Abstract
The beverage preparation apparatus (2) comprises a housing (3), a brewing chamber (11), a grounds collection tray (9), a compacting element (13), a scraping element (36) configured to push a used coffee puck towards the grounds collection tray (9), and a motion transformation mechanism configured to transform a movement of the compacting element (13) from a rest position to a working position into a movement of the scraping element (36) between a retraction position and an ejection position, so as to remove excess grounds located in the brewing chamber towards the grounds collection tray (9) prior to compacting the grounds contained in the brewing chamber by the compacting element (13).
