Abstract

A material recovery system 2 for recycling mixed household-waste 4, comprising a first processing facility 8 to sort a recyclable portion 6 of the waste into recyclate glass 10, metal 12, plastic 14, and fibre 16 streams. Bulk storage areas for glass 20, metal 22, plastic 24, fabric 26 streams. A second processing facility 30 to sort non-recyclable portion 28 of the waste into a waste stream and at least one of second metal, plastic, and fibre streams. A third processing facility 30a to sort any another recyclable portion of the waste. A combiner and baler of the streams of recyclate metal, plastic, fibre streams, and a combiner of the glass streams. A method of processing and recycling mixed household-waste is further disclosed.
