AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing door threshold construction methods result in thermal bridges due to direct connections between the door sill and the masonry screed, which are not adequately addressed by previous solutions, including prefabricated concrete thresholds and aluminum boards, and the existing honeycomb wood composite device fails to prevent heat transfer between the door sill and the masonry screed.

Method used

A straightening strip device made of extruded composite wood boards is fixed between the lateral and horizontal faces of the door opening, forming a continuous thermal barrier with the U-shaped profile, covering the floor structure to prevent direct heat transfer.

Benefits of technology

The extruded composite wood boards create a continuous thermal insulation barrier, effectively reducing heat transfer between the door sill and the masonry screed, thereby minimizing thermal bridging and enhancing energy efficiency.

Description

Title of the invention: Extradited wooden door sill straightening strips

[0001] The present invention relates to a door threshold device which is associated with the door threshold rejingot made of extruded wood composite according to patent application No. FR 23 00562.

[0002] Existing condition: The mason craftsman has the ancestral practice of building a wooden formwork to carry out the pouring of the door threshold. In addition to the fact that the rendering is very dependent on the quality of formwork carried out by the professional, this results in significant times for the implementation, and above all this technology does not allow the thermal bridges produced to be solved. Indeed, in practice, the door thresholds are poured before the concrete screed is made. Once the latter is done, the artisanal formwork is dismantled to be able to pour the concrete screed. Consequently, once the door threshold and the concrete screed are made, these two elements touch each other and produce a significant thermal bridge.

[0003] To solve the time losses caused by this artisanal practice, and to try to improve the finish of these thresholds, there are prefabricated concrete thresholds. While these allow a little time to be saved in implementation, they are handicapped in their handling due to their weight. Furthermore, these thresholds will fit the concrete slab which will then be poured, so that the thermal bridge produced by this technology remains identical to the ancestral solution indicated above.

[0004] In order to avoid implementation problems related to the operations of making door thresholds using mortar, an unusual practice has consisted of making the door threshold straightening strip using an aluminum board principle placed on the floor structure of the dwelling, and acting as a door threshold. But this solution does not in any way resolve the problem of thermal bridging since the material used is itself a thermal conductor.

[0005] To overcome this drawback, represented by the thermal bridges produced by the connection between the door sill and the masonry slab inside the home, the present applicant had patented under application number FR2300562 a door sill rejingot device made of extruded honeycomb wood composite provided within it with cells providing thermal insulation. According to this patent, the device is intended to be used as a full-bore, in that it acts as both a connection and a thermal barrier between the door sill at the periphery of the opening and the masonry finishing screed of the house. This device is characterized by three profiles a) secured to each other at the same level, in the shape of a "U", this assembly is: - made of extruded honeycomb wood composite, the cells are continued on the horizontal plane and are intended to receive continuous thermal insulation (b) inside the “U”, so that the insulation covers the entire length of the device, - the profiles constituting the two lateral legs (a”, a'”) of the “U” have a dimension equal to the insulation received by the walls surrounding the door; so that once the device is placed in the door opening, the insulation constituted by both the wall insulation and the insulation contained in the device present continuity without loss of thermal load.

[0006] Although this device provides a thermal break between the door sill and the finishing slab inside the home, a problem persisted in that the finishing slab and the door sill rejingot rest on the same masonry screed which constitutes the floor structure. Under these conditions, if the aforementioned patent makes it possible to obtain a thermal barrier between the door sill and the finishing slab inside the house, it does not make it possible to overcome a disadvantage which is the heat transfer produced by the direct connection between the masonry door sill and the masonry screed which constitutes the floor structure (f), on which the door sill also rests. A direct heat transfer is established between the door sill and the floor structure, the finishing slab resting on this floor structure, resulting in indirect heat transmission.

[0007] It is for the purpose of solving this problem that the present invention is intended.

[0008] Presentation of the invention: the invention relates to a strip device rectification for the purpose of producing a door or French window threshold receiving an insulated “U” shaped door threshold rejingot such as patent application No. FR2300562, which is characterized in that it is made up of at least one extruded composite wood board (abbreviation WPC) (e), which is fixed continuously, in addition to the “U” shaped profile, between the 3 lateral and horizontal faces of the opening (a', a”, a”'), and in direct connection with the “U” shaped profile, inside the masonry opening which constitutes the door threshold and which completely covers the floor structure at the location of the door threshold.

[0009] The device may consist of a single part, or of several parts connected to each other.

[0010] [Fig-1] [Fig.l] is a detailed representation of the device implemented. Note the floor structure (f) which receives in its peripheral part the cladding of the building (d) and the door sill. While the U-shaped profile (a) constitutes a continuous thermal insulation with the interior insulation (c) of the dwelling behind the cladding, the straightening strip of the door sill by at least one extruded composite wood board (e) forms a thermal barrier with the floor structure (f) at the location of the door sill with the external environment.

[0011] Glossary: a) three profiles secured to each other at the same level in a “U” shape, according to patent application no. Note the 3 lateral and horizontal faces of the opening: a') - a”) and a”'), b) thermal insulation inside the three profiles secured to each other at the same level inside the “U”-shaped device, according to my same invention, c) insulation of the walls which constitute the cladding of the dwelling, d) cladding of the dwelling, made of any material, such as concrete blocks, solid or hollow bricks, cellular concrete, wooden cladding or any other type of cladding, e) extruded wood composite board (WPC) (e), which is fixed continuously between the “U”-shaped device (a), and in direct connection with the 3 lateral and horizontal faces of the opening (a', a”, a'”), f) masonry screed which constitutes the floor structure.
