Abstract

The invention relates to a method for obtaining an anion exchange membrane containing an ionomer film in which the copolymer chains of the ionomer are arranged throughout the film's thickness in a double-gyroid nanostructure. The ionomer has the formula A-B'-C, where A represents a hydrocarbon polyvinylaromatic block, B' represents a polymer block whose constituent repeating units each contain a pendant nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic group, and in which all or part of the pendant nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocyclic groups are N-alkylated, and C represents a hydrophilic polyether block. The resulting nanostructure maximizes the transport of anions and water within the membrane and improves the performance of a fuel cell or electrolyzer containing such a membrane.
