Description

Title of the invention: Arrangement for a motor vehicle comprising a tailgate and a spoiler disposed on the tailgate trunk door.

[0001] The invention relates to a motor vehicle arrangement comprising a tailgate and a spoiler disposed on the tailgate. The invention further relates to a motor vehicle equipped with such an arrangement.

[0002] Motor vehicle tailgates can be equipped with a spoiler to improve the aerodynamic performance of the motor vehicle. The spoiler allows airflow that has become detached to be reattached to the surface of the motor vehicle, for example, airflow that has detached from the vehicle as it passes over the roofline. Such a spoiler can be placed below a rear window of the tailgate.

[0003] The spoiler also serves to improve the aesthetics of the motor vehicle, according to various criteria. A first criterion concerns aligning the ends of the spoiler with the outermost points of the tailgate. A second criterion concerns the positioning of the spoiler's mounting points on the tailgate, which must be located as close as possible to the spoiler's ends. A third criterion concerns the shape of the spoiler, specifically a shape with pointed ends. These different criteria are difficult to reconcile, particularly because one of the pointed ends reduces the spoiler's mounting options.

[0004] Various means of fixing the ends of a spoiler exist.

[0005] However, these solutions have drawbacks. In particular, they do not allow the pointed ends of a spoiler to be fixed.

[0006] The object of the invention is to provide a motor vehicle arrangement comprising a tailgate and a spoiler disposed on the tailgate's trunk lid, remedying the above-mentioned drawbacks and improving upon prior art arrangements comprising a tailgate and a spoiler disposed on the tailgate's trunk lid. In particular, the invention makes it possible to create an arrangement that is simple and reliable and suitable for attaching the pointed ends of a spoiler to a tailgate's trunk lid.

[0007] To this end, the invention relates to an arrangement for a motor vehicle comprising - a tailgate door, comprising an inner layer known as the structure and an outer layer known as the coating, - a spoiler fitted to the tailgate, the spoiler extending laterally from the motor vehicle, the spoiler comprising at least one end in the shape of a fine point, and - at least one means of attachment suitable for fixing the fine point of at least one end of the spoiler to the tailgate door. In addition, the fastening method includes: (i) a projecting part, in particular substantially cylindrical, disposed on the spoiler and near at least one finely pointed end of the spoiler, extending mainly in a given direction, the projecting part being pierced in the given direction, (ii) a hole made in the structural layer of the tailgate door, and (iii) a screw inserted into the hole in the structural layer and then into the hole in the protruding part.

[0008] In one embodiment, the arrangement further includes glazing disposed on the tailgate, and the spoiler includes a first surface, in particular substantially flat, delimited by an inner edge and an outer edge, the inner and outer edges of the first surface meeting at least one of their ends by forming a fine point, in particular the inner edge being defined to run along a profile of the glazing and the outer edge being defined to run along a profile of the tailgate door. Furthermore, the protruding part of at least one fastening means is connected to the first surface, and a position of the protruding part in the lateral direction is defined such that - a minimal distance between a finely pointed end of the first surface and the protruding part located near said end, and - a projection along the given direction of the salient part is contained within the first surface.

[0009] In one embodiment, the protruding part and the first surface are made of a deformable material such that - an initial fixing of the screw in the hole in the protruding part creates a female thread in the protruding part that fits into the male thread of the screw, and / or - the fixing of the screw in the drilling of the protruding part creates a seal, at the level of the fixing means, between an underside of the first surface and an upper side of the coating layer of the tailgate door.

[0010] In one embodiment, the distance between one end of the spoiler and the protruding part is strictly less than 40 millimeters, or even 60 millimeters.

[0011] In one embodiment, the protruding part is substantially cylindrical in shape and a diameter of a projection along the given direction of the protruding part on the first surface is strictly less than 10 millimeters, or even 15 millimeters.

[0012] In one embodiment, at least one fastening means is removable.

[0013] In one embodiment, spoiler further comprises, - a second surface whose lower edge is connected to the inner boundary of the first surface and whose upper edge extends into a space located above the first surface, the second surface forming an obtuse angle with the first surface, - a third surface whose lower edge is connected to the outer boundary (212) of the first surface and whose upper edge extends into a space located above the first surface, the third surface forming an obtuse angle with the first surface, and - a fourth surface extending so as to cover the upper edge of the second surface and the upper edge of the third surface.

