Lock apparatus

Abstract

A lock such as a D-lock comprising a shackle lockable to a body wherein the shackle 200 has a diamond layer 202. The shackle has legs 2012 and a bend 2013 the centre radius R is at least 15mm to minimise stress concentrations in the diamond layer; the diamond layer being at least 0.2mm thick, preferably a thickness range 0.3mm to 0.6mm. The D-lock may include two bent sections with a first arcuate bend of acute angle and a second arcuate bend of obtuse angle with an intermediate section (fig.3), or may include three bent sections, e.g. 60 degrees, with intermediate sections (fig.4). the diamond layer increases the anti-cutting resistance of the shackle of the lock.
