Abstract
A head-mounted electronic device 100 (HMD) includes a face engagement structure 110 connected to a housing 150, inward facing and external cameras and an outward facing display 108,2.2-14F. The inward facing camera detects an HMD wearer’s eye feature. The external camera is positioned on the housing and detects a body feature of the HMD wearer outside the face engagement structure. The outward facing display is positioned on the housing and projects a representation of the wearer based on a stored representation and one or more of the wearer’s eye or body features. A head-mounted display (HMD) 2.2-10 includes first 2.2-14 and second 2.2-14F displays. The first projects light to a user’s eye wearing the HMD. The second projects an avatar of the user on an external surface of the head-mounted display. A processor causes the second display to modify a user avatar based on the user’s facial expression or eye feature. A head-mounted device has inward facing and external cameras. The inward facing camera detects a user’s eye feature. The external camera detects a user’s facial feature. A processor is electrically coupled to both cameras and generates a user avatar based on both the user’s eye and facial features.
