Abstract

This article is a sealing member that exhibits excellent conformability to surfaces with partial steps. As shown in the reference perspective view illustrating the function of each part, this article comprises a first sealing material and a second sealing material held by a support member. As shown in the enlarged cross-sectional view of line AA, the first sealing material and the second sealing material each have a core plate and a sealing layer covering the core plate (however, in some cases, a sealing layer without a core plate (a sealing layer folded and sewn without a core plate) is also acceptable). The core plate is made of metal, resin, etc., and is flexible. The sealing layer is a cut pile layer containing numerous pile threads. As shown in the reference perspective view illustrating the state of use, this article is used, for example, to wipe dust and other foreign matter such as liquids and solids from the surface of a machine tool where a window is provided with a step in the door wall. Because the first sealing material is flexible, when it reaches the window, the second sealing material protrudes relative to the first sealing material, thereby allowing the second sealing material to slide while adhering closely to the surface of the window.
