Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Headrest for a motor vehicle seat
[0001] The invention relates to a headrest for a motor vehicle seat.
[0002] It is known to produce a headrest for a motor vehicle seat, said headrest comprising: • a metal mounting frame at the top of a back of said seat, • two power supply wires coming from an outlet provided at the top of said frame, said wires being intended to be connected to a battery of said vehicle, • a main body mounted so as to slide vertically on said frame so as to be adjustable in height, said body being secured to a support surface for the head of an occupant of said seat, • a first device for actuating said main body in sliding, said device comprising a first geared motor, • an integrated circuit for controlling said geared motor, said circuit being provided with two power supply terminals each connected to one of said wires, said circuit comprising a support plate for its electronic components, • a means of controlling said circuit actuable by said occupant.
[0003] With such an arrangement, the problem arises, particularly when the headrest is of small volume, of having sufficient space to accommodate the wires, particularly when they are in the folded configuration, so as not to hinder the adjustment of the main body.
[0004] The invention aims to propose an arrangement making it possible to solve this problem.
[0005] To this end, the invention proposes a headrest for a motor vehicle seat, said headrest comprising: • a metal mounting frame at the top of a back of said seat, • two power supply wires coming from an outlet provided at the top of said frame, said wires being intended to be connected to a battery of said vehicle, • a main body mounted so as to slide vertically on said frame so as to be adjustable in height, said body being secured to a support surface for the head of an occupant of said seat, • a first device for actuating said main body in sliding, said device comprising a first geared motor, • an integrated circuit for controlling said geared motor, said circuit being provided with two power supply terminals each connected to one of said wires, said circuit comprising a support plate for its electronic components, • a means of controlling said circuit actuable by said occupant,
[0006] said headrest further having the following characteristics: • said circuit is fixed on said main body, • said terminals are arranged, in longitudinal view, directly above said output, so as to minimize the length of said wires, • said wires are conformable between a folded configuration, adopted when said main body is in the maximum-high adjustment position, and a substantially rectilinear extended configuration, adopted when said main body is in the maximum-low adjustment position, so as to minimize the volume occupied by said wires in said folded configuration.
[0007] It is specified here that, in this description, the terms of positioning in space (top, bottom, upper, lower, longitudinal, transverse, lateral, front, rear, vertical, horizontal, etc.) are taken with reference to the headrest arranged in the vehicle in use, said vehicle extending longitudinally along its length (X axis), transversely along its width (Y axis) and vertically along its height (Z axis).
[0008] With the proposed arrangement, the length of the wires is minimized, which allows sufficient space to accommodate said wires so as not to hinder the adjustment of the main body.
[0009] Furthermore, fixing the integrated circuit to the main body corresponds to the best compromise to minimize not only the length of the power supply wires of said circuit, but also that of the wires coming from the control means and those supplying Ic / lcs geared motor / s.
[0010] Other features and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, given with reference to the attached figures, in which:
[0011] [Fig. 1] is a partial schematic perspective view of a headrest according to a first mechanical embodiment where it comprises only a main body, the wires being in an extended configuration,
[0012] [Fig.2a] and
[0013] [Fig.2b] are schematic cross-sectional views of the headrest of [Fig.l], the wires being in extended configuration ([Fig.2a]) and in folded configuration ([Fig.2b]),
[0014] [Fig.3] is a partial perspective schematic view of a headrest according to a second mechanical embodiment where it comprises a main body and a secondary body, the wires being in an extended configuration,
[0015] With reference to the figures, a headrest 1 for a motor vehicle seat is described, said headrest comprising: • a metal mounting frame 2 at the top of a back of said seat, • two electrical supply wires 3 coming from an output 4 provided at the top of said frame, said wires being intended to be connected to a battery of said vehicle, • a main body 5 - in particular made of molded plastic material - mounted so as to slide vertically on said frame so as to be adjustable in height, said body being secured to a support surface 6 for the head of an occupant of said seat, • a first device for actuating said main body in sliding, said device comprising a first geared motor 7, • an integrated circuit 8 for controlling said geared motor, said circuit being provided with two power supply terminals 9 each connected to one of said wires, said circuit comprising a support plate 10 for its electronic components, • a control means - not shown, for example tactile as described below, or even auditory - of said circuit actuable by said occupant,
[0016] said headrest further having the following characteristics: • said circuit is fixed on said main body, • said terminals are arranged, in longitudinal view, directly above said output, so as to minimize the length of said wires, • said wires are conformable between a folded configuration, adopted when said main body is in the maximum-high adjustment position, and a substantially rectilinear extended configuration, adopted when said main body is in the maximum-low adjustment position, so as to minimize the volume occupied by said wires in said folded configuration.
