Abstract

The shamisen 1 in the "Overall Plan Reference Diagram of the Shamisen" has three strings, including the first string. The pitch level is determined by shifting the positions of the upper bridge 44 and the lower bridge 45. The tension of each string between the bridges is adjusted by the amount of winding on the tenjin string spool 51. The tension of the strings caused by the winding is created by the tone string (also called the root) 50, which is attached to the tip side of the lower bridge 45 on the top surface of the body 52, more specifically, to the bottom plate at the end of the body 53, as shown in the "Perspective View of the Tono Attached in Use". The tone string 50 of the item related to the design is made of wood with almost no stretch, instead of the conventional ribbon-like string. The tip of the neck 54 peeking out through the body 52 is fitted into the tone string hole 55 in the "Exploded View of the Tono Attached" and is tightly attached to the bottom plate at the end of the body 53. For reference, after the sound cord 50 is attached to the body 52, it is accompanied by a metal set screw 62 that determines the vertical position of the slide fixing base 58 of the base bridge 57 shown in the "Exploded View of the Sound Cord". In addition, it is attached with a string fastener 63 for the string 22 for the body strap 11 (not directly related to this case, shown in the "Overall Reference Diagram of the Shamisen") that protects the body 52, as shown in the "Perspective View of the Sound Cord Showing the State of Use".