[0014] In one embodiment, the first, second and third surfaces are made of a first material selected to meet a compromise between robustness criteria and deformability criteria, and the fourth surface is made of a second material selected to meet aesthetic criteria.

[0015] The invention further relates to a method for mounting an arrangement according to the invention, comprising a step of attaching the spoiler to the tailgate, the attachment step comprising - a substep of inserting the protruding part of at least one fastening means of the arrangement into a hole made in the coating layer of the tailgate of the arrangement, and of positioning the protruding part opposite a hole made in the structural layer of the tailgate of the arrangement, then - a substep of screwing the screw of at least one fastening means of the arrangement into the protruding part of at least one fastening means of the arrangement until a head of the screw presses against the structural layer of the tailgate of the arrangement, and the underside of the first surface of the spoiler of the arrangement presses against the coating layer of the tailgate.

[0016] In one embodiment, the screwing substep takes place in the interior volume of a trunk of the motor vehicle.

[0017] In one embodiment, the method comprises, prior to the step of attaching the spoiler to the tailgate, a step of bonding the glazing to the tailgate, and, after the step of attaching the spoiler to the tailgate door has been carried out, the glazing and the spoiler are arranged so that the spoiler overhangs a lower edge of the glazing.

[0018] The attached drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of a determination device according to the invention and an execution of a determination method according to the invention.

[0019] [Fig-1] Fig. 1 schematically represents a motor vehicle equipped with a arrangement according to the invention.

[0020] [Fig.2] The [Fig.2] defines a direct orthonormal frame of reference of a motor vehicle equipped with an arrangement according to the invention.

[0021] [Fig.3] The [Fig.3] is a top view of an arrangement according to the invention.

[0022] [Fig.4] The [Fig.4] is a cross-sectional view of an arrangement according to the invention.

[0023] [Fig. 5] Fig. 5 is a first perspective view of an arrangement according to the invention.

[0024] [Fig.6] The [Fig.6] is a second perspective view of an arrangement according to the invention.

[0025] An example of a motor vehicle equipped with an embodiment of an arrangement according to the invention is described with reference to Figures 1 to 6.

[0026] For the purposes of this description, and with reference to [Fig. 2], a direct orthonormal coordinate system R0, with axes X, Y, Z, commonly used in automotive design, is used, in which - the X axis designates the front-to-rear longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle 100, oriented towards the rear, - the Y axis designates the transverse direction and is oriented towards the right of the motor vehicle 100, and - the Z axis designates the vertical direction, and is oriented upwards.

[0027] In the remainder of the document, the terms "lower border", "upper border", "above", "below" are defined with reference to the direction of the vertical axis Z of the frame R0.

[0028] The motor vehicle 100 is advantageously a vehicle comprising a tailgate.

[0029] The motor vehicle 100 is equipped with an arrangement according to the invention including: - a tailgate door 1, comprising an inner layer 11 referred to as the structure and an outer layer 12 referred to as the coating, - a spoiler 2 disposed on the tailgate 1, the spoiler 2 extending in a lateral direction Y of the motor vehicle 100, the spoiler 2 comprising at least one end 25 in the shape of a fine point, and - at least one fastening means 20 suitable for fixing at least one fine-pointed end 25 to the tailgate door 1, each fastening means 20 comprising: - a projecting part 201, in particular substantially cylindrical, disposed on the spoiler 2 and near at least one fine point of the spoiler 2, extending mainly in a given direction Dl, the projecting part 201 being pierced in the given direction Dl, - a hole 111 made in a structural layer 11 of the tailgate door 1, and - a screw 202 inserted into the hole in the structural layer 11 and then into the bore 2011 in the protruding part 201.

[0030] The diameter of the hole 111 in the structural layer 11 is less than a dimension (in particular a diameter) of a head 2021 of the screw 202 of the fastening means 20. Thus, when screwing, the head 2021 of the screw 202 is able to exert a bearing on the structural layer 11 of the tailgate door 1.

