Automated system for repair of paved surfaces

Abstract

An automated paved surface repair system comprising a stabilized mobile working platform 1, 2, supporting a tool deployment system 3,4,5,6,7 and 8, which has interchangeable tools 15,16,17,18,19 to effect some or all of the operations necessary to create the repair and has sufficient degrees of freedom to create directed tool paths parallel with the paved surface. The system is controlled by an electronic control system 12 to direct the path for the tools. The system may have an actuated, articulated arm with position sensors to deploy the tools wherein the arm may be mounted on a mechanism that can traverse across the working platform. The automated paved surface repair system may be towable by a vehicle or the working platform may be a part of a self-propelled vehicle. They system may be powered by rechargeable electric batteries or by a biodiesel engine. The system may have a location determining system fixed to the tool end of the articulated arm which is used to determine and record the precise location and geometry of the repair.
