to the ground 12, so that the sheet driven by the strands of the belts 20a, 20b and moved laterally, is deposited on the ground 12 as close as possible to it, so as to avoid any disturbance. The front cylinders 22a, 22b and the rear cylinders 24a, 24b are positioned parallel, in a substantially horizontal direction, so as to be able to tension the belts 20a, 20b between them and so that the laterally displaced rods remain substantially in a plane comprising a horizontal direction, during their movement from front to rear.

[0060] As explained previously for the first variant, the angle a (alpha) between the longitudinal direction of the lateral displacement means 8 and the longitudinal direction L of the continuous sheet 14 can be obtained by pivoting the belts 20a, 20b and the front and rear cylinders 22a, 22b, 24a, 24b around a vertical axis located at or near the attachment means 10, or by lateral deformation of the structure formed by the belts 20a, 20b and the front and rear cylinders 22a, 22b, 24a, 24b.

[0061] Thus, thanks to the device for lateral movement of a continuous sheet according to the present invention, it becomes possible to recover a continuous sheet of stems with a winder mounted in the axis of movement of the motorized machine, and without having to roll over the continuous sheet or over an adjacent continuous sheet beforehand. It is then easier to maneuver the motorized machine, and the agricultural bales obtained at the outlet of the winder are of better quality, with less dust and less disordered stems.
