Description

Title of the invention: Device for packaging and applying a cosmetic product equipped with a holding mechanism

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for packaging and applying a cosmetic product comprising:

[0002] - a base delimiting an interior volume, the base having an upper edge,

[0003] - a protective cover of elongated shape along an elongation axis, the cover being movable relative to the base between a position free of access to the interior volume and a position engaged on the base, the cover having a lower edge,

[0004] - a mechanism for holding the cover in the position engaged on the base.

[0005] The cosmetic product is, for example, a hair product, a hygiene product, a face and / or body care product, a makeup product, or a sun protection product.

[0006] More generally, a cosmetic product is a product as defined in Regulation EC No. 1223 / 2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, dated November 30, 2009, relating to cosmetic products.

[0007] Such a device is intended in particular for packaging and applying a stick of cosmetic product, in particular lipstick or a lip care product. It is suitable, for example, for being received in a handbag.

[0008] GB634693A describes a packaging device of the aforementioned type, comprising a base having at least one spring tab. The device further has a cover movable relative to the base between a free position in which the cover is separated from the base, and an engaged position, in which the cover engages on the base.

[0009] The spring tab provides a resilient means for retaining the hood in the engaged position.

[0010] Such a device is not entirely satisfactory, in particular, for covers made of rigid material, such as glass. Indeed, such a cover lacks flexibility when it engages on the base. In addition, manufacturing tolerances are high on parts made of glass.

[0011] The manufacture of the glass cover therefore does not allow sufficient dimensioning precision to be obtained to guarantee reliable and reproducible fixing on the base, in particular with the spring tab. This leads either to untimely opening of the cover, or to difficulties for the operator in opening the cover by exerting manual traction on it.

[0012] An aim of the invention is to propose a device for packaging and applying a cosmetic product having a cover which is movable relative to the base, easily movable, while being held robustly on the base, even if the cover is made of a rigid material, and with low sizing accuracy.

[0013] To this end, the invention relates to a packaging and application device of the aforementioned type, characterized in that the mechanism for holding the cover comprises an upper assembly assembled on the lower edge of the cover, the upper assembly being partially deformable relative to the cover to engage on a holding surface secured to the base in the engaged position.

[0014] The use of a holding mechanism assembled on the lower edge of the cover makes it possible to precisely dimension the upper assembly and adjust its retention force, even if the cover is made with low dimensioning accuracy and / or from a very rigid material. The upper assembly can be manufactured with high dimensioning accuracy and sufficiently flexible to ensure reliable holding, in particular during transport of the device, while providing the user with ease of opening the cover.

[0015] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises at least one of the following characteristics: - the base and / or the cover is made from a single piece of rigid material.; - the base and / or the cover is made from a single piece of glass.

[0016] The production of the cover and / or the base in a single piece is beneficial in terms of ease of manufacture, as well as for the aesthetic appearance of the device for a user.

[0017] The use of a rigid material reinforces the perception of robustness that a user can feel towards the device. The particular use of glass limits the quantity of plastic used, which is appreciable for reducing the environmental impact.

[0018] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises the following characteristic: - a mechanism for deploying a block of cosmetic product, the deployment mechanism comprising a guide sleeve mounted fixedly relative to the base, a maneuvering skirt mounted so as to be able to rotate around the guide sleeve and a cup receiving the block of cosmetic product, received in the guide sleeve, the cup being movable in translation along the elongation axis between a storage configuration of the block and a deployment configuration of the block, by rotation of the maneuvering skirt relative to the guide sleeve.

[0019] The deployment mechanism of a cosmetic product block used promotes the simplicity of use and application of the cosmetic product. It guarantees protection of the cosmetic product when not in use, particularly when it is in the form of a block.

[0020] The robust fixing of the hood on the base by the holding mechanism limits the risk of untimely operation of the deployment mechanism.

