Abstract
A camera device 12 for capturing the surroundings 20 (fig.1) of a motor vehicle, comprising a housing 14 and a lens 16, wherein the housing 14 comprises a visor 18 that is adjustable relative to the lens 16 and shades the lens 16 from sunlight. The angle position of the visor 18 is monitored and may be adjusted by a computer controlled electric drive using a control signal based on surrounding parameters such as entropy, brightness, and position of the sun. The visor 18 shades the lens and prevents adverse effects of bright sunlight on the captured images. The invention further relates to a method for controlling the camera device 12 using a computer program product stored on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium.
