AI Technical Summary
Standard boxing gloves can cause damage to the punched surface and may be prone to cutting, while existing inflatable gloves do not effectively disperse impact forces and may not provide adequate protection for both the boxer and the opponent.
A boxing glove device with an outer layer comprising deformable cells that disperse impact forces by deforming laterally into adjacent lowered regions, optionally with a gel layer for additional dispersion, and features such as a discontinuous external surface, adjustable wrist strap, and low-friction finish to minimize grazing.
The device effectively disperses impact forces away from the point of contact, reducing damage to both the wearer and the opponent, while minimizing cuts and providing secure fit and comfort.

Abstract
Description
30 06 25 Field of the Invention 5 The present invention relates to a boxing glove device, in particular a device for providing an effective and comfortable boxing glove, less prone to damage for the wearer or subject. Background 10 Many people in many societies enjoy exercise in many forms. A particularly effective form of exercise and training is boxing. As a result, many people in many societies are increasingly taking up boxing for 15 exercise or leisure purposes. However boxing can be damaging for the punched surface, be it another person or the person boxing. As a result boxers will wear gloves to protect during boxing. 20 Standard gloves may also be prone to cutting as the surface slides across the punched surface. Prior Art 25 CN 2025 69 421 (SHI) discloses a pair of inflatable box gloves. Each of the inflatable boxing gloves comprises a boxing glove body, including a thumb part and a fist part; a plurality of inflatable structures are fixed on the external surfaces of the thumb part and the fist part; and the inflatable structures are internally provided with inflatable layers increasing buffering and reducing the forces of throwing punches, so that a boxer is 30 protected while the opponent is also protected; moreover, the air pressure in the inflatable layers can be regulated according to the inflating volume, so that the hardness of the inflating structures is changed. US 2 451 685 (MOILANEN) discloses a boxing glove, a flexible outer casing, and a 35 plurality of resiliently elastic and relatively unattached members enclosed in the casing 30 06 25 in mutually free and contacting relation and cooperatively providing a compressedly yielding padding for the glove. GB 190 103 007 (RYAN et al) discloses Improved boxing gloves each comprising an 5 inner glove having an airchamber or air-chambers on the back and extending sufficiently over the tips of the fingers, the said inflatable glove being enveloped in an outer removable covering glove continued comparatively high up the users wrist round where it may be fastened by lacing or other means, the said inner glove having t.lio thumb piece suitably shaped to retain the wearers thumb in proper position when the 10 hand is clenched, suitable means being provided for inflating the inner glove, the gloves being or not made with open palms to provide for ventilation, substantially as described in the above specification. Summary of the Invention 15 According to the present invention there is provided a boxing glove device comprising an inner defining a space for a user’s clenched fist, an outer comprising a plurality of deformable cells, wherein each deformable cell comprises a raised region and a lowered region, wherein the plurality of deformable cells are dispersed about a 20 punching surface, and wherein the deformable cells are positioned adjacent to each other to form a discontinuous external surface. In this way the device is used to disperse the forces received when punching a surface, such that the deformation causes the impact forces to be dispersed away from the 25 point of impact, such that the forces are dispersed at point of impact and rearwards more widely. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a gel layer, which may further act to disperse impact forces by causing localised deformation and / or 30 transmission. The outer comprises a discontinuous raised and lowered external surface. In this way the deformation may be envisaged to be laterally enabled, for example between cells, into space defined by the lowered parts of the surface. 30 06 25 In some such embodiments of the device the deformable cells are located below the external surface. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises multiple flat plastic sheets 5 heat welded together with pressurized air in between layers. In some embodiments of the device the air cells are formed in a plurality of different shapes. 10 In some embodiments of the device the deformable cells are formed in a plurality of different depths, which may provide a staggered impact surface and / or sequentially arranged deformation. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises thumb protection. 15 In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a wrist strap, which wrist strap may be envisaged to provide an adjustable means of attaching the device securely to a user’s wrist and hand. 20 In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a padded inner, which may for example be absorbent. In some embodiments of the device the device comprises a glossy or low friction finish or surface on or to the outer. In this way it may be envisaged that grazing or cuts may 25 be minimised. A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example only and with reference to the Figures in which: 30 Brief Description of Figures Figure 1 shows an isometric view of an embodiment of the device according to the present invention; Figure 2 shows a reverse isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1; 30 06 25 Figure 3 shows a sectional isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in 5 Figure 1; Figure 4 shows a further isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1; 10 Figure 5 shows a further isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1; Figure 6 shows a reverse sectional isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1; 15 Figure 7 shows a further sectional isometric view of the embodiment of the device shown in Figure 1; Figure 8 shows a further sectional isometric view of the embodiment of the device 20 shown in Figure 1; and Figure 9 shows a further sectional isometric view of the embodiment of the device 25 shown in Figure 1. Detailed Description of Figures 30 With reference to the figures there is shown an embodiment of a boxing glove device 99 generally comprising an inner 26 defining a space for a user’s clenched fist, and an outer comprising a plurality of deformable cells dispersed about a punching surface. In particular reference to the pictured embodiment the embodiment comprises an outer 35 which comprises a plurality of raised parts 21 and lowered parts 22,27 providing a discontinuous external surface. 30 06 25 The external surface comprises a plurality of individual cells 20 containing fluid which may be air, which may be pressurised. 5 In the pictured embodiment the cells are dispersed so as cover the majority of the external surface of the device. A main area of the glove is provided with cells that are substantially orthogonally divided by the lowered parts 22. In other embodiments it may be envisaged that the cells are dispersed less widely, for 10 example dispersed solely or mainly on impact points. These deformable cells thereby absorb impacts by dispersing impacts, by the raised parts 21 deforming individually and into lowered surfaces 22,27, and / or deforming other cells. The cells have flat top faces, and inclined side faces, and comprise a 15 plurality of polygonal shapes. In the pictured embodiment the inner surface of the glove, covering a user’s palm 23 in use, is not provided with cells. 20 The thumb and front of the fingers are provided with integrated but independent open ended sleeves 1 and 4 respectively. The external surface is provided with a glossy or low friction surface, so as to minimise grazing of impacted persons or skin. Internally the inner 26 is provided with webbing 25 strap 42 reinforcement. The wrist collar 13 is provided with a split 12 to allow fastening providing a part of a fastening means 3, from which split a discontinuous band 10 extends, which band has a panel of hook material such as Velcro (RTM) on its inner face, which secures onto a 30 panel 11 of loop material on the outer face of the wrist collar so as to allow a plurality of different securing positions. The wrist collar connects to the glove at an elastomeric sleeve 24. The sleeve may be an absorbent material such as a cotton webbing. Embodiments of the device may have an elastomeric seam with the glove and / or the collar. The invention has been described by way of examples only and it will be appreciated 5 that variation may be made to the above-mentioned embodiments without departing from the scope of protection as defined by the claims. 30 06 25
