Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Interior rearview mirror of a vehicle Technical field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle. The invention relates to the field of passive safety of a vehicle, more particularly the interior rearview mirror in the context of high-speed impacts. Prior art
[0002] An exemplary embodiment of the prior art of such a device is shown in [Fig.l].
[0003] [Fig.l] shows an interior rearview mirror clipped onto a base glued to the windshield comprising a mounting bracket and a wire harness.
[0004] Currently, most rearview mirrors are equipped with an electrochromic function which tints the mirror to prevent glare from following vehicles at night, making it heavier (sensor, beam and electrochromic window).
[0005] During the crash tests carried out, the risk of ejection of the rearview mirror increases because the usual fixing is not capable of retaining the "weighted" rearview mirror. The situation was observed during the physical tests.
[0006] Some prior art documents also propose interior rearview mirrors clipped onto a base. For example, publication document EP1451626 is known, which discusses fixing the harness connector in the rearview mirror and the mirror construction.
[0007] This invention may have some drawbacks, for example, the solution is not robust because the connector is not designed for this and the force on the harness disconnects it from the rearview mirror in the majority of accidents.
[0008] This ejection of the rearview mirror is not acceptable because it poses a risk to the occupants of the vehicle. Presentation of the invention
[0009] The present invention aims to remedy these drawbacks with a completely innovative approach.
[0010] More specifically, the invention aims to provide an interior rearview mirror for a vehicle.
[0011] In particular, an objective of the invention is to provide such a technique making it possible to do without any other complex adjustment system.
[0012] These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved, according to a first aspect, by means of an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle comprising a harness of signal transmission wires connected with a mounting bracket; said re interior rearview mirror is attached by said mounting bracket to a bracket bonded to a windshield of the vehicle; remarkable in that said rearview mirror comprises a holding element attached to the mounting bracket; said holding element being configured to hold a portion of the wire harness.
[0013] Thanks to these provisions, the holding element makes it possible to ensure that the beam is held and thus to retain the rearview mirror in the event of a crash.
[0014] The retaining force of the rearview mirror is provided by the retaining element and not by the harness connector.
[0015] The invention is advantageously implemented according to the embodiments and variants set out below, which are to be considered individually or according to any technically operative combination.
[0016] In one embodiment, the connection of the signal transmission wire harness in the mounting bracket is located on one of the sides of the mounting bracket.
[0017] In one embodiment, the mounting bracket is clipped to the glued bracket.
[0018] Thanks to these provisions, the glued support allows the mounting support and the interior rearview mirror to be fixed to the vehicle's windshield.
[0019] In one embodiment, said holding element being on the same side as the connection of the signal transmission harness.
[0020] In one embodiment, said signal transmission wire harness comprises at a terminal end a connector configured to connect said signal transmission wire harness with the mounting bracket.
[0021] By virtue of these provisions, the connector allows the signal transmission wire harness to be more efficiently connected to the mounting bracket.
[0022] In one embodiment, the interior rearview mirror is electrochromatic.
[0023] Thanks to these provisions, the interior rearview mirror prevents the driver from being dazzled by reflective light.
[0024] In one embodiment, the holding element is a tab having a holding area and a signal transmission wire bundle passage area, the holding area corresponding to the diameter of the signal transmission wire bundle and the signal transmission wire bundle passage area being between 10 and 30% smaller than the diameter of the signal transmission wire bundle.
[0025] Thanks to these arrangements, the holding element makes it possible to hold the signal transmission wire bundle on the mounting support.
[0026] In one embodiment, the holding element has a width of 3 to 12 mm and a thickness of between 1 and 3 mm.
[0027] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a method for installing an interior rearview mirror of a vehicle, remarkable in that it comprises the following steps: - install a rearview mirror comprising a mounting bracket linked to a support glued to a windshield of a vehicle; - connecting a signal transmission wire harness with said interior rearview mirror; - locking the signal transmission wire harness in a holding element positioned on one side of the interior rearview mirror mounting bracket, said side having the wire harness connector.
[0028] The advantages, aims and particular characteristics of this method being similar to those of the interior rearview mirror which is the subject of the present invention, they are not recalled here.
[0029] In one embodiment, it comprises a prior step of manufacturing a single part comprising the mounting support and the holding element by plastic molding. Brief description of the figures
[0030] Other advantages, aims and characteristics of the present invention emerge from the following description given, for explanatory and in no way limiting purposes, with reference to the appended drawings, in which:
[0031] [Fig.l] represents the prior art with an interior rearview mirror clipped onto a base glued to the windshield.
[0032] [Fig.2] shows an illustration of an interior rearview mirror in front view.
[0033] [Fig. 3] shows a mounting bracket with a holding element in front view. Description of the embodiments
[0034] [Fig.l] has been described previously.
[0035] [Fig.2] shows an illustration of an interior rearview mirror 25 in front view.
[0036] This illustration includes the following features: a signal transmission wire harness 20, a mounting bracket 21.
[0037] According to one embodiment, the signal transmission wire harness 20 originates from the passenger compartment of the vehicle and ends its course in the mounting bracket 21.
[0038] The signal transmission wire bundle 20 has a connector 24 on one of its terminal ends.
[0039] The connector 24 allows the signal transmission wire harness 20 to be electronically connected to the mounting bracket 21.
[0040] This makes it possible to obtain an interior rearview mirror 25 comprising an electrochromic function.
[0041] The electrochromic function allows the tint or opacity of the rearview mirror to be automatically regulated in response to changing lighting conditions.

[0043] The glued support 22 is a support allowing the mounting support 21 to be clipped onto the windshield of the vehicle.
[0044] According to a variant, the mounting support 21 is a base.
[0045] A base is a fixed part to which the interior rearview mirror 25 is attached.
[0046] According to another variant, the mounting support 21 is a base.
[0047] The mounting support 21 comprises on one of its sides a holding element 23.
[0048] Consequently, the force for retaining the rearview mirror is provided by the holding element 23 and not by the connector 24 of the harness.
[0049] According to a variant, the holding element 23 is a lug.
[0050] This holding element 23 makes it possible to hold the signal transmission wire bundle 20 with an inclination of between 80 degrees and 100 degrees.
[0051] According to one variant, the inclination is 90 degrees. The signal transmission wire bundle 20 forms an elbow which has a 90° angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the connector 24 of the wire bundle.
[0052] Naturally, the invention is described in the above by way of example. It is understood that a person skilled in the art is able to carry out different variant embodiments of the invention without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0053] [Fig. 3] shows a mounting bracket 21 with a holding element 23 in rear view.
[0054] According to one example, the holding element 23 is a tab having a holding zone and a signal transmission wire bundle passage zone 20.
[0055] The holding area corresponds to the diameter of the signal transmission wire bundle 20.
[0056] According to one example, the diameter of the signal transmission wire bundle 20 is 5 mm.
[0057] The signal transmission wire bundle passage area 20 being between 10 and 30% smaller than the diameter of the signal transmission wire bundle 20. Upon insertion, the holding element 23 deforms to pass the wire bundle until it is inserted into the holding area.
[0058] The holding element 23 has a width of 3 to 12 mm and a thickness of between 1 and 3 mm.
[0059] According to one variant, the thickness of the holding element 23 is 2 mm.
[0060] It is emphasized that all the characteristics, as they emerge for a person skilled in the art from the present description, the drawings and the attached characteristics, even if concretely they have only been described in relation to other determined characteristics, both individually and in combinations any, may be combined with other features or groups of features disclosed herein, provided that this has not been expressly excluded or that technical circumstances make such combinations impossible or meaningless.
