Abstract

A process for preparing a catalytic material for an electrode for electrochemical reduction reactions, said catalytic material comprising an active phase based on at least one metal from group VIB and fluorine. The process consists of contacting a solid material based on at least one sulfided metal from group VIB with a gas comprising at least difluorine, at a temperature between -50°C and 150°C, for a duration between 15 seconds and 120 minutes, a difluorine concentration in the gas between 0.1 and 100% by volume relative to the total volume of said gas, a pressure between 0.001 and 0.2 MPa, and a PPH between 0.01 and 200 h⁻¹.