[0017] According to the embodiments shown, the wires 3 are arranged in a common sheath 11.
[0018] According to a first mechanical embodiment shown in figures 1 and 2: • the headrest only includes a main body 5, • plate 10 of circuit 8 is mounted laterally and extends along a longitudinal vertical plane, • the power supply terminals 9 - in particular L-shaped to prevent the wires 3 from returning - are arranged at the top of said plate.
[0019] According to this first embodiment: • the frame 2 comprises two parallel branches 12 extending vertically and a transverse spacer 13 connecting the upper ends of said branches together, • the first geared motor 7 is mounted on the main body 5, • the first actuating device further comprises a first threaded rod 14 actuated in rotation by said first geared motor, said rod extending upwards and cooperating in screwing with a nut 15a mounted in an offset downward manner on said spacer, so that said rod does not protrude upwards from said spacer when said main body is adjusted to the maximum-high position.
[0020] According to this first embodiment, the frame 2 is in the form of a metal tube folded so as to present in longitudinal view a general shape of an inverted U, the spacer 13 being formed by the middle part of the U and the branches 12 by those of the U.
[0021] According to a second mechanical embodiment represented in [Fig.3]: • the headrest further comprises a secondary body 16 - in particular made of molded plastic material - mounted to slide longitudinally on the main body 5, so as to be able to be adjusted in a longitudinal direction, said secondary body being actuated in sliding by a second actuating device comprising a second geared motor 17, • said secondary body is provided with two upper 18a and lower 18b tenons extending longitudinally and having in longitudinal view a shape fitting into a trapezium, said trapezium having a large base facing inwards and a small base facing outwards, • said tenons slide in two respective upper 19a and lower 19b mortises provided in said main body, said mortises opening outwards through said small base, so as to form a “dovetail” assembly,
[0022] said headrest further comprising a common integrated circuit 8 controlling the first 7 and second 17 geared motors, the plate 10 of said circuit being mounted on a reinforcing element 20 of said upper mortise, said element being mounted transversely on either side of said mortise so as to close it from above, said plate extending along a substantially horizontal plane.
[0023] Such positioning of the integrated circuit 8 is dictated by space considerations which do not allow it to be fixed according to the method provided in the first embodiment, said circuit then being arranged as close as possible to the output 4.
[0024] It should be noted that, according to this second embodiment, the main body 5 is integral with the support surface 6 of the head of an occupant of the seat via the secondary body 16, and no longer directly as was the case in the first embodiment.
[0025] According to this second embodiment: • the frame 2 comprises two parallel branches 12 extending vertically and a transverse spacer 13 connecting the upper ends of said branches together, • the first geared motor 7 is mounted on said spacer, • the first actuating device further comprises a first threaded rod 14 actuated in rotation by said first geared motor, said first rod extending downwards and cooperating in screwing with a nut 15b mounted on the main body so as to allow its height adjustment.
[0026] According to this second embodiment, the frame 2 comprises two metal tubes forming the branches 12 and a spacer 13, made from molded plastic material, connected to the upper ends of said tubes.
[0027] According to this second embodiment: • the second geared motor 17 is fixed to the front of the secondary body 16, • the second actuating device further comprises a second threaded rod 21 actuated in rotation by said second geared motor, said second rod extending behind said second geared motor and cooperating in screwing with a nut 15c mounted on the main body 5 so as to allow longitudinal adjustment of the secondary body 16.
[0028] According to an embodiment not shown, applicable to all the mechanical embodiments covered by the invention, the control means may be in the form of a touch plate allowing actuation of the main body 5 - and of the secondary body 16 if applicable - in one direction or the other depending on the area of said plate where pressure is exerted by the occupant of the seat; it is also possible to provide for memorization of positions by prolonged pressure exerted on said plate by said occupant.
[0029] According to an embodiment not shown, applicable to all the mechanical embodiments covered by the invention, the plate 10 of the integrated circuit 8 can be inserted by one of its edges into a slot provided in the main body 5, an opposite edge of said plate being associated by a screw with said main body, which simplifies its fixing.
[0030] According to an embodiment applicable to all the mechanical embodiments covered by the invention, whether they implement only a main body 5 or a main body 5 and a secondary body 16, the integrated circuit 8 comprises: • a non-volatile ferroelectric RAM (usually called FRAM) for saving the adjustment data of at least one body 5,16, • a capacitor (for example with a capacity of around 103 F) allowing storage of electrical energy in order to allow energy to be restored in the event of a power cut and to enable said backup.
[0031] According to another embodiment applicable to all mechanical embodiments implementing a main body 5 and a secondary body 16, the integrated circuit 8 comprises a motor driver making it possible to drive two geared motors 7, 17.