[0021] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises the following characteristic: the upper assembly comprises an inner ring, fixed to the lower edge of the cover and an outer hoop assembled around the inner ring, the inner ring comprising a deformable ring, the outer hoop comprising a peripheral outer region covering the inner ring radially outwardly and a lower rim projecting radially towards the inner ring.

[0022] The arrangement of the upper assembly in the form of an inner ring and an outer hoop is particularly suitable for mounting on a rigid material such as glass when the cover is thus produced.

[0023] The deformable inner ring can thus be made from a material configured both to ensure permanent retention with the cover, and to guarantee a robust, but removable attachment of the cover to the base, thanks to its flexibility.

[0024] The external hoop not only provides a satisfactory aesthetic appearance to the device, but also reinforces the mechanical retention of the upper assembly on the cover.

[0025] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises the following characteristic: the lower edge of the outer hoop and the deformable ring of the inner ring delimit between them an intermediate space allowing radial deformation of the deformable ring in the engaged position.

[0026] The intermediate space allows the inner ring to deform radially over a significant stroke, possibly compensating for sizing inaccuracies for fixing the cover to the base. The intermediate space guarantees the radial flexibility of the deformable ring, offering the user a simple maneuvering gesture to move between the engaged position and the free position of the cover.

[0027] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises the following characteristic: the inner ring comprises at least one snap-in tab, the lower edge of the cover having at least one snap-in groove for the or each snap-in tab.

[0028] The presence of at least one snap-in tab in the inner ring engaging in a snap-in groove in the lower edge of the cover provides a permanent and solid attachment of the upper assembly to the hood.

[0029] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises at least one of the following characteristics: - the inner ring has a peripheral inner surface, the inner surface being placed in contact with the holding surface secured to the base in the engaged position, holding the cover to the base by friction; - the holding surface is provided with a radial bead.

[0030] The frictional contact of the inner surface with the holding surface secured to the base ensures a robust frictional hold between the cover and the base in the engaged position.

[0031] The presence of a radial bead on the holding surface secured to the base reinforces the robustness of the holding in the engaged position.

[0032] According to a variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises the following characteristic: - the holding mechanism comprises a lower assembly fixed to the upper edge of the base, the lower assembly defining the holding surface integral with the base.

[0033] The lower assembly reinforces the robust retention of the hood to the base in the engaged position via the upper assembly fixed to the hood. It also allows the base to be made of a rigid material or a material for which the sizing accuracy is low, such as glass.

[0034] According to a variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises at least one of the following characteristics: - the lower assembly comprises a lower barrel for engagement on the upper edge of the base and an external hoop mounted around the lower barrel; - the outer hoop comprises a peripheral inner sleeve defining the holding surface, and an outer skirt arranged under the inner sleeve, the outer hoop comprising a holding rim radially connecting the outer skirt to the peripheral inner sleeve.

[0035] The inner barrel allows the lower assembly to be permanently held on the base.

[0036] The outer hoop provides aesthetic appeal to the base, while reinforcing the mechanical attachment of the lower assembly to the base. It promotes robust retention of the hood to the base, thanks to its retaining surface which comes into contact with the upper assembly in the engaged position of the hood, and which can be produced independently of the base, with greater sizing accuracy than that of the base.

[0037] According to one variant, the packaging and application device according to the invention comprises at least one of the following characteristics: - the lower barrel comprises a cylindrical central part inserted into the interior volume delimited by the base and a radial fixing crown comprising at least one lower fixing region, the upper edge of the base comprising an external groove in which the or each lower region is engaged; - the deployment mechanism is fixed in the lower assembly, the cylindrical central part of the inner barrel accommodating the deployment mechanism.

[0038] The or each lower region of the radial fixing crown reinforces the permanent fixing of the lower assembly to the base thanks to its engagement in the receiving housing provided in the base.

[0039] Thus, the inner barrel guarantees a robust connection to the base, while offering the possibility of carrying a mechanism for deploying a cosmetic product stick.

