Abstract

The image displayed in the front view image display area is an image for the pointing guide function when a user attempts to point at a GUI displayed in a so-called xR space such as virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR) using their fingers. When a finger is placed in the user's field of view through the head-mounted display, a gradient shadow is displayed in the area where the GUI, such as buttons or sliders, overlaps with the finger image (enlarged view 1 of the image displayed in the image display area). As the finger is extended further back, the width of the gradient narrows, giving the impression that the finger is moving closer to the GUI (enlarged view 2 of the image displayed in the image display area). When the finger is extended to the pointing position, the gradient disappears, giving the impression that the finger is touching the GUI (enlarged view 3 of the image displayed in the image display area).