[0031] In the remainder of this document, the term "fine point" refers to a very thin or tapered end. A spoiler comprising two fine-pointed ends is a spoiler whose different faces gradually meet at a point. In particular, the ends of the spoiler do not include any edges.

[0032] The arrangement further includes a glazing 3 disposed, in particular glued, on the tailgate door 1.

[0033] In the embodiment illustrated in Figures 2 to 5, the spoiler 2 of the arrangement according to the invention comprises a first surface 21, in particular substantially flat, delimited by an inner edge 211 and an outer edge 212, the inner and outer edges meeting at their ends 25 to form two thin points. The inner edge 211 is advantageously defined to run along a profile of the glazing 3 of the arrangement. The outer edge 212 is advantageously defined to run along a profile of the coating layer 12 of the tailgate door 1.

[0034] In one embodiment, the inner and outer lines are at least partially arched.

[0035] The expression "along a profile" is used to describe the fact that, for example, the inner edge 211 forms a first line substantially parallel to a second line which would be drawn by a section of the glazing 3 along a plane (X,Y) passing through the first line.

[0036] In one embodiment, the first surface 21 is substantially contained in a plane parallel to a plane (X,Y). Alternatively, the first surface 21 forms an angle of less than 45 degrees with a plane (X,Y), or even an angle of less than 30 degrees, or even an angle of less than 20 degrees.

[0037] The first surface 21 of the spoiler 2 comprises an inner face oriented towards the inside of the tailgate box, and an outer face oriented towards the outside of the tailgate box.

[0038] The projecting form of at least one fastener is disposed on the inner face of the first surface 21 of the spoiler 2, respectively near at least one end 25 of the first surface 21 forming a fine point. The projecting part 201 extends in a given direction DI forming a non-zero angle Al with the first surface 21 of the spoiler 2, the angle Al being able to be equal to 90 degrees.

[0039] The protruding shape is drilled along the DI direction.

[0040] The protruding shape is made of a material that is easily deformable, for example a polymer of the polypropylene type. Thus, a first fixing of the screw of the arrangement in the drilling of the protruding part 201 creates a female thread 2022 of the protruding part 201 fitted to the male thread 2022 of the screw 202.

[0041] Advantageously, a position of the protruding part 201 along the Y-axis is defined such that the inner face of the first surface 21 of the spoiler 2 completely covers a junction between the protruding part 201 and the first surface 21. In other words, a distance measured along the Y-axis, between the extreme point of a tip of the spoiler 2 and the center of the hole in the protruding part 201 is defined such that the protruding part 201 does not extend beyond the inner face of the first surface 21. A projection along the given direction DI of the protruding part 201 onto the inner face is contained within the inner face.

[0042] Advantageously, the junction between the protruding part 201 and the first surface 21 is very small, so that the protruding part 201 can be positioned close to an extreme point of a tip of the spoiler 2. In particular, a distance between the center of drilling of the protruding part 201 and the extreme point of a tip of the spoiler 2 is strictly less than 40 millimeters, or even 60 millimeters.

[0043] In one embodiment, the protruding part 201 is substantially cylindrical in shape and a diameter of a projection along the given direction DI of the protruding part 201 on the first surface 21 is strictly less than 10 millimeters, or even 15 millimeters.

[0044] Advantageously, the protruding part 201 is made of an easily deformable material and a first fixing of the screw 202 in the bore of the protruding part 201 creates a female thread 2012 of the protruding part 201 fitted to the male thread 2022 of the screw 202. This embodiment of the internal thread of the protruding part 201 makes it possible to maximize a contact surface between the male thread 2022 of the screw 202 and the female thread 2012 of the protruding part 201, which increases the strength of the fixing.

[0045] Furthermore, in an advantageous embodiment, the first surface 21 is made of a deformable material so that the fixing of the screw 202 in the bore of the protruding part 201 creates a seal, at the level of the fixing means 20, between a lower face 213 of the first surface 21 and an upper face of the coating layer 12 of the tailgate door 1.

[0046] Indeed, as can be seen more particularly in [Fig. 4], the coating layer 12 is in contact with the lower face 213 of the first surface 21. Tightening the screw 202 into the protruding part 201 creates a force that tends to bring the first surface 21 of the spoiler 2 and the structural layer 11 closer together. The coating layer 12 is then compressed, particularly against the lower face 213 of the first surface 21, which creates a seal at the compression zone. In this way, water cannot enter the motor vehicle 100, particularly the trunk, through the opening made for the passage of the protruding part 201.

