Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE COMPRISING A SIDER BEAM WITH A INNER FACE INCLUDING A FOUNDATION
[0001] The invention relates to the chassis of motor vehicles, in particular to the side members.
[0002] Prior art patent application FR3120046 is known, describing a shock-absorbing assembly for a motor vehicle, particularly for side impacts caused by collisions with trees or poles. The vehicle has a side member. The shock-absorbing assembly comprises an outer panel and an inner panel. The inner panel is attached to the outer panel. Both the outer and inner panels are located in one of the vehicle's doors. Each outer and inner panel has an end portion covering the side member. The shock-absorbing assembly includes an energy-absorbing reinforcement positioned between the end portion of the outer panel and the end portion of the inner panel. The energy-absorbing reinforcement has a compressible energy-absorbing zone. The energy absorption zone has a honeycomb profile consisting of two stamped metal sheets forming several closed cells arranged vertically, one above the other, between the lower and upper parts of the inner panel. However, some drawbacks remain. Adding the shock absorber assembly increases the overall weight of the vehicle and results in a significant additional cost during production. Furthermore, the absorber assembly is quite large, making its integration within the vehicle difficult.
[0003] The objective of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to reinforce the stiffness of the vehicle side member to reduce the risks of deformation and shearing of the side member during a side impact.
[0004] To achieve this objective, the invention proposes a motor vehicle comprising a front axle and a rear axle whose points of contact with the ground define a base plane defined by a first longitudinal direction corresponding to straight-line travel, by a second transverse direction orthogonal to the first longitudinal direction, and a third vertical direction orthogonal to the first and second directions and oriented away from the ground, said vehicle comprising a chassis, said chassis comprising a side member positioned on one of the lateral sides of said vehicle along the second direction, said side member being positioned towards the rear of said vehicle along the first direction, said longitudinal member has an inner face oriented towards the center of the vehicle, characterized in that said inner face has a stamping.
[0005] Thanks to the invention, the risks of deformation and shearing of the side member are reduced when a lateral impact occurs.
[0006] Advantageously, the stamping has two first portions parallel to each other and a plurality of second portions positioned between the first two portions, the second portions being substantially perpendicular to the first portions.
[0007] A grid-shaped stamping is more effective in stiffening the side member and allows for optimization of the side member mass, and therefore the overall mass of the vehicle.
[0008] Preferably, the stamping comprises six second portions.
[0009] Advantageously, the second portions are spaced from each other by a predetermined distance.
[0010] A regular stamping more effectively reduces the risk of deformation of the side member during a side impact.
[0011] Advantageously, said predetermined distance is between 20 mm and 40 mm, preferably 33 mm.
[0012] Advantageously, the second portions each have a length between 40 mm and 70 mm, preferably 59 mm.
[0013] Preferably, the inner face comprises a first part and a second part, the first part being substantially perpendicular to the second part, the stamping extending over the first part and over the second part, the first portions on the first part having a length between 60 mm and 80 mm, the first portions on the second part having a length between 130 mm and 150 mm.
[0014] Preferably, the length of the first portions on the first part is equal to 71 mm, the length of the first portions on the second part being equal to 140 mm.
[0015] Advantageously, said vehicle comprises two longitudinal members, a first longitudinal member being positioned on the right of said vehicle along the second direction, a second longitudinal member being positioned on the left of said vehicle along the second direction.
[0016] The invention will be further detailed by the description of a non-limiting embodiment, and on the basis of the attached figure illustrating the invention, in which [Fig.1] schematically illustrates a side member of a motor vehicle chassis comprising a stamping according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0017] A side member of a motor vehicle chassis is schematically illustrated in [Fig. 1]. The vehicle comprises a front running gear and a rear running gear whose points of contact with the ground define a basic plane XY is defined by a first longitudinal direction X corresponding to straight-line travel, a second transverse direction Y orthogonal to the first longitudinal direction X, and a third vertical direction Z orthogonal to the first direction X and the second direction Y, oriented away from the ground. Generally, motor vehicles have a plurality of side members positioned at different locations within the vehicle. In the context of this invention, the side member is positioned on one of the lateral sides, right or left, of said vehicle along the second direction Y. Furthermore, the side member is positioned towards the rear of said vehicle along the first direction X. Preferably, the motor vehicle has two side members, namely a first side member positioned on the right lateral side and a second side member positioned on the left lateral side along the second direction Y.The side member has an inner face oriented towards the center of the vehicle. The inner face of the side member has a stamped section. A stamped section is a metal part shaped by deforming a sheet of metal using a punch and a die, giving it a three-dimensional shape without causing breakage. The role of the stamped section is to stiffen the side member to prevent deformation, particularly shearing, during a lateral impact, such as a lateral impact against a small surface, like the intrusion of a post, for example. Preferably, the stamped section has a grid or grid pattern formed by two first portions 1 parallel to each other and a plurality of second portions 2 positioned between the first two portions 1. The second portions 2 are substantially perpendicular to the first portions 1. Preferably, the stamped section has six second portions 2, as shown in [Fig. 1].Optionally, the second portions 2 are arranged regularly and spaced from each other by a predetermined distance of between 20 mm and 40 mm. Preferably, the predetermined distance is 33 mm. Furthermore, the second portions 2 preferably have a length of between 40 mm and 70 mm. In a preferred embodiment, the length is 59 mm. Optionally, the spar comprises a first part 3 and a second part 4, as shown in [Fig. 1]. The first part 3 is substantially perpendicular to the second part 4. The stamping then extends over the first part 3 and the second part 4. Indeed, in [Fig. 1], the first two portions 1 are each positioned partially on the first part 3 and on the second part 2. Moreover, two second portions 2 are positioned on the first part 3, while four second portions 2 are positioned on the second part 4.Optionally, the first portions 1 of the first part 3 have a length between 60 mm and 80 mm, preferably 71 mm. In a way. Optionally, the first portions 1 on the second part 4 have a length between 130 mm and 150 mm, preferably 140 mm.
