Abstract

As we age, our bodies undergo changes, particularly numbness, pain, and paralysis in our hands, fingers, and arms, making it difficult to open standard metal spring clothespins with our fingers. This laundry peg, designed for those with limited strength, including the elderly, disabled, those with mild illnesses or injuries, and even infants, can easily open and close clothespins using their entire hands and fingers to clamp laundry. Instead of using standard metal springs, these clothespins feature a plastic arc section, a mating section, and a clamping section. The two clamping rods are molded as a single unit and fit together at the mating section. The top of the arc section is a spring, and by gripping both sides of the arc with your hands and fingers, you slide the interlocking rod to open and close the clamping section and clamp laundry. This laundry peg features a slip-resistant handle for those who want to hang out their laundry independently despite their limited strength. The top of the arc section is designed to prevent damage to the spring, making it suitable for general use. Since it does not use metal springs, it is easy to recycle and is an SDGs product.