[0047] Advantageously, the first and second fastening means 20 are removable, which allows the repair of the arrangement to be targeted on the part or parts which require it.

[0048] The spoiler 2 further comprises - a second surface 22, a lower edge 221 of which is connected to the inner edge 211 of the first surface 21 and an upper edge 222 of which extends into a space located above the first surface 21, the second surface 22 forming an obtuse angle with the first surface 21, - a third surface 23, a lower edge 231 of which is connected to the outer edge 212 of the first surface 21 and an upper edge 232 of which extends into a space located above the first surface 21, the third surface forming an obtuse angle with the first surface 21, and - a fourth surface 24 extending so as to cover the upper edge 222 of the second surface 22 and the upper edge 232 of the third surface.

[0049] In addition, the first, second and third surfaces are made of a first material selected to meet a compromise between robustness criteria and deformability criteria, and the fourth surface is made of a second material selected to meet aesthetic criteria.

[0050] The first material can be, for example, PP-MD30.

[0051] The second material can be, for example, P / E-LMD30.

[0052] Thus, the first, second and third surfaces together form an internal part of the spoiler 2 which is not visible when the spoiler 2 is mounted on the motor vehicle 100, and the fourth surface forms the external part of the spoiler 2, which is visible from outside the motor vehicle 100.

[0053] Advantageously, the first, second and third surfaces and the protruding part 201 are made together by molding.

[0054] The invention further relates to a method for assembling an arrangement according to the invention. An embodiment of the assembly method is described below with reference to [Fig. 6].

[0055] In a first step El, a glazing 3 is glued onto the tailgate door 1. The positioning of the glazing on the tailgate door 1 is advantageously carried out before fixing the spoiler 2. Indeed, this allows subsequently the spoiler 2 to be placed so that the spoiler 2 covers a lower edge 31 of the glazing 3.

[0056] More generally, the glazing 3 and the spoiler 2 are arranged so that the spoiler 2 overhangs a lower edge 31 of the glazing 3. The term "overhang" is used to describe the fact that an edge of the spoiler 2 is located above, relative to the Z axis, a lower edge 31 of the glazing 3.

[0057] Then in a second step E2, the protruding part 201 of at least one fastening means 20 of the arrangement is inserted into a hole 121 made in the coating layer 12 of the tailgate door 1 of the arrangement, and the protruding part 201 is positioned opposite a hole 111 made in the structural layer 11 of the tailgate door 1 of the arrangement.

[0058] Next, the tailgate trunk is opened.

[0059] Then, one positions oneself in the interior space of the trunk to screw the screw 202 of at least one fastening means 20 of the arrangement into the protruding part 201 of at least one fastening means 20 of the arrangement until a head 2021 of the screw 202 presses on the structural layer 11 of the tailgate door 1 of the arrangement, and until the lower face 213 of the first surface 21 of the spoiler 2 of the arrangement presses on the coating layer 12 of the tailgate door 1.

[0060] During the screwing step, the screw 202 first passes through the structural layer 11 of the tailgate door 1 and then through the protruding part 201, and the attachment of the spoiler 2 to the tailgate door 1 is achieved by a support of a head 2021 of the screw 202 on the structural layer 11.

[0061] Finally, the arrangement according to the invention provides an advantageous solution for attaching to a tailgate a spoiler whose ends are in the shape of a fine point.

[0062] A first advantage of the invention relates to the compactness of the fastening means, which allows for the most lateral possible placement of the fastening devices intended to secure the ends 25 of the spoiler. In addition to improving the aesthetic appearance of the spoiler, such a placement of the fastening devices limits the possibility of snagging an end of the spoiler, particularly during vehicle cleaning. Furthermore, the compactness of the fastening means allows for its installation even in very confined environments.

[0063] A second advantage of the invention relates to the detachable nature of the fastening device, which allows the arrangement to be disassembled and thus the repair of the arrangement to be targeted on the part or parts which require it.

[0064] A third advantage of the invention relates to the implementation of a sealing means around the fastening devices.
