A method of preparing a pharmaceutical formulation

Abstract

A process for preparing an aqueous ready to use oral liquid suspension of zonisamide or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein the process comprises: (a) adding purified water into a vessel; (b) adding a mixture of microcrystalline cellulose and carboxymethylcellulose sodium with stirring; (c) adding xanthan gum with stirring; (d) adding citric acid and sodium citrate with stirring; (e) adding sodium benzoate with stirring; (f) adding sucralose with stirring; (g) adding zonisamide or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, with stirring at 20-30 Hz for 10-60 minutes; (h) stirring the suspension at 30-40 Hz for 45-55 minutes; (i) stirring the suspension at 45-55 Hz for 10-15 minutes; (j) adding strawberry flavouring with stirring; (k) adding purified water to make up the final volume; and (l) stirring the suspension, is provided. The process may further comprise (m) transferring to a filling vessel; and (n) packing the final suspension into a container. A sodium vapour lamp may be used before step (g). An aqueous ready to use oral liquid composition prepared by the process is provided. [Fig: None]