[0040] The invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows, given solely by way of non-limiting example, and made with reference to the drawings in which:

[0087] It comprises a guide sleeve 104, extending along the elongation axis A, fixed in rotation relative to the base 4, a maneuvering skirt 102 mounted to move in rotation around the guide sleeve 104 and a cup 106 receiving the block 12 of cosmetic product, received in the guide sleeve 104. The cup 106 is movable in translation along the elongation axis A between a storage configuration of the block 12 and a deployment configuration of the block 12, by rotation of the maneuvering skirt 102 relative to the guide sleeve 104.

[0088] The guide sleeve 104 extends along the elongation axis A. It has a lower part 107A fixed in the indexing base 80 and a cylindrical upper part 107B having an inner peripheral surface 108, an outer peripheral surface 109 and two longitudinal guide slots (one of which is not visible) of the cup 106, opening into these two surfaces.

[0089] The upper part 107B delimits an internal light 124 for circulation and guidance of the cup 106 which opens upwards.

The second circumferential end section extends from another end of the main axial section 126 in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

[0092] The lower part 107A comprises a lower securing edge 132 mounted on the toothed crown 84 and a radial projection 134 extending radially towards the elongation axis A, on which the flexible snap-in tabs 82 engage when the deployment mechanism 10 is fixed to the base 4.

[0093] The maneuvering skirt 102 extends along the elongation axis A. It defines an inner peripheral surface 167 and an outer peripheral surface 168.

[0094] The inner peripheral surface defines at least one helical groove 169 of axis A.

[0095] The maneuvering skirt 102 is rotatably mounted around the elongation axis A and the guide sleeve 104.

[0096] The maneuvering skirt 102 and the guide sleeve 104 form two concentric cylinders along the elongation axis A. The outer peripheral surface 109 of the guide sleeve 104 is in sliding contact with the inner peripheral surface inner 167 of the maneuvering skirt 102.

[0097] The cup 106 comprises a support receptacle 136 for the block 12 of cosmetic product, and for each guide slot, a radial guide pin (not visible) received both in the slot of the guide sleeve 104 and in the helical groove 169 of the operating skirt 102.

[0098] During the relative rotation between the maneuvering skirt 102 and the guide sleeve 104, the cup 106 is movable in translation along the elongation axis A between the storage configuration, in which the cup 106 is closer to the base 4, and the deployment configuration of the block 12 of cosmetic product, in which the cup 106 is distant from the base 4.

[0099] When the cup 106 is in the storage configuration or in the deployed configuration, each radial guide pin is received in a circumferential end section 128. Between each of these configurations, each radial guide pin is received in the main axial section 126.

[0100] The use of the packaging and application device 2 according to the invention for applying cosmetic product to a body surface of the user will now be described.

[0101] When the user wishes to use the cosmetic product 12 located in the deployment mechanism 10 of the cosmetic product block 12, he grasps the packaging and application device 2 of the cosmetic product 12.

[0102] Then, it disengages the cover 6 fixed to the base 4 via the upper assembly 34. The movement from the engaged position to the free position of the cover 6 is carried out by manual traction, the movement being carried out along the elongation axis A around the deployment mechanism 10.

[0103] The user then rotates the operating skirt 102 of the mechanism of deployment 10 around the elongation axis A in a first direction to move the cup 106 outwards. This movement moves the block 12 of cosmetic product from the storage configuration to the deployment configuration.

[0104] The user then applies the cosmetic product 12 to a body surface.

[0105] When the user has finished, he rotates in the opposite direction to the first direction the maneuvering skirt 102 around the elongation axis A. The rotational movement brings the cup 106 inwards. This movement moves the cosmetic product block 12 from the deployment configuration to the storage configuration.

[0106] The user moves the cover 6 to its engaged position by sliding the cover 6 along the deployment mechanism 10, until the upper assembly 34 contacts the holding surface 94.

[0107] In a variant, the base 4 is made of a material other than glass. The upper assembly 34 engages directly on the base 4 and is retained by the holding surface 94 delimited directly on the upper edge 18 of the base 4.

[0108] In another variant, the cosmetic product 12 is a lip care product.
